Water birth at kings college hospital
Loz334 replied to DizzyVB's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi there, Kings hold twice monthly drop-in sessions held on the first and third Tuesday of the month. You just meet at the Nightingale Birth Centre reception desk at 6.30pm. No need to book. I found this helpful as could ask questions and look at the rooms. I think there are 4 pools. I thought about having a waterbirth but wasn't desperate for that to be my only option which was good as when it came to it, the pool was available but the pump wasn't working. (This was 3 years ago though!) Good luck 😊 -

Golden Bay easier to access with kids in buggy though Playgrounds - marsascala family park, park by aquarium (Saint Paul's Bay) Pembroke park Tigne point is nice mall with small soft play Portomaso marina nice for walk around boats Vittoriosa Enjoy!! -

We've taken our abroad twice. First time it came out with the seat hanging off and about to break so the next time we just tied it up to keep it together and was fine. -
I second The Wolseley especially if you're looking for something traditional. Or something different, the rock n roll themed afternoon tea at the W Hotel on Leicester Square is really good- ?25

Teenager son skin woes - any advice?
Loz334 replied to DenmotherSmith's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I had acne as a teenager and tried many different treatments from the GP. They would work for a bit and then it would just come back. I tried homeopathy but I didn't see any difference. At 19 I asked my GP for a referral to a dermatologist that my cousin saw. She'd been given roaccutane and her skin cleared up. I really had to be persistent To get it prescribed but with one course of it my skin cleared. It meant a few months of even worse skin to begin with as I was warned it gets worse before it gets better but worth it for the end result. Definitely worth exploring treatments with the GP. You might find something that works without having to go down that route as it can have side effects. Good luck! -

Greenelf, we fly to Nerja on Saturday for 2 weeks. I've never been before but my parents go every year and have stayed in various apartments on the complex called Oasis de Capistrano. Can be found on owners direct or holiday lettings. L -
Ideas for original present for first time mum to be
Loz334 replied to SebsC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I would agree with Emilypie in recommending Cook. The evening we came back from the hospital with our newborn there was a knock on the door and a delivery guy from Cook with bags of food and a bottle of fizz. Some friends had ordered us a load of really nice meals such as risotto, fish pie, Moroccan tagine and desserts. My mum also gave us loads of homemade meals so we were sorted for a while. Was a great present! L -
Winter babies club (due Dec 2013, Jan/ Feb 2014)
Loz334 replied to tarafitness's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Ladies and congratulations! Exciting times ahead :-) I had my baby at Kings in March and I was hoping to use a birthing pool more for pain relief and then see how I went. I had been to one of the talks which was useful and one of the questions asked was if the pools are ever unavailable due to too many people. They said its very rare so I was happy when I got there in labour and was given a room with the pool. However then found out although there was a pool free, the pump wasn't working so couldn't use it. I ended up using the disabled bath but it wasn't comfortable after a while as i couldn't get my bump and back under the water at the same time and was sliding around a bit. Was nice being in the water for a little while though. They were doing some work on the pools so hopefully they are all up and running now! -
Hi OverTheRainbows, ours was end of June. Passport office confirmed receipt on 26th June and it was back 11th/12th July It was more expensive through the post office but as it was 8 weeks before our holiday, I was paranoid I'd get something wrong on the form/with the ID and would get it sent back! Good luck - I'm sure you'll have enough time :-)

I recently got my daughter's first passport and applied through the Post Office. The passport office texted me about 5 days later to confirm receipt and then it was 16 days before it came through so you should be fine

I wasn't too worried about a routine to begin with and just went with the flow. We had a hard time getting the little one to sleep in her cot for the first few months and when she napped in the day, it would only work by putting her in the baby bjorn and transferring her to her bouncer chair.Or I had to feed her to sleep. She's 4 months old now and in the last few weeks things have started to fall into place. I recognise quickly when she's tired and she goes in her cot... I did have to sit next to it and shoosh quite a bit to start with. Her bedtime routine is a bath, feed I'm the bedroom with the tunes from the monitor playing. Seems to be working but I know things can easily change! Saying all that, I finally had a night out for dinner last night with a friend and got back to find buba hadn't had a bath, wouldn't feed and was sleeping on my other half in front of the tv at 11pm. I had to stop myself saying 'you've ruined the routine!!'

I used www.paspic.com and uploaded my own photo. I had visions of my 3 month old screaming in a shop so i just waited until she was in a good mood at home and put her on an off-white blanket and took some pics. Upload it and they will let you know if its not suitable.
