  1. Highly recommend Arran too - came the next day to clear up our old shed plus random rubbish. Echo the above posters - he was very efficient and pleasant to deal with. Would definitely use him again.
  2. Surely Jenny Harries was talking about vulnerable children whose parents were hospitalised because of Corona? Cummings could drive up and down the width of England several times - clearly not the indication of a man on his deathbed. seenbeen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I looked into this and found the youtube video > from 24th March > At about 8:25 the ITV news reporter asks the EXACT > question about a small child. 3. Loved John Inge's (Bishop of Worcester) comment yesterday - 'The PM's raisable defence of Cummings is an insult to all those who have made such sacrifices to ensure the safety of others'. Sums it up really.
  4. Just wondering... lots of our neighbours are having friends and family over, one set of neighbours is packing their kids off to grandparents for a few days and the parks are heaving. Don't blame anyone for being fed up with it all... but can't help but think they're relying on the rest of us to keep to the rules to stop a second-wave. (Or I am just being a sucker - if Dominic Cummings can do, why can't we all? Arggh)
  5. On tomorrow, 19th July Aneto Cafe 9.30-11.30 Join us in stitching for the environment!
  6. We're right under it too... and think it's quite localised even in East Dulwich. If you're under the planes they are awful: so low that you can read which airline it is and literally no break from the noise. But even a couple of roads away it's not so bad. People on this thread who don't think it's that bad are probably in those lucky streets. They are more then welcome to come into my back garden and try and have a conversation over the constant rumble! I've signed and thanks for the initiative!
  7. Hi Gather, looking forward to your opening. Could you look at affordability too? Just refilled my shower gel at another local shop (my partner refuses to use soap!?) and 385mls cost ?5.80 which was a bit steep. Sustainability should be for everyone! Many thanks.
  8. On this Friday, 21st June Aneto Cafe 9.30-11.30 Join us in stitching for the environment!
  9. Craftivist group on this Friday. 9.30-11.30, Friday 7th June, Aneto Cafe. Please join us in stitching for the environment! All resources provided!
  10. This Friday 17th June, 9.30-11.30 at Aneto's Cafe. Please join us!
  11. On tomorrow! 9.30-11.30, Friday 3rd May, Aneto's Cafe, join us in stitching for the environment! All resources provided.
  12. Join us for some lovely stitching tomorrow, 9.30-11.30, Aneto's Cafe. Stitch for the environment ... and get at break from Easter holiday madness!
  13. Come and join this lovely group of stitchers at the back of Aneto's cafe. Most Friday's and maybe some Saturday's if that's easier for people. Stitch for the environment!
  14. Tomorrow morning... if anyone's around it would be lovely to have some company while stitching! ("Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead)
  15. I used wet wipes for about 6 years before realising that most were made out of plastic (i.e. polyester!) and will take 200 years to biodegrade. Most end up in London?s landfills (which will be full by 2026) and 1 in 3 gets flushed down the toilet ending up in our rivers and beaches? or forming 93% of London?s fatbergs. Please join us in stitching messages into baby-wipes and sending them to our MP?s and supermarkets asking for action on plastic wipes. All resources and toys for any children (but just be aware there will be needles and scissors around!) will be provided. All welcome! You don?t need to know how to stitch, and the more hand-made the message the better! I can teach you some stitches and it?s really easy. All you need is a willingness to stitch messages for the environment. Please join us! Friday's 9.30 ? 11.30 at Aneto Caf? (58-60 East Dulwich Road, SE22 9AX) at the back. #plasticfreewipes *We're using pre-consumer waste wipes, off cuts from a wipes factory which were going to be thrown away. Plus they didn't have any moisture on them, so it's a firmer surface. No actual wipes were purchased in this project!
  16. For the sake of the environment, we need to change our lifestyles, which might mean some personal inconvenience and impact on the local shops. Pollution is a massive issue and anything we can do to stop people using their cars must be a good thing.
  17. Thank you for sharing, it's a worrying development. I've completed the questionnaire, basically just repeating that we need respite from the noise!
  18. Thanks Carebear, you are definitely right about the wording, unfortunately I can't change it now, but advice noted for the next one. And we used babywipes too ... but it's scary to think that every single one will still be around for the next 100 years.
  19. Dear lovely members of the East Dulwich Forum, would you mind spending a minute completing this survey? I'm studying for an MA in Textiles and am investigating the wipes industry. It's just 10 questions and would really help my research: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Y8J9LV8 Also, if anyone has any old, dry (or not dry!) wipes they no longer use, I would love to have them. If you're in SE22 I can come and collect them. They will be used to create new textiles. Many thanks in advance!
  20. We all know plane noise is bad elsewhere. I would never move to East Sheen / Barnes / Kew because of it. We moved to ED about 8 years ago, and plane noise has definitely got worse since then. A Hacan study recently proved that there was an 'Increased concentration of flights has taken place in recent years. More than ever, flights are being guided through ?concentrated corridors? which means particular communities are especially badly hit.' http://hacan.org.uk/category/latest-news/ Anyhow, this thread is about roads in SE22 that are quieter then others. They do exist!
  21. Anyone in SE22 who thinks plane noise is just restricted to Camberwell probably lives on one of those roads I'd like to move to! Friends who live on Goodrich aren't really that impacted, and Woodwarde Road was blissfully quiet when we were there last Monday. So I think it is really localised.
  22. Sorry to start another plane thread but here goes... We live on Pellatt Road, the Landcroft Road side, and the planes are a constant roar at the moment. We're right underneath this 'road' for planes. Was talking to someone who lives on Woodwarde Road who was puzzled at my plane hatred as they don't have any over them. Do you live on such a quiet, lovely road? (And are there any houses for sale?!)
  23. http://hacan.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Corridors-of-Concentration-Report.pdf Interesting reading on page 8 about Se22, planes have definitely got worse since 2011. https://www.heathrow.com/noise/what-you-can-do/make-a-complaint-about-noise
  24. Looks like heavy snow on our road... How are the buses and trains? Need to get to Charing Cross area by 10.
