Clever Ko, you are a master sleuth! Chuff, your road is really pretty. Don't worry, I am sure that the grumpy neighbours will soon come round and start being friendly, silly old Victor Meldrews that they are! Just smile, give them a cheery wave and park away to your hearts content. spymum (Blog: Posh Mum)

Keef, I'm liking the idea of mobile phone music wars! I'm going to download all the Gun & Roses I can find! And how about some Metallica or (shudder) Nickleback! Yeah! (starts headbanging enthusuastically!) nero, yuccas and some palms are really naff but some palms are nice - Cycas revoluta (Sago palm) is nice! I wonder what palms they've planted? spymum (Blog: Posh Mum)

Poor Chuff! This neighbour is out of order - it does seem mean that you are new to the neighbourhood and this is all she can come up with by way of welcome! Harrumph! Please, please park where-ever you can find a spot. Even if someone has had their kerb 'cantilevered' down for parking on their 'garden' you are still entitled to park by law to park across that space. In an ideal world friendly neighbours help each other out, (knowing who is disabled or has three kids), and they try to leave spaces (if possible) - often it is not. And these guys are not being friendly at all - shame on them! Please continue to live your life without them 'intimidating' you. Honestly! This woman is being very silly. spymum (Blog: Posh Mum)

The dreaded fate of Claphamisation can be defined as follows: Where snooty, blonde, pony-tailed 32 year old lasses in Crew rugby shirts, capri pants and Todds loafers whizz out of a series of estate agents (where they have been sourcing ?900,000 houses) and crash their Bugaboo prams (plus offspring) heedlessly into your legs with a fetching sneer and shove off (sans apology). And that, my friends, is Claphamisation. Is this really what we want!!? ('Yes!!' shout all the EDForum blokes in a loud chorus.) spymum (Blog: Posh Mum)

Thanks MadWorld74 - No, I'm not cool, I'm a geek (and a mum!). And I am ashamed to say that I don't know Fopps (all vestiges of cool evaporate like so much air from a balloon!). :'( I used to hang around Chinatown and Soho with my much cooler friends (mostly in the weirdy book section of Virgin, and in Forbidden Planet looking at expensive models of the Alien monster - how uncool is that?!) A cool record shop with loads of rare groove vinyl would surely work on the cheaper part of LL! Just 'girl' it up a bit with some books (or some pants!) and I'm there! And Ant, I was thinking of swinging by briefly on Friday (with my collection money) - if I drink enough beer I might forget how long ago it was! spymum (Blog: Posh Mum) -

OmiGod Sister Ray's! There's a blast from the past; I haven't been there in years! (Actually, now that I think about it, the number of years is a tad depressing.) spymum (Blog: Posh Mum) -

Pandaboy, I am laughing like a drain at the phrase 'the anti-christ's tea room'! Mind if I use that some time? And MadWorld 74 is right - happy musical pants is clearly what we need. An independent music store, selling music, guitars, easy-to-play tabs plus a well stocked pants section! - plain/simple and complicated/fancy. We should club together and put this idea to the Dragons Den! spymum (Blog: Posh Mum) -

My husband would love a guitar shop/independent music shop - that's a really good idea! spymum (Blog: Posh Mum) -

Mark, who me?! ;-) Mmmm; No! (looks around nervously for the Administrator). I don't want a Starbucks on Lordship Lane - I want it back in Sainsburys! I miss it so! spymum (Blog: Posh Mum -

Tough one, Marauder. I've been scratching my head and I can't think of any ethical clothes manufacturers/designers (except for Katherine Hamnett 100 years ago with her '98% don't want Pershing'). Clothing isn't a very ethical industry, clearly! Oh well! At least frilly knick-knacks aren't 'dreary'! spymum (Blog: Posh Mum) -
Hmm; I'm not sure about the slaying newcomers bit ;-) but I think we should start a group called 'Hot Fuzz' anyway. I'll sing backing vocals in a silver sequined dress!

Ooh, ooh, oooh! I have just finished reading Wednesday's Times (yes, I'm a bit behind on my media-surfing! It's the school holidays, that's my excuse.) AND there is an article by Anne Ashworth in T2 about White Stuff (sub titled 'Bankers seem tempted by White Stuff but AA queries its investment'). I quote:- "The dreariness ran counter not only to the chain's vision of itself, but also to the high opinion that some friends have of its offerings; one woman can barely wait for the June opening of the branch in East Dulwich, South London; she thinks White Stuff is ideal for thirtysomething mothers who work from home." Wow! Spot on! Dreary, thirty-something, bankers - Excellent analysis. IMHO White Stuff = Fat Face = Jack Wills = Crew Clothing. They all make non-threatening pastel hoodies for nice people! Which is lovely, but we can just order over the internet! Instead of a (boring?) White Stuff, I'd like to have ......a branch of Agent Provacateur! Much more fun for everyone I think! spymum (Blog: Posh Mum)
