Guitar lessons for 7 year old
fabian's ma replied to fabian's ma's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Brilliant, thank you! Sure the motorbike would also be a hit in our house :) -
My son has requested guitar lessons! Can anyone recommend someone local (and patient!) Many thanks.

Martial Arts class for kids - Saturday mornings?
fabian's ma replied to fabian's ma's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks very much! I think that's the one. -
I'd be really interested to hear from parents of children who attend Edmund Waller. Would you recommend it? Trying to finalise the school applications before next week! Many thanks

Booster seats (as used in restaurants)
fabian's ma replied to fabian's ma's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks everyone; just checked on eBay and that seems to be the one. Expensive though! I'll see if I can get one secondhand. -
Does anyone happen to know where you can buy the booster seats that are often used in restaurants such as Pizza Express? I'm thinking of the ones with black seats and metal arms / hooks which just hook on to the back of the chair? Many thanks.

We lost a small brown cuddly walrus toy at lunchtime today -- somewhere between the Horniman museum and Dulwich Library. Please let me know if you've seen it / picked it up? I have one very bereft little boy here. Thanks!

Hi there, My son is nearly three but has recently requested that I leave the light on when he goes to sleep. His bedside lamp is quite bright so I was wondering whether some kind of night light might be the way forward. However, it does need to give off a significant amount of light to be effective and the ones I've seen so far seem marketed at babies and only give off a very soft glow. Does anyone have any ideas or a particular product to recommend? Many thanks in advance.

Hi there, My two year old son had chicken pox recently (first spots appeared about four weeks ago) and although most spots have now faded he has been left with several angry looking red pock marks on his tummy (I'm guessing he must have scratched these in his sleep). Can anyone recommend a good cream or salve which may aid healing and minimise scarring? I realise they're likely to scar to some degree but would like to minimise this if at all possible. Many thanks.

That's how I understand it - yes. You start the September before you're 5. So our kids will be amongst the oldest in the year - whereas others with March birthdays for example would start at the same time but only be 4 and a half. I think!

I think they go the September that they are 'rising 5' - but I am / was confused, hence my intitial question! Fingers crossed.

Thanks very much!

Hello, I'd be grateful for some advice. Could someone outline briefly the current timetable for school applications? My son is almost two and as he has a November birthday I understand that he will be starting school when he's almost five in September 2015. When would I need to apply for a school place? September 2014? Many thanks in advance and sorry if this repeats previous strands.

Teaching a 3 year old to read
fabian's ma replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'd also be interested in hearing top tips for this? My son isn't quite two but he loves books; chats away constantly and is getting really good with his colours and numbers and shapes - so I thought I should at least know the basics when the time comes. And yes, I was a swot too!! -
Buggy board for Bugaboo Bee +
fabian's ma replied to fabian's ma's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks - I wasn't sure whether they were universal. -
Thanks very much!

Does anyone else have any advice on this? Thanks in advance.

Can anyone recommend a buggy board to fit on to a bugaboo bee (new model?) My 22 month old is loath to go in the buggy these days but he tires easily when walking and wants me to carry him all the time - which is back breaking! I thought a buggy board might be a good compromise. Thanks.

After nearly two years I've pretty much had enough of lugging about my Bugaboo Bee! Does anyone have any recommendations for a cheap, lightweight pushchair / and or have one to sell? Many thanks.

I'm curious about this whole school nursery thing. My son is currently in full time childcare at a community (fee paying) nursery (he's 21 months). I understand that from 3 they have 15 hours free per week and that the nursery he's at will offer this and deduct it from his monthly fees. Do school nurseries offer full time places (for free) from 3 years old - or do they only offer the 15 hours a week? A completely free full time place would seem too good to be true - but I have heard of people being offered this in some cases (albeit when they have a sibling at the same school). Sorry if this repeats questions on previous threads.
