Pro Cuts Rally Today 14/05
thomastillingthe3rd replied to thomastillingthe3rd's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
"what do we want......" Britain's bosses are pocketing an increasing portion of the nation's income, according to a report from the High Pay Commission to be published tomorrow. As the majority of people in the country face the largest drop in household income for three decades, a tiny minority at the top are awarding themselves a growing slice of the UK's wealth. The top one thousandth of the British working population currently receives 5 per cent of the country's earnings, a ratio equivalent to that in the 1940s, the report says. If these trends continue, income for the highest paid will account for 14 per cent of the country's total by 2030 ? the same proportion as in 1900. The independent commission was set up in November to scrutinise the rising pay of those at the top. Its first report concludes that during the decade Labour was in power, income at the top grew by 64.2 per cent, while that of an average earner increased by 7.2 per cent over the same period. "when do we want it ......now " "Management cuts increase our profitability, give them separate pay deals, and screw the rest of the population......" come on boys and girls of the 'right n liberal wings' get those banners up up up. THIS MARCH WAS ORGANISED BY SHAREHOLDERS AGAINST REDUCED DIVIDENDS -
For those mathematically challenged above, and i suspect retired or unemployed or in L's case a corporate HR mouthtrap the following The actual total is close to around 8% over 2 years, as i said the previous past 2 years nothing, however as the majority of the country got nothing (if you were employed you probably would know that) then you could see it as 2% year on year. Even if inflation was running at 8%, if you are not a public sector worker and are without significant union backing , you would not have had a hope of securing that, let alone potentially 4% for the next 2years. As for writing styles generally the truth works for me, and as L, u clearly have been on here soooo long, you feel that you have the authority to type drivel; in the case of your TUPE knowledge that is an understatement. I would worry that anyone reading your advice on TUPE would not realise that they are being lectured by a dangerous halfwit at best. So for me , I is NOt Engaging Wit u anymore , Clearly old ED DHSS as u are. H - was not baiting James or whoever he is, just asking his opinion / theory on points 2 n 3 , rushing u see. As for cuts not sure where you get the pro from , just pointing out what a close friend told me , He is in charge of a live news desk told me what came from above regarding the pointless rally. Its odd that u think this conspiracy? On this very forum MM states in print that 35000 turned out for the march for the alternative, it was actually close to HALF A MILLION. Its just a ridiculous statement for MM to make, you have to ask yourself why? Also I rarely like to entertain anyone with no integrity so i can see where you are coming from. However i note the number of posts you have made and suspect that you may have had quite a few 'un-integrals' on here in the past. Hopefully though not all your posts were like your AV position, which i must say seemed a bit in denial to be honest. Anyway must run, I hear the church bells a ringing x

For all those half educated muck spreader's out there.... When BASSA's membership was over 11000, there were around 14000 crew. This has since been reduced by the 2000 cabin crew who took voluntary severance. Those who took severance were all senior crew and the majority of them were members of BASSA. Although there have been resignations since the industrial dispute began, there are still people joining and re-joining BASSA today. There are many people who spend much of their time bad mouthing the union and indeed many who did not take part in the industrial action. Neither of these things has stopped them from continuing to come to BASSA for help when they find themselves off sick or the subject of disciplinary action. No group of people, be they management or union, will always make the right decision at the right time. There will always be those who wish for confrontation and those who will always seek compromise. What is important in the case of BASSA is that, overall, they have always worked to secure the best terms and conditions for their members. as for the rest of it, they have secured an average of 2%+ for every year , 2years back dated and 2 years going forward. this could also rise. Most people i know have been on a pay freeze for the last 2years, and have no idea about the next 2years. Obviously not those corporate mouthpiece's wallowing in their comfort zone's though, maybe that's why loz thinks 8% + spread across 4years is shoddy. enjoy dear x

Wow i think some of our Forum members must be down there, the silent majority apparently..... 350 people have turned up, yes thats 350. Even better I am being told that the BBC news are being pressured not to film the rally, and to show pictures only on the local BBC London news later. It has been suggested to the Sky News editors that they ignore the story entirely. maybe the numbers will swell later !!!! ????

