  1. Hi there, Our lovely son is nearly 15 and doing the DofE. As part of it he needs to have a role as a Volunteer for 3 months for one hour a week. He was thinking he'd like to help perhaps an older person, or someone who finds it tricky to get out, to do their weekly shop for them, or maybe help them in their garden. We are near Heber School in East Dulwich so ideally somewhere that wasn't too far would be great. Also open to other ideas. Many thanks!
  2. Hi all, my son is looking for Year 10 work experience for next year May 9th - May 12th He is particularly interested in finance and economics (and also very good at history and geography) It could be with an accountant or maybe the finance side of a small business/solicitors etc. He would particularly like a smaller, local company. Can anyone help out a lovely local boy? Many thanks! Lynners
  3. I saw a flier saying that this was happening specifically on the 28th March, but are people doing it every night? So lovely if they are. If so will try and get a Landells Road possie together. So lovely. The other one I've heard about is people putting a picture/painting of. rainbow in their window as a beacon of hope. Haven't seen this yet in East Dulwich but want to do this on the weekend.
  4. Waking up today to a very cold day we had the joys of a boiler that stopped working. Ringing around a lot of plumbers/gas engineers I was having no luck trying to find someone who could come out to look at it today. We have two kids so didn't love the idea of having no hot water or heating for too long. I spoke to Gerry who was also on a job and would struggle to get to me today. However he so very kindly said he could try and talk me through a solution to the problem which he did. With Gerry as my right hand man over speaker phone I managed to get the front off the boiler and reset it. Much joy was had as it kicked into action! Thanks so much Gerry for taking the time to help me. You are an absolute gentleman.
  5. Thanks so much for the info. Such a pity we're away that weekend. Any other way you know of getting hold of this bug man please? Best, Lynlea
  6. Ah yes. I had contacted her some time ago and I don't think she had any activities on for the older kids at the time - but I will absolutely double check to see if this has changed at all. Many thanks!
  7. Hi there, My son is hugely in to the outdoors and insects. Does anyone know of any foresting type club etc. for older kids? He's 10. I've been asking around for ages and they all seem to be for younger children. Anything with an insect/reptile vibe would be amazing too. Any suggestions greatly received! Thanks
  8. Hi there, I seem to have trapped a nerve in my back in a foolish overexercising kind of manner and it's proving rather challenging to get my toddler out of his cot etc. Fun times. Anyway never having been in this position before I don't know whether a physio or a chiropractor would be better to go to. Does anyone have any local recommendations for me please? I'm in SE22. Thank you.
  9. I've been going to Hummy Mummies for over a year now, also with my two boys. It has rekindled my love for singing and music, at the same time as providing my kids with a great outlet. They have fun playing in the hall with lots of other lovely kids whilst surrounded by music, and mums having a great time. All good. If you're looking for something that's as much fun for yourself as for your kids Hummy Mummies is it. Richard who runs the group is incredibly warm and welcoming, and very understanding of the rather unstructured needs of children, whilst running a very talented singing group. Hummy mummies is good for the soul and I'm so glad that I found it.
  10. Thank you. I will have a look in to these options. Much appreciated. They sound great. Unfortunately our school doesn't have an after school drama club. Oh how I wish they did.
  11. My 6 year old is very shy at performing in front of a big group but is quite dramatic at home. I really want to get him in to a drama class locally (SE22) to build his confidence. There are so many though that are also dancing/singing/west end based which is not him at all. Does anyone know any classes that are quite 'boy' based? Silly faces/voices etc. Thanks so much
  12. Hi there, I have a friend from South Africa who wants to see a gynaecologist quite quickly. Does anyone know of a private one available please. Thanks.
  13. Hi there. Is anyone still involved in Beavers? Very interested for my nearly 6 year old boy. Can anyone confirm times or have contact details? Thanks so much.
  14. What time is this session on at Darrell road please?
