  1. I have started to put out the odd pear as the temperature drops as it gives nourishment to the blackbirds and some of the sparrows which take the occasional peck at the fruit.

    People I like

The people I like are the one's who prove helpful when one is in great need of assistance.
  3. That's why they are flooding in, and each one that enters takes a part of the birthright provided by the indigenous population's parents, grandparents, and great grandparents.
  4. I always spoke to my children as if they were adult when answering their questions. We chatted a little about death, and I said one should never be afraid of death, as we die every night. The end result is that they are spoken of by their piers as older than their years.
  5. I sympathise poppynotsolucky. I think I would have ditched the piece of furniture.
  6. I have a buddy journalist who put in a shed/office in the garden and it works well although it was not a cheap structure as it was a flat packed cottage lookalike, it needs to be fully insulated (roof and walls) I built my own which cost 2.5k for the bits and pieces, and a few weeks of time and energy, his cost more than double that.
  7. I would have thought that this thread may be better in the family discussion room.
  8. It seems there are more babies about this year but there toughest task is the forthcoming winter.
  9. The young robin who has yet to get his/her redbreast is being driven off by his parent, who gave up feeding him several weeks ago. The adult bird is first and foremost at the food and the only way for young'un to survive is to wait patiently until the parent has finished and flown away, he will then quietly fly in to feast whilst keeping a weather eye open for mum or dad.
  10. Hoovering the roof again, " " " once more, " " " with a broom? " " " up the step ladder, " " " whilst single, " " " with children,
  11. Atkins of diet fame died by the hand of his ex-lover I believe.
  12. It seems to me that there are people in this society willing to stick the boot into catholicism but would not say "BOO" to a muslim...........
  13. Some of my catholic friends suffer from 1st degree guilt some of the others who are less driven have only achieved "A" level guilt. The denial of justice to the victims is one of the greatest debacles of this institution, as it casts a shadow over any good deeds it performs in the world. I still think that suggesting he opens an abortion clinic is hardly the correct activity for the pope to perform as there must be loads of 'befitting' chores which would be more suitable.
  14. Good movie Hal, the plot though was enough to make me shiver. expat wrote:- Perhaps anyone 1 year younger then steve t and up should be terminated? That would be two years before pensionable age which would suit the governments accounts books just fine. An interesting concept expat but withdrawal of benefits would be more efficient and target the poorest, weakest and most dependent. Sounds to me like the world of expat is a paradise waiting to happen, personally I don't think you've a dogs chance to make your idea stick!
  15. A small memorial for a big man was all KK.
  16. A familiar term for the retired in Japan is 'big garbage'! Quids the potential for a new industry, 'finality shops' or "the Terminus" which will provide a good send off, errr provided the octogenarians have the money of course.
  17. In fact he was the biggest ever politician at a shade under 30 stone (or for the youngsters 186 kilos) I am surprised he made it to 82. He admitted to enjoying pies chips and black pudding, along with the occasional pint, and a penchant for youngsters it was rumoured.
  18. Those were the exact words my mother said to me Mic Mac. You took me right back to my misspent childhood:)
  19. The more I get to know our politicians the more disillusioned I become. I thought he was one of the better one's until he got into business with Seb Coe to dive into the olympic trough of greed and avarice. When he got married to Ffion he was laughing up his sleeve as he duped the nation into believing he was a 'family man'. Do they scrape all these politicians out of the dormitory of 'lying thieving benders', or is it just an unfortunate coincidence, again?
  20. It certainly is berryberry he hasn't developed the habit of getting to bed at a reasonable hour:)
  21. WOD as he is going to uni' soon I would leave him to sort himself out, once there he will do what all the others do which is going to bed too late and sleep in until he wakes from noise out in the corridor (assume he is in halls for the first year). If he is not willing to get up and earn money he is getting it too easily from some source, either you or manofdulwich, if it stopped he might be more willing to work to fund his dope habit independently. My eldest couldn't get to bed or get up, now she works full-time she is sooo knackered she flops into bed without hesitation.
  22. I chatted to a minicab driver from Nigeria and he said 'basically it was either 40 degrees or p!ssing down'. Nuff said.
  23. That is truly decadent rolling up spliffs at that hour, they deserve to be nicked for not inviting us.
  24. Pays to go to Asda. Since my front door handle was unscrewed and removed whilst I was out yesterday it seems there is a new wave of thievery hitting ED. Bar studs!
  25. Servicing blankets is expensive it is almost cheaper to buy a new one. To return to the topic..... The squirrels are having a field day with my hazel, creeping off with the cob nuts, although 'new' nuts was the name when I was a lad. I have lots of tomatoes ripening inside so tomato soup is imminent.
