Missing Elderly Man from Nunhead
CBRoad replied to Peckhamgatecrasher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
How about contacting the refuse and recycling teams, they have people on the streets day and night. Local churches, Dial a Ride, bus garages.... I have asked the Catford forum to put it on their site to Praying for some good news soon -
Your favourite slow cooker recipes... please!
CBRoad replied to Pickle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Pickle, Looks like Slow Cookers are quite a thing in ED This thread popped up a few weeks ago http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,845260,page=1 -
Taxis for late night babysitters?
CBRoad replied to petswinprizes's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I find it quite shocking that they allow you to walk home alone without insisting they call and pay for a taxi. I?m sure that if you ask them they will be happy to provide the fare home. -
What happened to the possible extension of the 63 bus?

Country pub with good food - recommendations needed
CBRoad replied to redjam's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I met up with some friends here last week http://www.theploughinneynsford.co.uk/ Food and service were fantastic. Highly recommended. Not sure how you are planning to get there but the train goes from Peckham Rye to Eynsford and takes about half an hour ? so nothing to stop you having a cheeky bottle of plonk with your meal. If you are driving there is a large car park. The staff made a huge fuss over the children and provided booster seats. -
Bluesuperted ? you are like the slow cooker oracle. Can I do pork chops (with the bone on) in the same way?

I love my slow cooker. I use it at least one a week (more often in the winter) and make loads of stuff in it. Spag bol, chilli, curry, stews, chops, roast meats. I tend to chuck everything in the night before and stick it in the fridge and just drop the dish into the hotplate when I get up in the morning (I?m out the door at 6am so cant face chopping veg at that time of the morning). Nothing quite like the smug feeling of being at work knowing your dinner is cooking away ready for your return. Top tip is use less liquid that you would if you were cooking in an oven or a hob as the gentle heat of the slow cooker doesn?t evaporate the liquid as much.

It seems that it was less of a TLRA issue and more of a few individuals using the Association as a front. I bet the members of the TLRA know nothing of the case and would be horrified to know that they are inadvertently being used for such a (dare I say) nasty vendetta. I don?t have kids and don?t plan to in the near future but I can sympathise with the parents. I know that having to settle a little one into a new environment can be stressful all round. I would happily sign something to keep the Piplings going. We should be praising the lady who runs it for providing the community with such needed child care I would happily swap my awful neighbours for 24 + small children screaming or otherwise between the hours of 7.30am-6.30pm.

Man camping in Sydenham woods
CBRoad replied to jonny vantastic's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just found this on the Sydenham forum http://sydenham.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7236 Hopefully it?s incorrect info (I can?t find any other reports) but thought the people looking out for the homeless chap might want to know -
Is anyone else giving this a go? I had already decided to cut out drinking in January and after a cold over Christmas I am left with a hacking cough that?s not shifting and now I?m afraid it never will and I will end up a wheezing, grey skinned wrinkly old lady with a 20 a day habit. So, as of the 2nd of January I want to start my new life as a non smoker. Does anybody have any top tips? I have tried to give up a few times but never last more than a few days. I?ve never tried patches or any other nicotine replacements. I?ve heard good things about Alan Carrs book, has anybody given this a go? Any success stories people want to share? Anybody else giving up the evil weed?

Hoping the Mums and Dads of the EDF can help me. My nephew, who is 7 months old, will be starting swimming with his Dad after Christmas. I really want to get him everything he will need (my nephew, not his Dad) but I have no idea where to begin. I?ve had a look through some websites but I?m getting confused, especially with what he should be wearing, wetsuit, swim nappies (do they need a nappy underneath)? Also, are there any must haves that make life easier and any other advice would be welcome? Thanks everyone in advance
