  1. No, it's fine for _me_ to drive around while talking on my mobile 'phone. I'm terribly important, you see, and of course I'm a better driver than everyone else so when I make a judgement call I should be outside the law. The law's really only for those stupid people that get in my way. Tsk, I don't know, ridiculous pathetic nanny state trying to tell _me_ which laws I should avoid. I'm crossing my arms and ignoring it, la la la. : P
  2. "There are no dogs except guide dogs", often abbreviated, is one I find a little rude to the rest of the dog community... : P
  3. A "decent" person is "us". An "indecent" person is "them". ;) : P
  4. But if they say "we want your ???" then people get stroppy. If they spend ten minutes to print out an A4 bit of paper that says "we're a dolphin-friendly fair trade additive-free organic no child labour green happy sort of place that doesn't even use capital letters" then people seem to forget that _any_ retailer's bottom line is "we want your ???" and are more easily fooled into parting with their money... : P
  5. Simple solution, eater81. Just remove the licence plates from your vehicle. This will prevent the cameras identifying your vehicle. After all if it's just up to what you consider to be safe, then having no number plates isn't going to hurt anyone, is it? : P
  6. Most decent people. Most people, in fact, decent or otherwise. They would have considered the majority. : P
  7. Most decent people are on their way to being up, dressed and preparing for their daily business at 8am. Many decent people are already at work. By the sound of it, that's quite a sensible time to start. Daylight ensured and they're likely to finish earlier in the day so that by the time the majority of people come back from work the noisy stuff is finished and they can put their children to sleep. : P
  8. eater81, I'd like to congratulate you on some top trolling today. : P
  9. Balfe's bikes. The bloke seems to be working pretty hard to set the shop up. : P
  10. > The Magdala has been taken over by the woman who owns Grace and Favour Hooray! I've always thought East Dulwich didn't have enough "twee". : P
  11. Maybe the earphones aren't connected to a 'phone, maybe they're connected to an iPod and he is in fact learning another language - "ecoutez et repetez... *ding*" : P
  12. Some people simply aren't able to get to the shops when they're open to drop off their clothes. That's not enough of an excuse for fly-tipping, however well meant. However, there's a bin round the corner from the Mind shop on the EDT roundabout that you can drop in 24hrs/day, or as someone else has said, there's a bin in Sainsbury's car park. : P
  13. AcedOut, I'm with you except for point 18 - it's great having a police station there. I'd add: 20) two-foot-wide cycle lanes on _all_ major roads (LL, Grove Vale, EDG, Peckham Rye etc.) - drive a car in them and get a ?200 fine, park in them and get a ?500 fine. 21) increase my own profits so we could move back a bit closer to East Dulwich... :( : P
  14. Yes, I saw the other thread about "...service at the Herne"! No joy in the What's On forum. Hm. : P
  15. Fox hunting isn't about fox population control any more than bull fighting ot badger baiting is. I'm not arguing that that makes it any more right or wrong, but it's futile to attempt to use that excuse to justify it. If you're getting lots of your mates, their horses and their dogs, together, to run rough-shod across other people's land and kill an animal at the end of it, at least admit that you're doing it for kicks. Don't try and justify it in fox population terms, it's irrelevant. : P
  16. That's pretty foul - are you on a street near a pub? And what time in the morning was it? I have a comical mental image of a be-suited commuter putting down his laptop bag to squat in your doorway... sorry, that's horrible, hope the mess and smell went away easily! : P
  17. My folks are coming up to visit from Fri afternoon to Tuesday morning, was wondering what's on. Does anyone know if there's one at the Herne on Sunday? (They're not answering their phone at the moment) Or any others anywhere else in that time frame, for that matter? : P
  18. To take pleasure in the pain of another creature is obscene (Pierre please take note) Sorry, didn't mean to sound like I'd take pleasure in the pain of another creature. That's very far from the truth. Unless you're implying I'm trying to cause MadWorld74 pain, in which case I'm certainly not; I feel sad for his / her upset and wouldn't wish anyone to see an animal die in pain. I was just providing a counter-argument along the lines of "any fool could have seen that cashpoint was rigged"... ;) : P
  19. oh heck, OK I'll rise to it. I appreciate that I'm only entitled to (just looking up number of posts) 74/1308th of your opinion, apparently, but do you not see the inconsistency in your story? You're clearly not averse to killing animals. Rat poison to "get rid" of rats doesn't politely ask rats to leave the area, it kills them. So was your heartbreak because it was an ickle baby fox cub? Would you have been less upset if it was a fully grown mangy grubby urban fox that had been pulling apart your bin bags, urinating on your garden plants, killing your neighbours' rabbit and loudly mating under your window at 3am? : P
  20. And who the f*ck are you, Pierre? ...another forum poster with another opinion, dear. I'm amused that you're crying about one form of vermin dying while you're trying to kill another. That, or you're doing some superb trolling. ;) : P
  21. So you put down poison to kill those poor sweet baby rats? Imagine their helpless cries as they perish. You heartless swine. : P
  22. Hi, do you lot know which pub quizzes are on, and where, this coming weekend? I've been to the Mag and the Gowlett ones in the past but I know that at least one of those is (in)definitely off! : P
  23. Before I post what I mean to say, I'm keen to point out that I'm not competing to be the perfect liberal, that I think it's probably a good idea to warn others of someone's suspicious behaviour but that if you see something suspicious you should act on it at the time. Anyway... There's nothing wrong with paranoia in this day and age. At the risk of re-inflaming the argument, paranoia is never justifiable. Especially when it's encouraged and endorsed by those with advertising space to sell, whether on news paper or around web pages. As tabloid and magazine editors have said in the past, giving people something to hate increases sales. Also, I don't believe "this day and age" are any worse than any other day and age. There have always been people who are turned on by doing wrong to others. Sometimes they get organised into groups, sometimes they act on their own. Sometimes someone will convince themselves that things were better in the good old days but I don't believe that's true, I think it's usually because that person was more naive before that point. Then again, my opinion's only as valid as anyone else's. Unless that someone else has children... ;) : P
  24. Don't feed them bread and milk. Somewhere in some children's book I once read, some children did that to nurse a sick hedgehog back to health. I've never done it, but I've been told by a couple of vets that it's a terrible idea. It'll just make them really ill. HTH! : P
