  1. so was she stabbed in the tummy too? does anyone know if she is ok?
  2. hi fushia glad to hear all is good, its so horrible sitting there waiting to go in, Im 7 weeks at the min and was getting terrible pain in my side so had to go for scan last week and went for second on tues but all is fine so far. Its just so horrible sitting there waiting to find out if its ok or not and seeing ladies coming out obviously having been crying etc-horrible. glad you are all good and fingers crossed we both have no more problems xx
  3. hi we are at the start (lordship lane end) of overhill and have heard and seen nothing.
  4. hi we had the silver cross 3d pram and loved it. It costs about ?300 new but you can get them on ebay. I loved everything about it, its a lie flat parent facing pram so you can see when your baby is awake/been sick etc. Great support for their backs, its got a small padded velcro strap to go around the waist to hold them secure it you go on a bus etc. but in a few seconds you can convert it to a pushchair, you take the liner out(white fabric liner that takes up hardly any room to store)click the back up and footrest down and turn the hood around and you are done into buggy mode. the thing we loved is when its in buggy it still lies completely flat for naps etc. And there is no big pieces to store. alot of these prams you have to take the carry cot off and put another seat on the chassis for it to be a buggy then you have the carry cot to store but with this one its just a big fabric liner to store away. Also when you need to fold the buggy down, this is very close to an umbrella fold so very compact for a pram when folded and no having to take wheels off or carrycots off it all folds down together. We also found this was so comfy for our little one that we would put her in the pram during the day and wheel it into the living room saving having to buy a moses basket too. If you buy the car seat too it can be used as a travel system aswell.
  5. Peckham bus station in winter whilst standing at the bus stop, never though my nipples would be out there!
  6. do you really need to pay for your scan pics now? if you buy 2 tickets do you get 2 different ones(from different angle etc)? I never had to pay when I had my little one.
  7. hi we used the one in the link below, its from jo jo maman bebe and it was fantastic, It s ?8 and it fastens on with little clips so you can put it on anything, really really useful. We used it on a high chair when on hol, on the carseat in the car and on the buggy. its pop up so it folds down to about the size of a side plate and is very very lightweight and so small you can just have it slipped in your change bag incase its needed. and you buy them in dulwich. sunshade link
  8. hi fushia, I got a lot of mat clothes from new look but not all of their store do there mat range. But if there is a way of finding out which ones do then its worth a look, def most reasonable and comfortable that I found and good price for clothes you will only wear for a few months. Think combat style trs and jeans were ?8-12. Ive never been to blue water either so if you fancy a virgin shopping trip let me know, leanne
  9. hi went to the o2 last night, and def the new overground was so easy, ?1.30 and there in less than an hour including the 25 min walk up the hill. we used panther cabs to come back and booked it in advance for and hour after the gig finished(bars were still open inside 02)picked us up on millenium way. Cost ?20 back bargain and so easy.
  10. hi have a look at buy a gift.com (link below) lots of gift ideas and packages. you can search by price range and or male female etc. Great ideas. A friend got a ticket for 8 children(over 12's) to go paintballing for ?20. Might be an idea then he can have a fun day out with his friends. www.buyagift.com and when you buy something from their site they send you a loyalty card which gets you ?5 off every future purchase which is great. (I use this site now to send flowers as its the cheapest way with getting ?5 off each time) but if you do order from this site type 159357(my discount code) in at the checkout and you will get the ?5 off. hope you find something suitable soon, leanne
  11. hi with the milk thing try expressing milk and mixing with cows milk. I had to give up breast feeding at 4 months due to some problems and out little one was on formula and she wouldnt switch to cows milk so in the end I weaned over a week by doing 6oz formula 1 oz cows, 2nd night 5 oz formula and 2 oz cows and so on until it was all cows milk worked a treat. if he dosent want milk though I wouldnt worry our little one went through a stage (cant remember how old she was) but she refused all milk for about 2 weeks and I worried but health visitor said not to worry just make sure you get pleanty of calcium into them. and its surprising how much calcium in in things, so lots of fromage frais, raisins! cheese, calcium enritched orange juice, bread etc. I prob went overboard and found out how many mg's of calcium they needed per day and then wrote down how much she had had from what foods(printed a list off internet) but after a week she had had over the daily amount needed just from her normal food without me trying to up her calcium intake so I stopped worrying. fingers crossed its all sorted soon cant comment on naps as my little one never seemed to nap in the same way the other kids were doing!
