Another recommendation for Niko. He arrived in 10 minutes of me calling him and successfully fixed my annoying dripping tap! He did mention a problem with his phone, think it was stolen, but he is now available on 07818 607583

I’ve used the one in Crystal Palace and agree it’s very useful, got all sorts of handy items!

Sorry to hear about your daughter. I'm not quite sure how these things work but I was definitely able to keep the same number with no problem when I had my phone stolen, this was with t mobile.

Constant rubbish at Holmes Place, Oakhurst Grove
Red_Cat replied to Peckham Park's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There's a flipping sofa dumped there now as well - I honestly don't understand where this constant stream of cruddy old furniture comes from! I will write to L&Q too, will also suggest cctv as not sure what else will deter people -

I've emailed the council about this problem in the past and although they sometimes argue that it might be private land and therefore not their problem, they do come and remove it, or at least I assume it is the council that removes it, somebody does anyway. However, it is no sooner gone than overnight more rubbish appears, and this is not general household rubbish either I've seen old sofas, mattresses, office furniture etc. all sorts of stuff deposited there that somebody must be bringing in from somewhere. Anyway, my point is that contacting the council, even if they do come and remove it, does not seem to solve the problem, it just clears the space for whoever it is to dump more stuff there. I'm not sure what the answer is. -

Future Thameslink service from Peckham Rye
Red_Cat replied to jj2's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Renata, your summary of the situation is spot on, including the Victoria trains not appearing to be as busy. I cannot remember the last time a Thameslink train came on time in the morning and the severe overcrowding and risk of being left on the platform make it every day a very stressful and unpleasant experience getting to work. It is galling also to see trains from Kent with empty seats go straight through the station. I do hope something can be done about it as it appears to be getting worse and worse. -
Yes I agree it is not pleasant travelling on those trains these days. It didn't used to be like this but seems to becoming an increasingly sardine-like experience and people are certainly getting tetchy as they try and cram on, you can't always be certain of actually getting on. Just very recently they never, ever seem to be on time either. Must say I haven't actually complained to FCC but was thinking only yesterday of doing so, must get round to finding out how to do that...

Sue, I have noticed that some people have a smaller 'slimline' version of the green wheelie bin which might be more suitable, presumably we can just ask the council if we want to swap to this?

Marie Curie Charity Collector - Lordship Lane

I also encountered this gentleman today and was very impressed by his dedication in the freezing cold weather, he had by this time moved inside the co-op but was extremely polite and charming and people seemed more than happy to donate, he actually brightened up my day. -
Poached eggs. Always used to cook them in the microwave. Until one exploded in my face. Like a grenade. Don't do it.

Why didn't he just ask them to leave?

Spaangles30 whilst I respect that fact that you are entitled to your personal view that ivf is wrong, an easy viewpoint for someone who has been fortunate enough to have children to take, I do take issue with your scaremongering over what 'research suggests' You have manipulated the facts to suit your own viewpoint e.g 'The British study also showed that IVF twins tend to require more hospital treatment than youngsters from single births' it is the fact that they are twins that requires them to have more hospital treatment, not that they were created through IVF. Children are created in all kinds of circumstances, many naturally conceived children are not planned and some are not wanted and, sadly, treated accordingly. It is not the circumstances of their creation that is important but what happens after they are born and how they are loved and nurtured that counts -

Haven't heard them in the morning but when in the garden at the weekend have definitlely noticed an increase in the numbers of planes recently, they were going over at the rate of about one minute a couple of weeks ago and also flying much lower, think i read somewhere that flight paths have been changed

When and why did ED become so poncey?
Red_Cat replied to krosfyah's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think it just sells seconds and end of line stuff. A couple of years ago a family stopped me on rye lane and asked for directions to the Clarks 'factory shop' They were extremely excited at the prospect the entire family having come all the way from Kent specially as they'd heard so much about it! Seems like rye lane isn't quite dead after all.
