  1. I'm with you and Sue. My old next door neighbour had 3 boys and used to shunt them into the garden at 7ish both Saturday and Sundays when most people are off work, and wouldn't mind a little lie-in. (She didn't go out to work). She obviously wanted a bit of peace and quiet herself but it is really obnoxious at that hour. It is possible to play fairly quietly in a huge garden. A bit of live and and let live, i.e being aware of others wouldn't go a miss. Mind you the same person had a tree surgeon start work in her back garden with his chainsaw at the same time one Saturday, so she clearly didn't give a monkeys :)
  2. I'm with edcam on this one. Totally over the top, and unnecessarily inflammatory. And btw, there are loads of people still happy to walk their dogs in the cemetery - but thanks.

  4. Me too! Certainly some of the best I've had - pretty experimental. Was just thinking about it yesterday...
  5. Mick Mac, as opposed to Mick Max as Mr Smart called you, that's all.
  6. I had my hallway, bedroom, living room, kitchen, stairwell and bannisters and internal doors inc. ceilings done for ?1.5k in April - Perfectly happy with the job.
  7. Agreed: Many of the properties I'm alerted to on Rightmove are reductions. If you can afford to buy you are in a very fortunate position. If you genuinely can afford it - i don't mean the deposit and repayments but, as others have said, any other possible pitfalls - then go for it. And if you do, many congratulations. Buying is by no means for everyone but if you think it is for you, then do it. Buona Fortuna :)
  8. Uncle Grim!! :) Good one
  9. It's Mick Mac, @Toosmart1973. Really not that smart. Who says (anything) .com?
  10. It is vile - 3 times in the last week I've seen people watch, or embarrassingly drag their poor dog along, as it shits on the pavement. Never once seen anyone qualified to fine them actually doing so, though. It's far too difficult to manage. And it's not like poo-bags are not free! Also have pulled over on numerous occasions to hand someone a poo bag as their pooch squats.
  11. Have tried all of the above and couldn't agree more: that if you're inexperienced/time-poor etc there is a huge amount of pre-made stuff which is gorgeous. Good luck, and let us know how you get on! :)
  12. I agree totally with First Mate on this subject. Dogs should be under control at all times; this does not mean on a lead. It means they are responsive to their owner/walker in any given situation. If not, then yes, they must be kept on a lead - especially when the parks are so full of people trying to enjoy the sunshine. Personally I wouldn't sit having a picnic knowing that so many dogs have relieved themselves on the grass - but that's just me! I also think this survey should be directed more to pavement-walkers and not concentrate so much on the parks, and professional walkers/owners. That way, perhaps the woman who let her blonde cockerpoo cr*p right outside The Galleon Hairdressers on Forest Hill Rd yesterday morning at 10.10am, might next time be a little more prepared and take a flipping poo bag out with her. How on earth can this behaviour be monitered if the wardens are only concentrating their efforts on asking dogs to be put on a lead just because someone is a little bit scared of dogs?
  13. I agree FM re: training. That goes for walkers and owners. Nunoolio all you did was quote what I did - I'm well aware of what it says on the site; I have read it, too. What I asked was where is the evidence of residents being attacked by packs of dogs? Also, I get that some people are afraid of dogs. When dogs are playing they run around, sometimes barking. Have you ever stood in a primary school playground at lunchtime? Children run around screaming and playing - sometimes they play fight and knock each other over. Like children, some dogs are full of energy and need to let off steam - obviously in a controlled way - this can't be done on a lead. I'm afraid of lots of things: But that is MY issue - no-one else is to blame.
  14. Totally agree with siousxisue. A blanket borough-wide order is both reactionary and punitive and will not do anything to solve all the revolting dog mess on our streets and public spaces. People who don't pick up don't because they don't want to - or are too busy to notice it happening in the first place. far more patrols needed. Also when was a resident, "attacked by a pack of dogs"? (As per the Southwark Survey) Surely this terrible event would have made the news? Come on....
  15. Going back to bed on a Saturday morning with a huge mug of tea, the dogs and Saturday Live on R4
  16. Sue - this seems to be a Country thing. Where my bro lives, no-one picks up (including him until I shamed him into doing it) but there was a total lack of bins despite the fact that almost everyone owns at least one dog!
  17. Oh my god that's amazing!! So happy for Nina and her family....
  18. I'm loath to recommend Tom as he is such a find, I fear he will just get too busy! I can only echo what everyone else has already said; charming, communicative, happy to give advice, and extremely competitively-priced. Tom is now my go-to electrician - Would definitely recommend all day long.
  19. Donchos, who is being judgemental? Agree Zelig
  20. Robbin I think Louisa starts earlier than 7pm...;)
  21. Agree totally with turtle: if dogs are being stolen - which they clearly are - it is your responsibility not to put your dog at risk in the first place. I manage to shop without taking mine...
