Hi, I'd like to recommend Anna Carpenter for any painting / decorating work you need. Anna has painted various rooms and hallways in our house over the past few years. Her painting and finishes are always top quality and she's a delight to have around. If you need any painting done, I would highly recommend Anna, and I know that would be seconded (and thirded) by other friends and neighbours who Anna has also done work for. You can get in touch with her on 07983 589748

Adding another recommendation for Nico! He was quick to respond, came round straight away and sorted the problem. Really nice, helpful and trustworthy. We would highly recommend Nico - and thanks to ED Forum for the recommendation in the first place! :)

Hi, I'd like to donate to the PECAN Peckham food bank more often but find it hard to get to their office without a car and during mon-fri work hours. Does anyone know of any food collection points in ED / Peckham evenings or weekends? Thanks!

Warning: Dog loose bellenden road area (Monday May 1st)
PCM replied to BigDan's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It was brindle in colour and was wearing a wide leather collar. The police didn't catch it unfortunately but have passed the info to the RSPCA who will hopefully look at CCTV footage. If anyone knows, or suspects, where the dog lives, please report to the rspca as they can investigate. It's obviously a very dangerous animal. The cat the dog attacked (and killed) on Marsden Rd was black. The dog left it wounded on the pavement and the cat's owners were with it when it died shortly after. Sorry to be graphic but just so no one's worrying there's an injured cat hiding somewhere. -
Warning: Dog loose bellenden road area (Monday May 1st)

We've just seen it attack another cat on Marsden Road (just after 10am). We've phoned 999 - the police had logged it but hadn't sent anyone out yet! They are now on their way to the area with a dog van. Be careful - it was acting really aggressive. -

I'd like to add my recommendation to this thread. After 2 years of never finding enough time to sort out our garden, we were recommended Saied by a friend. In only a few days, he totally cleared our garden and levelled it, created lovely raised beds, a gravelled area, planted trees and evergreen plants and laid turf perfectly - our new garden looks amazing!! Saied was a pleasure to have around. He listened to what we wanted, gave us good advice and ordered everything we needed (compost, stones, top soil, wood, plants, turf etc), always waiting for the deliveries which made everything easy for us. Saied has a real passion for plants and he even went to the local garden centres and sent us photos so we could choose our favourites! All in all a great experience, we're thrilled with the results and we can't recommend Saied highly enough!

Am I making a horrible mistake? (Newborn naps)
PCM replied to Emski's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I have two children (2 and 4) and if I could go back and give myself advice when they were tiny it's that you can't do anything "wrong" when a baby is so small. Just do what feels right and what works to get your baby to sleep (feeding, rocking, carrying), and before you know it you'll be onto the next stage anyway - babies' own routines change weekly if not daily. Ignore Gina Ford! You'll know if / when the time is right to help them self settle (maybe a few months down the line) and children are so flexible that they'll adapt to a new routine or way of doing things after just 2 or 3 days when they're a bit older - so don't worry about anything you're doing now. Just give yourself a break, eat lots of cake and get through these precious but exhausting early weeks the best ways you can! -
I am considering having an au pair. Lots of questions!
PCM replied to Mellors's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Reading this with interest as we're wondering about taking on an au pair, too. Can anyone advise how much per week / month you pay? I've no idea even of the ballpark! Thanks. -
Our eldest will be starting school next September and we live close to both Goose Green and St John and St Clements primary schools. We've visited both and liked both for different reasons but we don't know many families with children who already attend. Does anyone have any tips / comments about these two schools? Are your children happy there? Any areas the schools needs to improve in? We're finding it difficult to choose between the two and it feels like such a big decision (and then no guarantee we'd get a place anyway I guess!) thank you.
