The kids I knew who went to faith schools had a far wider knowledge of the religious faith they attended than the rest of us heathens but they were no better or worse during other subject lessons. People think that if you don't get a good education you are potentially a failure. My education was a secondry school for 11 plus rejects where one chances of obtaining GCE's were nil. I left at 15 and went to earn a living and was 'encouraged' to learn a trade. I thought that too until I became financially more successful being a failed gas-fitter from the midlands running my own businesses and partnerships than the 'educated' middle class friends of my ex-wife who were ex-graduates doctors lawyers etc. Success is not down to education it is far more to do with the individual, their endeavour, tenacity, determination, and savvy with a pinch or two of luck. Sugar was a stall holder, Branson had learning difficulties, Billy Butlin ran a stall on the beach and could not read or write. We were all crap at school but we made good in varying degrees. The best thing 10 years of schooling did for me was to teach me my times tables, which I still use on a daily basis 50 years after the event. I might have said reading but I could read well enough before I new what school was.

I went swimming in the revamped pool, excellent in all departments except it's timetable. If I go swimming in Peckham Pulse I get 3 hours of free swimming per week for being old and grumpy. The free over 60's sessions are not on offer at the ED pool. If I go for the free ones at the pulse I use the car with all the nonsense of parking, in ED I walk, as it's only 15 minutes each way. Can anyone employed by Fusion explain this weird inconsistency? Is ED deemed richer so they can stick it to us for their profits? Come on Fusion explain yourselves or do I have to complain to my MP to be heard?

Looking through the Forum's useful numbers list for Fusion's head office has somehow been overlooked so for your information the Fusion head quarters 020 7740 7500 It is useful if you have any queries of the pulse and G Green leisure centres.

Best way to get to O2 Arena from ED?
SteveT replied to mothercourage's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Train to london bridge, and the river boat from LB to the arena. -
Spent the day at RHS Wisley with my brother in law, last time we were there we watched a tree creeper but this time the most exotic birds were a jay and a heron. The plan was to purchase a new plum tree (Opal) as the Victoria in the garden is well past her best. I have tried the Opal plums and they have a better flavour and are juicier than the Vics. Victoria tended to deliver in three year cycles but latterly it had become less reliable and as I had pruned it, limed it, fed it, and watered it regularly, it still would not produce the goods, so it was time to go. ?40 lighter in pocket I left with my new plum tree, to be planted at the earliest, but as I have back trouble again, I must hire someone who can handle a spade.

Most decent people would not expect to be asked Nero, they would just scoop up the child to their lap.

Being treated differently starts from the first day of suckling, because boys are breast fed on average 1/3rd longer than their sisters. This is because mum's allow boys to make greater demands on them than their daughters. This one might think would make a difference to long-term survival, but it's not the case, as girls are rather more durable and generally easier to raise than us ailing and sickly guys. When the army lose some of their super-fit soldiers overnight on a foggy November evening they get helicopters with headlights to find them because the chances are some will die of exposure before daybreak. When the army lose women over-night they leave them where they are, as they'll survive very well.

Just mow it young scarlet young scarlet young scarlet just mow it, late-ish in the day when (most of) the dew is dried off by the sun.

Princess Anne recently made overtures to the fashion industry by having some of her designer tops remodelled which drew sneers from the press, I rather admired her not throwing out her old stuff, and getting them revamped. Good for you Annie, I am not a royalist but she gets more points from me than all her idiotic brothers.

That is just ignorance on his part, does he not know the correct procedure, first it's fags and booze, then a bit of puff or cannabis, and then coke and finally smack or crack, its simple enough, tsk tsk some people make heavy weather of the simplest tasks. These heroine addicts would sell your furniture, or mug their own mother to get their fix. Totally untrustworthy.

Ratty wrote:- Sorry Jah, but having worked with heroin users for the last 15 years I can safely say that cannabis is very, very often a gateway drug and still is. I know lots of people who have, and still do smoke cannabis, I don't know any smack heads, which makes one wonder what percentage cross over to heroin.

If dogs can get used to using leads, why not wearing muzzles in public too?

First day of the new Dulwich Swimming Pool

No change there then gerritsmith, it is exactly the same at the pulse too, women leaving their changing rooms without negotiating the showers before entering the pool. The staff remain unconcerned at the offenders, and the pool notices are not nearly large enough for the task. -
I was attacked for no reason by a pitbull on brockwell park.................. and it really happened.

Don't be a burglary victim - a few tips.

The police often hang extra crimes on to felons as they get no additional time to serve, but it helps the police's figures on clear up rates. How would anyone remember they have 645 to plead to? -
Well I guess it is cheaper and more convenient to use this forum to thank one's parents. I personally would have invested in a card and a postage stamp, me being a real 'Flash Harry' with my hard earned.

I don't think Huguenot needs the help and protection from your dubious ramblings and stalkerish tendencies expat. -

immigration is less expensive wrote Huguenot. Unless they are on benefits. 'locals' were intrinsically 'better' that 'foreigners' wrote Huguenot. They would not have vastly different cultural baggage, and they would not have problems with communication in English. -

Moos wrote:- If someone wants to come up with a factual and reasoned argument against immigrants, bring it on. We have been sucking in immigrants big time for fifty or sixty years. If we are short of manpower why haven't successive governments encouraged an increase of our own indigenous population? Haven't we had sufficient time to increase family allowances, thus encouraging an upturn in the local population to achieve this?