  12. hi I made some of the costumes for this production of Oliver so I know the show very well! Dont sit it the stalls for this production. It has been designed to be watched from the dress circle so the view point is perfect from here. There is street scenes like consider yourself where the set moves as they are walking along the street ect and from the stalls you are too low down so miss all of this. Also miss some of the action when you are in fagins lair. If you were higher up than the dress circle I think you would only miss the unimportant action where people are walking along the street above fagins lair. Def go higher up than the stalls. Also when you book tickets if at all possible get them direct from theatre. You will save yourself huge booking fees(which could be spent on icecreams instead!) and they have better seats available. They release the worse seats available(the ones ath the back and sides) to the agencies first and keep the better ones at the box office. same goes for the half price ticket booth in London By the time you pay a booking fee there you usually would end up with better tickets for about ?5 more if you went direct to the box office as they def get allocated the side seats first. hope you enjoy the show, If you want interval drinks then order them at the pub across the road from the theatre The Nell Of Old Drury. Fantastic little pub and drinks will be cheaper than in the theatre.
  13. hi My husband works saturdays and our other mummy/children friends seem to only want family time at the weekends so my daughter(2yrs 6 months) and I find saturdays very long and boring so if you want a saturday park meet up let me know. leanne
  14. hi I couldnt do nct with my work schedule so it wasnt an option for us so we did the nhs ones at dulwich hospital. I obviously cant compare them but I though the nhs ones were great, lots of info felt really prepared for what was about to happen. The social thing didnt really happen at the classes as there wasnt time but the teacher did do a list of everyones email addresses and put a message round so we could stay in touch. Out of our class 4 couples stayed in touch with each other. Purely by emailing over the first month or 2 until the babies were all born then we started meeting up and nearly 3 years on we see each other regularly. SO if you do opt for the nhs ones you can still make friends it just might happen afterwards rather than at the classes.
  15. you can get the childrens nurafen off the shelf in the sains near the library and last bank hol it was open till 11 as usual so guess it will be the same today.
  16. hi does anyone know what was happening in Dulwich last night? not sure of the exact time but at around 11-11.30 there was loads of fire engines going up Overhill road then a crane went up. What was on fire and was anyone hurt? Hate to see so many engines as you know it must have been serious. Hope everyone was ok.
  17. boots do a sanctuary mums to be gift box of goodies to treat herself. I got one for my friend in the same situation after she finally got pregnant after a couple of miscarriages and she was over the moon with it as It was something for her and not too baby related when she was scared stiff incase anything went wrong again.
  18. hi thanks everyone, she has been down for nursery since she was 2 but thought maybe I should have done school too, all clear now, dan if you cant get into a school for nursery try dulwich village preschool. you have to pay before they are 3 but its about ?190 per term. and its exactly like being in a school nursery, then next best thing. We are sending our little one in sept as I dont like the idea of going from being with me to 5 days/sessions a week think it would be a huge shock for her so sending her for 1 term for 2 days a week. Hope fully she will then get a place from jan for a school based nursery as she will then be 3 but if not we will keep her on at the pre-school. It was lovely and I dont think they are full at the min as my friend has just managed to swap days around which they couldnt do if it was full.
  19. thats great thanks everyone she will be 3 in nov so guess I will have to apply autumn next year(2011) for her to start the following sept(2012) as will be too young to start next autunm as she will only be 3 3/4 next sept. thanks was just worried when someone said she should be down already.
