Thank you very much. That's very helpful.

Thank you Can I then just decline the place if I am not happy with it.

I have some questions regarding secondary school allocations: I am thinking that we are not going to be allocated any of the 3 schools we put on the list on the first round; however I believe we will get on the waiting list for our first choice. My questions are: will Southwark give us any other school we didn't put on the list? And will my daughter be put on the waiting list for all the schools we put? Can we keep her on all the waiting lists?

Harris Primary v Dulwich Village Infants - Reception

Thanks You can call the school and they will give you the distance. I believe it has got bigger, probably due to having 3 new primary schools in the area which go all the way from Reception to year 6 (Judith Kerr, The Bellham, and Harrys) -
Got this one. So far so good. Don't know how I lived without it. It saves so much time https://ao.com/product/hr762701-philips-daily-collection-food-processor-white-34750-70.aspx?&WT.z_PT=SDA&WT.z_AT=Food%20Processor&WT.z_BR=Philips&WT.z_FT=Free%20Standing&WT.z_PC=HR7627/01_WH&WT.srch=1&WT.z_MT=Price%20Comparison&WT.z_RTM=Reevoo&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIt6LXlbLn2AIViLvtCh04dwRUEAQYASABEgIsv_D_BwE

Harris Primary v Dulwich Village Infants - Reception
Sol replied to TheCat's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I have had 2 children at DVIS. It is a great school: communications, teaching, SEN support and response to parents queries is excellent. It is a nurturing school that really cares for each child. The school is always improving and takes into account parents views and opinions. My children have been very happy and well supported there. I don't have any experience of Harris but have read good things about it. -
ok. Thank you

Tried it once but found it very expensive

Hi Can anybody recommend a good orthodontist in Dulwich or nearby for a child. I am looking for treatment of a cross bite. Thank you

Music at Kingsdale is outstanding but Sydenham School will provide all she likes: music, acting, science and tech; it also has triple science at GCSE; not sure about Kingsdale GCSES subjects. Does she prefer single sex or coed? What's the traveling times? Kingsdale has small clases and apparently settings for all subjects from what I heard

Thank you

Would you mind posting the link? I looked at the compare school website and I thought they both look good
-
Thank you. That may be the reason they are not keen on showing people around; but still find it strange as all other schools do it.
-
Thank you; they didn't want to give me the dates and I couldn't see it on the website. The fair is a good idea but also want to see the school on a normal day. Is the school so popular that they don't want to give the open days?
-
Hi Has anybody got experience of this school. It is one of our closest schools but we have been unable to see it. Every time I call they say they don't have any open days available/ they are fully booked and to call back in a month. Thank you

Advice please: Dulwich Dolphins or DCSC
Sol replied to birnehelene's topic in The Family Room Discussion
As far as I know Dolphins does competitions and Tiger Sharks doesn't. Dolphins training can be quite intense when progressing up to 3 or 4 times per week. My daughter tried it but I didn't want to commit to One sport plus the driving around to training lessons and competitions put me off. It depends of what you want for your child -
Catchment Area for Dulwich Village Infants
Sol replied to housedad's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thank you Etta. I did call the Hamlet and this year it went to 790 meters for up to September offers. The previous years are on their website and it has gone up to 1000 meters. I know there are lots of factor involved including birth rate in the area each year. -

Thank you. Will ask my sister to take that into account as that's the risk she woild take if she is offered a place next year and accept it; however I would have expected that most children will be settle in other schools in year 2 and won't want to move for year 3 and most of then places will be for kids from the infant anyway; this doesn't seem to be the case though. I guess there schools like the villa and Herne Hill that only go until year 2 and don't get into the private ones and kids moving from other local schools for year 3 for whatever reason. It is quite tricky to predict what will happen in 3 years. -

Thank you. They gave me the distances for first offers but not up to September offers. The people I know got places in 2015 and 2016 and they are more than 1200 meters away; certainly gone up compared to a few years ago; perhaps due to 2 new primaries in the area. The strange thing is that the Hamlet catchment this year was less than 800 meters so where do this other kids who joined in year 3 came from and the others who didn't get a place went to. Mystery! I get my sister to put it as first option and see what happens. -
Can anybody recommend ballroom dance classes for children in Dulwich or nearby. I found Kerry on dancing but it is a bit far; would like something more local. Thank you

Catchment Area for Dulwich Village Infants
Sol replied to housedad's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thank you very much. It seems to have gone Up compared to a few years ago. This goes to show there are many good primaries in the area nowadays. Does anybody know what was it in 2015 and 2016? -

Has anybody got update figures for the DVIS for the last 3 years. I have met 3 people who live more than a mileage away and told me they got places based on distance not foundation places over the summer holidays; they are in different years now. I want to know if my niece has a chance on getting a place there. I understand it varies every years but I thought it never goes more than 800 meters. -
I was going to suggest also Sydenham school

Thanks. I enrolled my daughter in the spontaneous productions
