  1. Wearing wellies around the streets of Dulwich Village. We're not in the fucking countryside.
  2. Wearing a football shirt down the pub when you have a massive beer gut.
  3. You forgot to mention whether your pants would have skids on them.
  4. Those teenage girls who used to go round sucking dummies....WTF was that all about?
  5. Long hair on any bloke over fifty.
  6. Three quarter length trousers on middle aged blokes.
  7. well I suppose I was talking about novice riders.
  8. That's good to know. I guess they must have to tick a few boxes though before you recruit them as novices though don't they? Not sure this should be discussed in a cycling thread...but what the hell eh.
  9. 'Hate' is probably the wrong word really for how you feel about them .......'pity' maybe?
  10. Blokes who need to be trained to satisfy your sexual appetite.
  11. ...and then spending time commenting on it.
  12. Wayne Rooney's hair transplant.
  13. The Shell Suit ?
  14. Sh1t...forgot about Apocalypse Now. As epic as the Godfather trilogy is, I always thought Donnie Brasco captured the 'street level' type of Mafia life that the Godfather doesn't really represent. Also, it's from the viewpoint of an outsider, an undercover cop, which adds a different twist to it.

I think sex with someone who doesn't want it is always a turn off, regardless of what type of sexual partners you have previously had.
  16. Sorry missed your post Jeremy. Martial arts and fighting are one in the same.....in my opinion that is.
  17. I'm not sure anymore whether to post about war films, action films or martial arts films, so I'll do all three and then some: Best War film : 'Platoon'. Best Action film: 'Terminator 2' Best Martial Arts film: 'Enter the Dragon' (though I have to give a nod towards 'Blade' which I thought had some good martial arts set pieces) Best Thriller: Marathon Man Best Gangster film: 'Donnie Brasco'. (very underrated and based on a true story) Best Horror: 'The Shining'.
  18. 'Band of Brothers' was a superb series, as was 'The Pacific'.
  19. On reflection I'm not sure if you are right about 'Old Boy' not being a martial arts film Jeremy. There are a hell of a lot of fight scenes in it. Does this not qualify it as being in the martial arts genre?
  20. Thanks Damian and LadyGooner for your advice.
  21. South Korean to be precise.
  22. Good point about WW1, but I'm sure a clever and creative director could make the trench experience into a stimulating, interesting and watchable film. Someone like Danny Boyle for instance. He did this with 127 hours, which essentially was a film about a bloke trapped in a cave.
  23. I take your point *Bob*, and I agree that SPR is graphically very violent. But I cannot think of a WW2 film set in Europe, or anywhere else int he world for that matter, that gives a more visceral and realistic depiction of what that War must have been like. The first 30 minutes of the film is breathtaking and Spielberg cleverly captures the intensity and chaos captured by the Robert Capa photographs of the Normandy landings.
  24. I wonder if anyone can offer some advice? My 73 year old dad suffers from debilitating, chronic back pain. He has suffered with it for probably around 15 years now. He is on very strong painkillers, but they only give him a brief respite during the day. He has a combination of Sciatica and a trapped nerve in his lower back, at least that's what his doctor suspects. Truth is they've never really been able to help him. He has had back surgery, epidurals and acupuncture, all to no avail. I'm not sure they really know what the cause is as he's booked in for another MIR scan next week. I just wondered if anyone else has suffered from this and if so, is there anything else that may give him some relief, no matter how small? It breaks my heart as he can barely walk now and shuffles around in obvious pain and discomfort with a crutch. :(
  25. I'm wondering when the definitive World War 1 film is going to be made which truly depicts the horror and brutality of the trenches? Something along the lines of a 'Saving Private Ryan' for the Somme. I heard somewhere that Birdsong is being turned into a movie. On the subject of Korean films, one very strange but very good martial arts film I once saw was called 'Old Boy'. Some very tough fight scenes and a rather gross live octopus eating scene that turns the stomach.
