Bike locks cut off, Dulwich Leisure Centre
CF replied to Dammit's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
hi we leave our bike lock there each day as my husband or i use it each day. they did not put up any signs, that is a lie! one day our bike lock was there, the next day it was not we complained as my husband had no where to lock his bike they kept it in the office while he went for a work out and they offered us a refund of our 50% of our gym membership to pay for a new lock. the reason they gave for cutting them off was that they looked 'untidy'! -
http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200083/roads_highways_and_pavements/608/roadworks_timetable/1 i am a shopkeeper on bellenden road and we have spoken to southwark highways before christmas regarding the road works that seem to be continuously blocking up bellenden road for the past 2 years on and off the current road works are a continutation of the the road works from before christmas, we managed to get them to postpone them for dec and jan. please continue to complain as the more complaints means they will speed up the works, link attached to this post it is so damanging to the businesses and also so infuriating to the people who live in the area, so please complain

Child missing Bellenden Road (now found)
CF replied to kittysailing's topic in The Family Room Discussion
hi just to say thank you so much to everyone who helped today looking for my little boy. the police, neighbours, friends, shop keepers, strangers where brilliant! even in my distaught 45 mins of not knowing where lucas was i was really touched by how many people dropped what they were doing to help us search. 2 girls found him crying and unfortunatly instead of calling police took him to my elderly neighbour (about 8 minutes walk from where we were original looking) my elderly neighbour wasnt too sure what was going on and didnt have my number to call me so just held on to him. my other neighbour was stood outside my house just in case and my elderly neighbour spotted her and told her she had lucas! which is when the police called me and i got the best news that he had been found! once again thank you all so much for your help lucas is now chained to my side! m x -
the 2 lollipop people on lordship lane/townley road are not allocated for Heber School, so they must be for Alleyns. the lollipop person at heber school had to be applied for last year, before that their was no lollipop person.

Drivers be aware. (toddlers on bikes, Hindmans Road)
CF replied to Morag's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
dear thexwinglessxbird the situation you are talking about i think was me. (however not the situation on hindmans road) My take on what happenend was that you walked out into the road without looking and i had to severly brake and shout at you as you seemed to still not notice i was there. I am pretty sure though I didnt call you a stupid cow. As i recall you just carried on walking across the road as though nothing had happened I wasnt going very fast - probably about 10 mph, my child was on a front mounted seat, with a helmet on and a seatbelt. perfectly legal. I sometimes drive down there in my car so you were lucky it wasnt that day or i would of knocked you over. just so you know it made me upset and shocked aswell. because you didnt look properly when you crossed and you could of caused my child and me to fall off and i could of also hurt you. hopefully in future you will learn to look before you cross the road. thank you muley for your view on the situation aswell - you are 100% correct on all of it ps thexwinglessxbird i am not a snooty or stupid cow thexwinglessxbird -

i cycle everyday with my 6 year old who has been cycling to school since he was 4 1/2, with a helmet and high vis bib. I cycled on the road and he would cycle on the pavement. He woudlnt go fast, always stopped for driveways etc, slowed down to standstill when pedestrians would be coming. However I still use to get lots of abuse from people telling me he shouldnt be cycling on the pavement!? he is now 6 and we do part pavement, part road where i feel comfortable that he can be seen and i always cover him when cars come past him. as a parent it is very scary letting your child cycle on the road and i would much rather him cycle on the pavement however sick of the abuse i use to get from pedestrians. I remember one woman shouting at him saying he was too old to ride on the pavement and that i should get a car!!!! he was 5 at the time !!! she definatly got a mouthful back from me! -
i live at the bottom of keston road and its really nice round here, just remember east dulwich road is 2 streets away from keston road which is se22 - east dulwich. dont get hung up on the peckham thing, i have lived here 5 years and 3 years on oglander road, peckham is cool and you have the gowlett which is fab and then bellenden road shops nearby and peckham rye station which is really well connected go on - give peckham a chance!
