Does the size of a man's tackle matter?

re: Lelli Kelli shoes... after over a year of (intermittent) pleading and begging, i finally caved and bought my daughter a pair for her 5th birthday. i spent a small fortune on them (they were her ONLY birthday gift from us) and she has worn them, um, MAYBE three times since then (four months ago). so... i've learned my lesson. there will be no such momentary weaknesses in my future... no shoes with toys in the sole (have you heard of these crazy things?), nor shoes with roller skates in the heel. plimsolls and mary janes for school. maybe some wellies. i have only myself to blame. :-$

What's so great about living in East Dulwich?
shoshntosh replied to Spangles30's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
p.s. i compared till receipts from sainsbury's (east dulwich) and ocado (waitrose delivery scheme) and ocado was cheaper. (i know i need to get a job... no comments please on the dreadfully boring and pedantic ways in which i spend my spare time) -
speaking of which, i have tried to set up a neighbourhood watch in our street for over two years now (following a string of burglaries) but am getting sent from pillar to post at both police stations (east dulwich and peckham) with absolutely no response.

wasn't there a song: "the bigger the cushion... the better the pushin'...??"

Locale - new Restaurant and Cocktail Bar
shoshntosh replied to Marco's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
tried locale for lunch on saturday. service was friendly, food was fine. (my caesar salad had waaaaaayyy too much dressing on it, but would have otherwise been rather tasty.) beer was very good!! but quite frankly, i'd rather eat at home than go there again. a restaurant has to really amaze me, impress me, do something special, for me to be willing to return to it again and again. we are stuck in the mire of mediocrity. let's pool our money and open something superb! -
my kids have outgrown the pram, but i think i'll trot it out this weekend, on saturday specifically, for a slooooooowwww stroll down northcross road. not with the kids in it, mind you, because we will need it for our papers, shopping etc. i will put one kid on a scooter and one on the pedal-less bike, both on the crowded pavement of course. martin... what will you be wearing???

au ciel staff APPAULING!!! hurrah, at least it's not just me...
-
thank god it's not just me -- i NEARLY took my recent pooooooor experience at au ciel personally! the (french -- sorry!) woman behind the counter was completely put out that my friend and i ordered our coffees together but handed over money (pound coins, mind you) separately. she tutt-tutted, rolled her eyes... same general behaviour as described above. so i cheerfully asked "are you having a bad day?" she seemed shocked and replied "no. why?" to which i said "because you are making an awfully big deal out of this". let me add, the place was E M P T Y apart from us. humph. last time i go there for my coffee. at least the sometimes surly italian blokes around the corner provide a wee bit of eye candy from time to time!

Gina Ford says... (lounged - non ED specific)
shoshntosh replied to lily'smama's topic in The Lounge
hi lily's mama... i too have given away the same books but i seem to recall that around 12 months (of course this varies) they drop the morning nap and only have an afternoon nap (for two hours from just after lunchtime). i know that my two slept from about 1-3 everyday. you may have to tweak it a bit in the beginning to get the timing to work... (i.e. for her to make it through lunchtime without a sleep). hope this helps some. -
Few children from SE22 are privately educated
shoshntosh replied to trinity's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
i think the real problem is that we send our children to full-time school at age 5 (or in some cases age 4). it's barbaric! -

there's wankers in every class, every walk of life, both genders, childless or with children, at every school, in every country, and yes, even here in east dulwich (not on the forum of course!). i'm usually pretty nice, but catch me on a bad day, when i've had too little sleep and stepped in a pile of dog sh*te for the second time and locked myself out of the house... geez, i might just (for only a split second mind you) be something of a wanker too. i saw a friend diffuse what could have been a hostile situation beautifully: she and another driver got into a confrontation over right of way and he was cursing and gesturing rudely, so she rolled down her window and when he did the same she laughed and asked, in a flirty kind of way: "did you actually pass your driver's test?" the guy actually laughed, and apologised! imagine the improvement if we were all a little less reactive and a little more lighthearted... so often i react to aggression with aggression... maybe if someone is rude we could try asking: "are you having a bad day? anything i can do to help....?"

Jah Lush Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think we've got quite enough crap American > restaurants over here already. agreed, but there are also plenty crap english "restaurants". but does anyone on this forum actually like americans or anything about americans or about america (by which i presume we all mean the United States of America, rather than those other huge chunks attached at the top and bottom)? anti-americanism appears alive and well in east dulwich! -- at least on the east dulwich forum. too bad cuz yanks LOVE the english, and the scots and welsh too (not that most would detect the difference). methinks here there is possibly an empire hangover/chip on shoulder/inferiority complex....??? easy on, peeps. i would expect a culture that celebrates page three girls to be equally embracing of hooters...

not wishing to sound unwelcoming but... does anyone else feel that perhaps he ought to have mentioned in his first post that this is indeed a chain? it just feels a little misleading... by omission. as in "we spend our time working in the restaurant." shouldn't that be "restaurants" (plural), or is this a franchise? -
ronnyb Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sorry, yes, there was a small dig a prams, ...I will > myself be very soon with infant to negotiate... > Are you KIDDING ME???? This was not a "small dig at prams"... And not only are you about to have a baby, I presume you once were one yourself? Shall all of us with small children who like to stroll down Northcross Rd (or on any of the narrow pavements in our fair city) simply stay home. This lends a whole new dimension to children should be seen and not heard. According to you, not even seen! I love the "please be considerate" part... oh yes, sure... next time I am planning a shopping trip with my two small kids I will be sure to think about YOU! not. >

spadetown boy clearly has some social issues to address. even if you disagree with how wallet handled this there is no reason to refer to what he did as stupid.
