  1. I've only ever seen the horses plod around Dulwich Park. I 2nd the stables at Mottingham.
  2. I think it's pogo sticks for real hipsters now. Bikes are soooo last Tuesday
  3. I really wish people would stop writing inflammatory posts about dogs and their owners / walkers. Most (most) owners and walkers are responsible and pick up after their dog(s) and are able to keep them under control. When dogs are in a group, they enjoy playing together - not "fighting" or causing "chaos". I don't think I've ever seen someone's dogs literally fighting each other - that would be distressing, and perhaps needs to be reported. I agree that 30 dogs between 3 people is excessive, but again it sounds like exaggeration. As long as people have dogs - and presumably have to go out to work to be able to afford them - they are going to need to employ a dog-walker. Without them the dogs would be left alone for hours upon hours every day which is not an option. Many dog walkers in ED have been doing it for a number of years, and also some will have a background in dog behaviour and training. Also, As far as I am aware, there is only one Dog Control Order in place (4 per handler) at One Tree Hill due to irresponsible dog walkers. All us ED'ers have equal responsibility when using our local parks and it is in all of our interests to do so, so let's just try to live and let live a bit more, and maybe try to modify such emotive language about people who are effectively in the park 365 days of the year, rain or shine.
  4. It is compatible as far as I can see, as all other files - Excel or otherwise - are perfect. I want to know how to de-corrupt a file, I suppose. Tried to download Open Office but I'm not able to run it because it's not Mac apparently
  5. Hi Tractorlad - no I have the built in office apps, so 'pages' and 'numbers'. Baggs - pretty much everything is gobbledegook to me when it comes to computing. You can assume I know literally nothing....!
  6. I recently transferred all my backed up files from my old PC to MacBook. All files are fine, except the one xls. file which I actually need which is an Excel Spreadsheet. Instead of data all I can see is symbols and numbers in all the fields. (All other spreadsheets were converted to Numbers absolutely fine). I have trawled the internet, Youtube, Apple etc to find out how to repair this but I can find nothing - at least nothing I can understand! I'm a bit of a techno-idiot. Any help greatly appreciated....
  7. They're ?1 a roll in Sainsburys, or you could use the Sunday papers.
  8. Lovely. I appreciate that we have people organising all this art - i don't always love it, but I'm not supposed to. I went to the Summer Exhibition on Saturday and there was some very challenging 'art' (going for ?????) amongst some beautiful bits, buts that's my opinion not everyone's. It's one thing having an opinion - that's what makes us all individuals. It's downright rude to hammer home time and time again (from the comfort of your keyboard), how much you despise something. Thank goodness for IngridB and her artists - thank you! :)
  9. I left ED, having lived there since early 90's, for Crystal Palace in March and I couldn't be happier. Upsized from 1 bed pokey flat to large 2 bed garden maisonette w/ garage + OSP. It feels so much nicer - greener and definitely more bohemian and less homogenous, and yet it was not somewhere I'd ever have considered. I walk the dogs in South Norwood Country park where everyone says "good morning" rather than being surgically attached to their iPhone/lycra/power-walking partner. Alexandra nurseries in Penge is a lovely little spot and transport is brilliant. I seem to be 10/15 mins from anywhere good and I've been back to ED once since....can't say I miss it at all!

They turned down my offer of ?324,950 - it was hugely over-priced and very small and i'm so glad they turned it down, now!
  11. Even Penge is v pricey. When I was looking all you could get for ?325k was a beautiful but tiny one bed garden fat. Mind you that was right off the high street, so prime location. parts of Thornton Heath borders SE19 (Crystal Palace) and properties there are far less pricey. I agree with previous post about Rightmove. I was on there every day researching every property in every postcode I could afford/could bear to live in, and just became an 'expert' in what was out there. Go and see as much as you can and you'll find it.
  12. None of the professional dog-walkers, who use the park regularly to walk groups of dogs, have mentioned anything. I thought the same as robbin about the OP's use of the word "clearly".
  13. To be given a house the norm? Or did I miss something? Good luck indeed. Finchley needs you
  14. What Tibby said
  15. @ohmyED - no buggy space, you say? Hurrah! Another place where we can go without kids.
  16. Well said civil servant - I hope this was taken care of.
  17. how awful for, so sorry to hear that...
  18. phew....no Bull Terriers on there. Softies, that's why ; )
  19. Yesterday my postman arrived around 6pm - I was teaching so watched him delivering from the bay window. No bell was rung. This morning I found a collection card for some very important documents which needed a signature and potentially could have nulled some insurance. Not happy with them at all. Get more and more collection cards these days...rant over! They are obviously hugely stretched.
  20. Thanks for updating - I was re-routed. Really hope the cyclist is OK....