  20. hi can anyone tell me about the process of applying to infants school. I thought you had to apply the spring before they have to start. So if they were to start this sept you would apply now in april. someone told me that its a year ahead so if it was next september you would apply now then someone else said yesterday that you can put their names down now. does anyone know which one it is? luckily our little ones birthday is in the nov so she wont start until she is nearly 5 so loads of time to sort it out but was just wondering which one was true. thanks
  21. hi I can highly recommend dulwich village pre=school its lovely and not too much of a waiting list, think its not too well known and out of the way a bit(its in the old alleyans rugby club)down college road. But its the same feeling and atmoshphere as them going to a school nursery, its non profit making so every penny goes on staff wages and back into the nursery. They have evenings(halloween, etc) for you to meet your childrens friends parents and to raise more funds for new equiptment etc. It looks out over the rugby pitch then the pary is across from that so its in a beautiful setting. There is a lovely garden too with veg patch and pirate ship etc. Its term time only but fees really reasonable(about ?190 per term I think for 2 sessions a week)when we applied there was about a 6 month waiting list so not too bad.
  22. a great book to look at is the annabel karmel food plannner. It has sort of meal timetables so you know how much and how often to give food and meal ideas etc. Also says when to introduce new foods etc was brilliant. I didnt follow it exactly as stated(its very detailed saying what to give for everymeal, I mixed it up to suit me) but I found it very useful to help with when to drop bottles and quantaties etc. you might be able to get a copy form the library or we got ours from amazon.
  23. hi our little one will be 3 in nov and planning on getting rid of the dummy then too but if its the daytime that is bothering you could you not trlent for the night time but stick to your guns during the day? would she understand that she can have it for sleeping but not daytimes. It used to drive me mad that ours wanted hers during the day but we managed to get her to leave her dummy upstairs in a pocket on her bedguard in the morning and she wouldnt have it until she want back to bed. If she needed a nap she could have it for in the buggy to sleep but when she woke we would whip it straight out. it worked and after a couple of days she knew the routine. (we have regressed and she has it again now as she got quite sick and it was a comfort to her but now she is on the mend we are going to start the process of no dummy again.) might be a good compromise for all of you.
  24. hi If you are using foil balloons they will stay up for a week so you can get them done a couple of days before. If you are doing latex balloons they are only guaranteed for 6 hrs then they will start to go down. If you are having a party and want 10 or more it will be more cost effective to get a gas canister and do them at home. If you are not confident to do this yourself I do party decorations and could order, then come and blow them up for you and arrange them in the house/party area but it is easy to do and will work out cheaper than paying for them at a florist etc, leanne
  25. hi I would say if you are still getting pain/discomfort 6/7months after the birth def go and see the doctor. I had a 2nd degree tear and had quite a few stitches. A year after the baby was born I was still in discomfort, was ok day to day but If I touched the area it was tender, and using tampons or intercourse was a real no-no! my poor husband had to wait until I was drunk enough to give it a go and I would spent the next day in pain. After a year I had to get over my embarrassment and go and see the doctor. After being refered to kings it turns out the I was sewn up too far leaving a ridge of skin over the opening which was causing the pain. It took till my daughter was 22 months for all the appointments to come through and I had a small op to open the area back up and get it re-sewn. after a few weeks to let the new set of stitches heal I was all sorted- no pain as it should be. It really is worth going to see your gp and just see as it took 10 months from the first appointment at the doctors to the operation. I wish id gone sooner. Also if your gut feeling is that there is something wrong stick to your guns. The first doctor I saw said about the stitching being done too tight and he said just wait until you get pregnant again and you will tear again and we will sort you out then!!! As demanded to see someone else as there was no way I could try for a baby with the pain I was in so that was never an option. in the end all is fine and we are trying for baby number 2 now but stick with your gut feeling, dont be embarrassed and look after yourself. hope it all gets better for you soon
