  6. I went to the meeting at Christ Church on Monday 17 July for the so called 'consultation' about the introduction of a CPZ area for Dulwich Hill. It was a complete whitewash because the Council has already decided to introduce it. Most people in the meeting were totally opposed to the idea. It is yet another attack on people in a cost of living crisis. It is another way for the Council to raise money. We need to organise our opposition across the borough. Where is the mandate for this decision? I thought the Council/politicians are voted in to work on our behalf, not just impose their will. How will those on a state pension be able to afford the £240 pa to park their car? The Councillor who led the meeting made a gob stopping comment when he said that Dulwich Hill residents were not exactly poor, a sweeping comment if ever there was one. We need a borough wide campaign otherwise they will pick us off ward by ward. Is there a cross borough petition to oppose these CPZ's? We need one urgently.
  7. Very pleased with top signal service, came out very quickly to a block of flats and fixed the communal dish. Very polite and helpful. Highly recommended.
  8. I see William Rose is shut until Tuesday 22 December 'due to staff shortages' I wonder if this is due to Covid. I am not happy that they allow 3 people into the shop at a time in such a small squeezed space. Also I rarely see the shop assistants themselves wearing masks. I thought all shop assistants now had to wear masks?
  9. Does anyone know how I get a new brown bin as mine is broken. Thanks.
  10. I have used the spin doctor three times and I would thoroughly recommend him.
  11. I have a son at Harris boys and he has been very happy there. It is a safe and secure school and there are many talented and hard working members of staff. There has been quite a high turnover of staff, but I do not have too much of a problem with that provided the new teachers are dedicated and go the extra mile. The new Head is definitely moving the school in the right direction. He has worked on the basics ie establishing a working environment where teachers can teach and students can learn. He is now working on the curriculum to ensure that boys of all abilities can reach their potential.
  12. EDMummy - We asked ourselves similar questions back in September prior to visiting Harris Boys ED and other local secondary schools with our Y6 child. We put in a request to the school to observe a number of top set classes in the core subjects. We were impressed with the quality of teaching and learning taking place at Harris Boys ED and felt that it was far superior to much of what we had observed at the more 'popular' local schools. Like BB100 we felt the Ofsted Report was an accurate reflection of what we saw. We also embraced the ethos of achievement for all students and felt fortunate that we could protect our child from the lottery or full and half-scholarship debacle. We put Harris Boys ED at the top of our preference list. Our child was delighted to be offered a place there last Thursday; an outstanding school just 10 minutes walk away. He is joining along with a small cohort of charming, bright and motivated primary school friends. I'm sure that this September he'll have the opportunity to meet many more.

    Rocca

Very disappointed with Rocca, pizza's were soggy, perhaps this is not surprising given that they are precooked somewhere else and then the toppings just added and heated up in the albeit wood fired oven. Shame that they have cut corners like this, cant imagine the Italians putting up with such second rate pizzas so why should we. Pizzas in Italy are thin and crispy, not wet and soggy. They need to use proper pizza dough made on the premises, not spelt flour mass produced in a factory unit in Vauxhall then shipped over to the restaurant. Reminds me of that other food imposter/poseur Gordon Ramsey and his so called gastro pub food being mass produced in a warehouse somewhere in South Wales. Why do we still have to pay through the nose for sub standard food, I am surprised people still put up with it.
