  1. Does anyone know of a place to call for emergency childcare? We don't have places in a nursery yet and after being let down by a number of nannies I am just interested to know if there is anyone you can call in case you need same day childcare.
  2. I have a Beaba Babycook (John Lewis, Jo Jo & Mothercare all carry) which was fantasic when they were first starting solids but for ?90 it was a waste of money as any blender will work. If yours doesn't work well I would try adding more water before you start the blending and the potatos gradually.
  3. hope everything is ok!
  4. We have only been to Barcelona on holiday but lucky you for getting to live there. I would recommend you check the Just Landed website for some general info and hopefully someone else can help you with the area for housing www.justlanded.com/english/Spain
  5. I agree with Mamma Mia and have paid everything from ?5-?10p/h for a babysitter. The Baby sitters website has guide rates for their sitters: http://sitters.co.uk "Babysitters in central London postcode areas E EC N NW SE SW W WC Weekdays: ?5.85 per hour Saturdays: ?6.85 per hour" I normally round up so ?6p/h for a weekday and ?7p/h for a Saturday.
  6. Powerpramming is also good. They meet in Peckham Rye park next to the cafe on Mondays just before 12.30. I am back at work, otherwise I would join you
  7. We have flown a couple times with twin babies on both BA and American Airlines. We purchased extra seats on all the flights. Neither airline provided car seats but we took our own as we needed them in our destination. BA required us to use lap belt extensions and hold the babies on take off and landing. The car seats had to be belted forward facing even though they were approved for rear facing seats. We were allowed to use them during the flight. American Airlines allowed us to use the car seats rear facing. They had never heard of the seat belt extensions and were very relaxed. They allowed us to have one baby in the car seat and one on our lap during take off and landing. A couple on one of our flights spent the money for the FAA approved harness and found it great with a toddler who would not stay in his seat unless he was strapped in. The airline belts are too easy for some babies to unhook but you could just use walking reins instead of purchasing anything special. As a tip, giving your baby a drink during take off and landing is highly recommended as children don't understand they need to swallow when their ears hurt. We found water worked best.
  8. I have a nipper 360 double and my friend tried it with a newborn and 4 year old. It worked just fine. If anyone is interested in seeing/trying to push different types of doubles we have a twins club meet up every other Thursday just outside Peckham Rye Cafe on Thursdays from 10:30-12:30. I will be there this week, 8 April with my buggy and I know some of my friends have other models. If it is raining we meet inside the cafe but please feel free to stop by and ask any questions.
  9. I love the Out n About Nipper 360 or the Mountain Buggy which has a carrycot option. The nipper is very light, can turn round in very small spaces, easy to push. Anything with three wheels is great! Just be careful getting on/off buses and trains, get off backwards otherwise you have to balance on one wheel and it can get stuck in cracks. Other then that the three wheels is perfect and can be used from birth until you no longer need a pram!
  10. Is there a website or somewhere on the forum when I can find a list of all the under 5 activities e.g. baby /toddler play groups in East Dulwich? If not, please can anyone provide me with some details of open activities where you do not need to sign up in advance. Many thanks
  11. We are all in support of you!! See the thread below: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,424391
  12. My husband went to Sainsburys this morning and there was no Aptamil First on the shelves. He asked and was advised it was sent back to the manufacturer for a recall but had no further information. Has anyone heard anything about this? I can not find anything on the internet. The Aptamil First Ready To Use 200 ml carton has been removed from the Sainsburys website but the powder is still available and both powder and ready to use are available at Waitrose and Tesco. Any advice would be appreciated.
  13. Do you offer powerpramming classes when it is raining?
