Charter School ED - SEN / ADHD experience
fleurie replied to schneidypops11@gmail's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You could probably spend money on an advocate to help to get your child an EHCP if they need one, but no one can change the culture of a school, so you need to find one that will work with you. I think all schools are so stretched at the moment, no one is really getting the support they need. My child is at Charter North with an EHCP and it has been really difficult. It does have quite a supportive culture though ime -
Hallo, I wondered if anyone had a child at STAC and was able to give any up to date insight. It is one of our choices for sixth form for our son. I was really impressed with the facilities, the teaching and the calm atmosphere, but am a bit concerned about how my atheist son will manage the religious elements and also whether it feels unnecessarily strict. I'd be very grateful for any thoughts.

Wow. That is absolutely brilliant news. Is there an official source?

Fairlawn Nursery - Proposed Change in Hours
fleurie replied to bkkmei's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Forummonkey I really don't think it was down to the nursery, I am pretty sure it was a decision by the head of the primary school -
Help re: catchment area for reception in 2015

In my experience everyone gets a school they are happy with in the end. I really wouldn't move, although I totally understand the anxiety. -
Fairlawn Nursery - Proposed Change in Hours
fleurie replied to bkkmei's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Sorry my post was meant to say I can see why it gets bad parent ratings, particularly for organisation. I have been so happy with the nursery but I am pretty amazed that the school treats parents with such a lack of respect -
Fairlawn Nursery - Proposed Change in Hours
fleurie replied to bkkmei's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I am going to write to Ms Ryans too. I thought very carefully about nurseries as not only does it have to be a good, caring nursery, which Fairlawn is, but I have to make it fit in with my older child (who I will no longer be able to drop off) and with mine and my partners working hours. I would have chosen another nursery altogether had these hours been proposed before we started. I have been really happy with the nursery provision but now I'm not beginning to see why Fairlawn gets such bad ratings on the parent view part of Ofsted. -
Haberdashers' East Dulwich - 751 families supporting
fleurie replied to James Barber's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I agree. Lots of parents in the area, myself included, will be relucatant to sign a petition for a school that seems likely to be used as evidence that local parents favour yet another Harris academy. I am extremely concerned about their status as monopoly provider of education in South London. -
When are bulge primary schools announced?

Forgot to say thank you! -
I am looking for a nursery for my three year old - does anyone have recent experience of Oaktree nursery that they would be willing to share? Or indeed other recommendations for nurseries in HOP/Forest Hill

Horniman School. Tell me your experiences please.
fleurie replied to Ruth Campbell's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My child is at Horniman and we couldn't be happier with it. This article gives a pretty good idea of what it is like http://www.guardian.co.uk/teacher-network/zurich-school-competition/horniman-primary-pedal-power-static-bikes. Its real strength, in my opinion is that it treats each child very much as an individual. It really is a very happy environment. If you want to find more Horniman parents I would suggest you post on the SE23 forum, I think there are more of them there. Are you thinking about next year when there is a bulge year? Or for entry this September? -
I think a facebook campaign is definitely a good start. My children are very little but I would absolutely love a decent mixed comprehensive.
