  1. Living in ED since 1993, I don't need M&S or Waitrose, and I am happy with our local independent shops, co-op and Iceland. If by any chance they come to our area I just hope won't take the place(location) of any of our 2 stores. Like someone said Iceland make that balance in an area were all has changed since I first move in.
  2. I agree with the message from Northenpup Myself I have been living in East Dulwich rd for over 10years, now lives with my partner and our 2 months old daughter and I have no problem with the Youth offenders unit in my road..? There are plenty of units - social or otherwise already in the area, as well as hostels and housing (at least I know the one in east dulwich rd)? As member of a broad?community (NOT the east dulwich island) I accept the need for these institutions and the fact that sometimes will be in the back of my garden.. I was not expecting the lib dem councillor stands regarding the site, however nothing surprise me of lib dem these days. Time will pass and that fear will disappear as days will be the same...
  3. Petition for the convicted rioters to lose benefits? Don't count on me, that will bring more misery and crime...
  4. Latin carnival was cancelled however due to the increase of hispanos in the area (I am one of them) and people that like latin culture Southwark council that had organised 10 days events have included a Latin party in the park day on 18 September at camberwell green (original day was tomorrow but had been postpone due to riots) Tropical Garden Fiesta Produced by the Latin American Multicultural Group, wil bring Andean music, Afro-Latin rhythms, tales and legends reveal the unique character of the Amazon offering a fascinating glimpse into the colourful landscape of Latin America and showing its astounding diversity. Showcasing the cultural uniqueness of Mexico, Bolivia, Columbia, Ecuador and Peru through visual arts, crafts, wildlife, carnival, costume, music and of course dance we invite you to taste a little bit of Latin America. This event was planned for tomorrow but due to the events of this week has been postponed till 18 September in camberwell green
  5. I saw the 2 of the 8 youths not 6 at costcutter shop buying some cigarettes, in fact as I was leaving the shop one of the shout at me "how you doing!", once I look at them I realise they were the local guys I engaged in chat recently on a night bus. They are not the troublemakers Gem or anyone else, they just happen to wrongly meet your expectations of looters or rioters. I just hope the police ignore that called and did not bother that group of inocent local kids. Please let's move on to the subject of this thread... Any trouble AFFECTING East Dulwich?
  6. My partner and I have our first child (girl) a week ago on Wednesday 15 June, we left the hospital yesterday. Dads being allowed to stay over night was excellent, due some problems (my partner is diabetic) she spent at kings more than we expected, be allow to stay there to support her 24/7 has help me to understand what is the need of my child from the beginning and also what my partner is going through, share that experience with them has not price. Noisy ward at night? I cannot complaint about that myself but i guess some rooms can be with babies crying in the middle of the night, however my daughter also cried few times so I felt like we all were partners in crime, nothing to be worried. I did experience Noisy visitors and a patient on mobile phone at 4:00am telling her partner that has gave birth a boy for over an hour... However I would not spoil one of the best moments in the life of someone just because she woke me. This is just me...