hey James could you explain the 3 reasons for avoiding a general election, bit more detail about the cons and libs reasons? i am not quite getting them . Thanks
-
A big promotion !!! u don't half make things up.....he said "travel perks would be re-instated over his dead body" ....the shareholders made the call, and Willies dead body got shifted out. As for the rest of it There will also be a pay increase totaling 7.5 percent over two years?4 percent this year, backdated, and 3.5 percent next year.....so backdated cancels out the pay freeze. Management has also agreed that there will be no unilateral imposition of any new terms and conditions without full negotiations with the union. In cases like this you have to really look at the whole deal, understand the details, yes it may not be perfect but its a good deal for both sides. Both sides are in a much better position than were they could have been. Change is coming but its how that change is managed and how it impacts of the people working for the company. as for reasonable debate, are you seriously asking us to discuss the line about ....."spending 30% above your income? " now that belongs in the lounge son, its a red top catch all with no real meaning or depth. Anyway are the liberal democrats broken, well they are looking very light in leadership. One is now pretty much reviled by by the nation, the other is passing of speeding tickets on his mates, the nations favourite has been nailed by the right wing press and is being re-modeled as the Tony Benn of the party, Simon Hughes is .....well nowhere to be seen. Not looking good.

2009 Oct 6: BA announces 1,700 cabin crew job cuts and pay freeze Never happened What did happen was Walsh wanted to break the union, and then get on with some really deep cutting, he failed. The offers at the beginning were never offers just antagonisms i reckon.
-
mmmm the Metro !! Clearly the cabin crew look really happy and willie walsh is no more. next
-
as for BA staff will get a 7.5% payrise over 2years top up payments for low salary workers all travel benifits re-instated (backdated) fmaily and friends still get -10% on travel bbc not me. Considering what BA wanted to do , their union seems to have done pretty well for them from what i am reading. I know the BBC is not the EDF news machine, but i will take my chances that they are closer to the truth.

loz/?? You can only play what?s in front of you , but as neither of you are making much sense i'm going to give you your bat back, its getting fairly dull. MM - that legislation is the 2006/7 TUPE amendment changes that came in under the last Labour Administration, and yes you are right they did offer protection by closing some loopholes exploited by business. However I was talking about new legislation in the pipeline that is going to rip all that up and more, so go find yourself a union. As for generalised statements about unions I can only talk about experiences of the 'here and now'. Recently my partner had his company propose a reduction in redundancy consultation from 3months to 4 weeks. They held out and won, the company then announced 40 redundancies and each of those people benefited from an extra 2months wages. If the company had its way they would have been out with 1months consultation. Basically the extra 2months, paid for most people's subscriptions going back years and provided a better financial cushion. I know lots of lots of friends who are currently benefiting from being part of an organised collective, very de-rigour actually right now. Thanks for the covering fire strafer!
-
???? when it comes to insults "Hypocrites, visionless, elitist and very unrepresentative" their your words. Labelling the unions in the negative as you did is itself tedious and a smear, peddled by the right wing press which makes it worse thats all. And lets be honest Big Brother is one of the highest rating programmes of the last 10years so where is the insult Clegg looked good in the debate, he pickedup lost of votes (mori not me) he got to sit around the table next to George and David
-
LOZ why would make statments about TUPE when you clearly have a limited understanding. Consultation is justthat consulation on every issue, most salaries are contractual and by not transferring you are not made redundant you actually effectively resign on the grounds that the transfer is unfair and have totry your luck in a tribunal, which is generally stacked against you. as for length of service that may not be contractual if you look at your re-publushed staff hand book they printed a year before they proposed you TUPE ! so less whoopeeee and mor PAAAAAAAAAARP ! as for Eton in capitals those boys have no class except their own, dont let your imagination run away with itself.
-
?Seems strange for Cameron to rip up a piece of Thatcher legislation?..... it does not and here is why. Currently TUPE legislation affords protection. Cameron / Osborne want to remove these protections so as not to 'lumber' the new employer, with historical accrued Redundancy, the piffling problem of previously agreed salaries, pension rights, and basically too demolish the consultation period. The new employer can currently claim in an employment tribunal that ?I did not know they got paid extra for, nights, travel, weekends etc" and win. Currently consultation allows for staff to make sure the new employer is made aware of exactly what all the 'current working conditions are".....so it generally stops the new employer making wholesale changes and therefore savings/profit at the staffs expense. Osborne / Cameron and big business want those rights ended. They basically want all those transferring staff to effectively be dictated to on what their new conditions, contracts and payments will be going forward. Thatcher was only iron these idiots are ETON boys all the way, going further than even she would have dared. as for ???????, the facts you make are not facts so can't be rubbished, and I was merely saying that the 'unions' as you like to call them are generally now made up of ordinary workers, lots are younger and progressive but still fighting for employment rights for everyone.... Not murdochs great slavering red eyed beast of doom! Fighting against TUPE change to ensure that accrued wealth that we have earnt through years of working, is not then spun into profit when everyone is bloody outsourced. We are now facing 'investment funds' funding new companies to 'mirror companies' that they already own and fighting for the same business. Why ?.....so they can in source workers from their old companies on worse conditions and make even greater profit...........its a carousel you see and you are paying to keep it going......get it yet? Get with it ???? and stop making redtop like statements......... if you want a proper debate they dont help.

