Haaahaa that's hilarious 😂.. When I knocked and spoke with him he was a lot frailer than I expected and had most teeth missing and thought oh gosh.. And then did cross my mind maybe maybe but thought that's really bad I thought that. But yes in late 70s or looked that way possible early 70s.. Someone mentioned air defusers I'm not familiar with them so will Google. I wonder if they really work though.. -
Hi there.. I've had my offer accepted on a little flat in one bed Victorian conversion.. And apart from needing lot of updating old kitchen original fitting 40 years etc etc I thought I was very lucky to find it.. However I viewed now 4 times two of which I smelt smoke. Flat is empty was tenanted.after a battle to get agent to forward emails on etc.. After I said if not then ask if I can have owners details finally after my solicitor got involved the agent sent my email queries. Its confirmed neighbour downstairs smokes and it's why owner had underfloorboards insulation 39 years ago.. But only in lounge and bedroom because pipework etc etc. I have an autoimmune disease and my illness fksred up with any toxins very quickly.. So I'm really worried I can't buy the flat anymore although I love it and been looking 8 months and mine completes next week. Has anyone had experience of this and found other types of floor insulation helped.. Or other ideas. The neighbour lived there 40 years I had chat with him but of course he won't just give up smoking its his home and I don't want to cause upset he smokes at least 30 a day he told me. Any ideas please.. I'm so so sad and spent so much time planning rest of the place over last three weeks and due survey on Tuesday..

Yes that's what I thought I hate shiny paint but I think all bathroom paints are shiny!? The b and q one I think is
-
Thanks kidkruger.. It looks OK the lined paper particularly good in bathroom.. Definitely no paint job done for years.. Place has been kept immaculate and well looked after. Its just very old skool. So limed paper on ceiling is quite normal? The paint everywhere is shiny paint so hope it looks better with matt paint
-
I viewed flat again and other than one room with the woodchip it's lined plain paper on walls and ceiling.. I guess this is much easier to just paint over no need to take it off really!? But such a shame even on the ceiling I guess its because the walls ceilings are not good.. Just hope doesn't all start coming off. Maybe better I just remove it all.. Any thoughts on lined paper and painting over it.. Its even in the bathroom surprised no signs of mold on it..

KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yeah took 5 days to strip my ground floor hall > (layers of paper/paint/other weird stuff), which > was under woodchip - good point Sue. Hmm I think I will try to find someone who wants the work as I don't have much patience and whole flat need redoing so lots to do all in all.. I will do lots myself but that bit really doesn't appeal

Thanks sue this is what I'm thinking May happen but in some rooms it's just spoiling the look and feel of the place but I was thinking might try to find someone to take in tjr job and then i do the nice bit painting it myself!! Shame wasn't year ago I would ask for details of the paint stripper :) > > Even with a steamer, it was an effing nightmare > and took days. > > In the end I paid someone to finish it. > > All the walls had to be replastered. > > Glad I did it now, though 🤣

diable rouge Wrote: -------------------------------------------------------hi diable have you used the b and q colour matching they use their own valsper paint as a base and said one is with primer and one is without.. Didn't realise any paint came with primer.. Just wondered if you have used their paint and its worked out well.. Have used that service before.. But I could physically take in the piece to colour match but with farrow and ball it's just on my phone.. Can they match from that.. I think I need buy sample farrow and ball.. Paint piece of card and take I'm? Do you think it works out cheaper.. Do you suggest the thick brush as roller will more likely pull paint off of the wall? .

diable rouge Wrote: -------------------------------------------------------thanks diable appreciated. Waa thinking and trying that re farrow and ball but no luck finding it yet in another paint or do you mean actually have that colour made up..
