Turney Road / Dulwich Village / Court Lane junction
shoshntosh replied to fordybee's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks very much for sharing this experience, Fordybee. My children walk to school that route every single day and I had no idea this was happening so I will check it out. p.s. Lowlander, As the word kindergarten is actually (and obviously) a German word it is possible that WonderCat could be from somewhere other than the US. -
Potentially dangerous cycling dog-walker.
shoshntosh replied to almost peckham's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I very stupidly once tried to cycle with my dog on a lead -- oh my god, I knew it was pretty dumb before I set off but my dog gave me those sad "don't leave me" eyes. We made it about one block before I turned back. Super unsafe for my dog, super unsafe for me, and unsafe for others too. Dumb dumb dumb. To attempt this with several dogs is beyond dumb (at least I'm not THAT). I will NEVER attempt this again. -
This is a very serious and unfortunately chronic problem -- people with serious mental health issues being "fobbed off" by their GPs. I've grown to understand, through talking with DR friends, the myriad complicated reasons for this. But whatever the reasons, it is unacceptable. (You are fortunate that you can go private & I really hope you get the help you need). I had a friend visit her GP 7 times with symptoms similar to yours and she was told, each time, "you just need to relax", and "reduce your stress levels". It was complete bollocks. I wonder if you have considered contacting MIND (the mental health charity)? 0300 123 3393 You might also try The Vale Practice or Eve Therapy, both in East Dulwich. Good luck and well done for reaching out when you knew something wasn't right. It takes courage to do that.

Camber Sands is beautiful -- about two hours' drive.

i honestly don't see what the fuss is about. IF they did rip it off, they improved upon it so much that it's virtually unrecognisable. then again, i'm no musician (and i am a LZ fan so...)

I still don't know what happened but it appeared closed this morning, with a sign reading Closed for Mechanical Issue or something like that.

was in Rocca last night when there was a very loud explosion that shook the building considerably (around 8.30). The alarms then went off and we were evacuated from the building. It remains closed today. Anyone know what happened?

Okay so does anyone have Colin's actual e-mail address as the one in the IP does not seem to work? THANKS!

Hi I want to take an introductory graphic design class, and am unsure of the different benefits/end uses of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and AfterEffects. I've done a little research but am looking for practical feedback from experienced users. I would like to be able to create flyers, brochures, and posters, and also enhance my PowerPoint presentations. Based on these desired outcomes, which software would be best? Thanks for any and all advice! S

shoshntosh replied to joannapratt's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oh my gosh this was so kind of you. How annoying that it hasn't been returned. I hope if you don't get it back then some kindly person here on the forum will donate a similar pre-loved one to you. If I had one, I would. -
Has anyone been to the big flower market? Where is it and how early can one go? Thanks

Thanks, all, for the advice. Have put RSPCA number into my phone if I should have a future such encounter. Very relieved it had moved on as hopefully it wasn't as injured as it seemed. I really have seen a LOT of foxes around lately... I used to see them occasionally but now seem to see them frequently. I guess that means they are thriving (generally)?

Just a head's up that there is a wounded (or sick?) fox on Bassano St. When I drove down the road about 10-15 mins ago it was sitting right in the middle of street and seemed alert but unable to move. It finally sort of dragged itself to underneath a nearby car. Really sad and pitiful. Looked like possible its hind legs had been broken? Where I'm from in New Hampshire it is custom to put an animal like that out of its misery. Unfortunately I couldn't do it. Poor foxy. I know they can be a nuisance sometimes but I don't like to see them suffer. It was full grown and otherwise quite beautiful.

Did i see Robert Downey Jr on lordship lane yesterday
shoshntosh replied to niall's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oh east dulwich forum, how I've missed you! -
thanks guys. we do have 12 bedrooms and a guest cottage over there so plenty of space for a forum field trip... (yes, i know, now i'm just bragging... but that's what you get in NH for selling a house in ED). sorry. and yes, i could log on from the US, but i think it will just make me sad and homesick, all you clever clever people having monthly drinks and exchanging witty banter. whilst i have earnest, heartfelt conversations all the time.

dear ladymuck yesterday was meant to be my last post but i just want to reply to this thread so badly! can i ask what exactly is it that is bothering you so much... that she will cease to exist or that she is choosing to commit suicide? (i sincerely don't mean this in a rude way, am just trying to help you work through it). death is always going to be difficult, but she has had, as they say, "good innings" and she sounds ready to go. if it's the suicide part of the equation, then it's a little more difficult to unpick what is upsetting you so much about that... are you a religious person (and does suicide run counter to your beliefs)? are you just sad that she is so unhappy/discontent? are you a natural "fixer"? because sometimes i think, well... i have experienced, that suicide leaves the living feeling as though they could have/would have/should have been able to do something to help. but usually they couldn't. and in this case, you cannot. so please do not burden yourself with that. you have already helped her immensely. try to find some peace within yourself on this issue... either through prayer, meditation, reading, writing, or talking (like this even), and then go and say your goodbyes. the very last gift you can give her, as one of her few friends on this entire planet, is not to judge her, and to let her go. i similarly had to let my mother go and, although it was horribly painful, i am glad i did. good luck, ladymuck. (and well done for braving the forum with this thread)

dear fellow forum-ites just a quick "farewell" message as tosh and i are heading west to the new world (new england to be exact) to raise our kids in the shadows of new hampshire's white mountains. it's been a great pleasure logging on for my forum "fixes" these past couple of years. i have to say that my new local forum (from what i've seen thus far) just doesn't compare. but then, perhaps i will feel less in awe of the incredible wit of the ED forum regulars and therefore more at home there! we yanks just don't seem to have the mental inventiveness that you all have. (see how i can blame my bluntness on my nationality?) be well, all! signing off now... shosh p.s. many many thanks to the admins for all their work on the forum -- it has been an incredible resource for us