What rubbish...."the liberals have seen the books so they know..." yes like they are going to just disagree! Lets be real Nick Clegg got the Big Brother vote, and know we see him for who he really is. Last night on TV as he and Cameron toured a plant somewhere in the UK, he took the opportunity to make bitchy comments towards Cameron, it was truly cringe worthy. They have done nothing to water down any of the Tory policies, it?s a myth. As for banging Labour for all the "they have bankrupted us rubbish" its tosh. What Brown did was wrap you all up and pretty much ring fence you in a way that the Tories can not get at you without completely collapsing the economy, interest at 0%, house prices fairly consistent but yes market pretty stagnant. Lordship lane is still bustling, restaurants not collapsing, nothing whatsoever like the 80's. As for comparisons with other Euro economies, there is not much of a comparison really; completely different economies. Clegg is making the liberal Democrats look decidedly insidious in their quest for power. And no Clegg did not get them elected, people turned away from Labour and many steered clear of the Conservatives. What Clegg has actually managed to do is begin to make the Tories electable again. So if you voted labour in the 80's more fool you, they were not a party ready to govern, outdated policies. As for the 'unions' they are one of the main bodies fighting for peoples working conditions, teachers, Police, health workers. You just sing the mantra of the Murdoch press without any real consideration for what you are actually saying, it?s damaging. When Osborne tears up the TUPE legislation those who come after us and maybe you yourself will find yourself sold on to a company that is legally within its right to tell you that it wants to reduce your salary by 20% and can legally do so, and that?s just for starters. Bloody murdoch press gets them all in the end.

ah so he is japanese asian maybe, its common for them to wear a sports jacket sandal combo. Also what news channel do you watch ? do you get an indian satellite channel , that truck news story must be pretty common, especially with their backwards rail system, trucks are a pretty common form of transport although i am not sure if they are internally fitted with seats or if the passengers stand inside them. Falling of a cliff though must be bloody shocking. We get the odd bus clipped by trees in London but droppping of a cliff when you are just commuting is bloody shocking indeed.
-
yes yes , but does he wear shoes ?
-
In his., forties,No;one haircut, jeans and sports jacket and jeans, glasses and asian looking was he wearing any shoes ?
-
Nope James not in the same league, if it does not getted stopped now, and there are considerable forces rained against him, it will be broken up. Cameron is not impressed by either of them funnily enough.
-
Sadly they have had it, Cameron even threw Clegg a bone by letting him trumpet his "fight to save the NHS" ....sadly the Conservatives had A. Realised the plans needed re-visiting but did not want to be accused of a forestry sell off type u turn. B. They suddenly got very fearful that the Liberals would get smashed and the coalition would collapse C. When the polls came in they were re-thinking their 'snap election' strategy when their vote held up and Labour made little ground. The conservatives figured that to tackle the NHS now may risk that option. Either way the pygmy political muppet that is the conservative foil, 'Nick Clegg' swallowed the bait hook line and sinker. They are in deep deep trouble.
-
......Rupert Murdoch? oh please give me a break....he'll be dead soon and they will break it all up and sell it in chunks, have no fear of that.
-
It is ironic indeed that Nick Clegg will share a platform this week with David Cameron on unemployment. I fear Nick Clegg is completely blind to the fact that he is the reason why 700+ of his own party now find themselves politically unemployed. AV may well have a lovely Tuscan ring about it but the Britsh people have, for now, decisively spoken and that has to be acknowledged. My fear now is that despite Nick Cleggs past statements about 'Gordon Brown being deaf to his own unpopularity' that Mr Clegg has fallen into the same trap , not able to accept that he has become 'utterly toxic'. If the wider party does not move and move quick, then the damage to the party will get worse. To make the statement as he did yesterday that "we will listen but we have a job to do" , is deluded to say the least. The country delivered a verdict yesterday on AV and to the direction that Nick Clegg has taken the Liberal Party. Today he steps out and issues a rallying for the NHS, the problem is it was only a few months ago that he signed the NHS white paper for changes to the NHS and persuaded his MP's to support reforms in a commons vote. Instead of presenting the the party as a party who can govern and are electable, Nick Clegg has presented you as a anything other than a party with decisive conviction and clear direction. That is exactly what the british people, rightly or wrongly, voted for in the AV vote, a way of voting decisively and with clear conviction. Like it or not listen or prepare for further political unemployment.

Hear that the Sun ran the McCann interview on the Front Cover today to deflect what was an expected Conservative bloody nose in the elections the other day.
