Each point of view has its merits, but surely it was a little over the top for the school to term the incident as an "attempted abduction" without, apparently, having any evidence in support? More years ago than I care to remember, a man whose face was vaguely familiar to me offered me a lift on my way home from school. As taught by my school and parents, I declined, thought no more about it and didn't tell anyone as I didn't attach any significance to the incident. Very soon afterwards it transpired that the man was a business colleague of my father - I had met him once. He took the trouble to phone my father to tell him of the incident, and my parents were happy to know that I was acted as guided by them and my school.

That's the problem, funkychick - Dulwich is not at present catering for those of its residents who would like to shop at M & S and/or Waitrose! I have not seen the planning application, but James Barber did seem to indicate in his post on this thread that the application was on the basis that the property would be let to M & S. If it is now Iceland who will be getting the new lease, how does this affect the planning issue? James Barber also, I think, indicated that, were Waitrose to acquire the lease, they would not want to develop the property at all, but just take it as is - would not this be the best solution, assuming they wanted the lease?

Dulwich Medical Centre...can't get an appointment

Agree about Forest Hill Road practice. Even for a specified named doctor wait is generally under 5 working days and for unspecified doctor a lot less. -

in just about every walk of life there is bound to be some dishonesty. However, it would not be fair to tarnish the reputation of the vast majority of Royal Mail employees with the possible, unproven, dishonest actions of a few. I would like to respond to you in more detail, but it would be inappropriate to do so on a public forum and no, I do not work for, or have any connection, with Royal Mail. -

I agree that the local mail staff, sorting as well as postmen and women, are honest. The problems, generally, arise elsewhere in the chain. -

From my experiences with cash going missing from special delivery envelopes (envelopes delivered empty or with a substantial amount missing) it is my understanding that the Police will get involved only upon complaints from Royal Mail, and not from individuals. After being fobbed off for many months, it was only when I emailed the chief executive of Royal Mail that the cash was refunded in all three cases. Even then I had to undergo extensive interrogation by phone. -

I get around a lot during the course of my job and am showing Patrick's photograph to everyone with whom I come in contact as well as asking family to pass the word to their friends and colleagues. Do hope he is found soon . -

Seems he refused to sign a confidentiality agreement with Messrs Cameron and Osborne so should make for interesting reading. More trouble ahead for Mr Cameron?

Apparently he is writing his memoirs.

Some charity shops charge a few pence for customers wanting their purchases in a bag, so no need to feel guilty as it helps their causes.

Generally speaking, weak economy, stock market, wars etc = increase in gold price. Weak economy etc etc = problems in property market.

About 3 years ago you could buy a 1oz gold bar for approximately ?240. Yesterday's price for a 1 oz gold bar was ?1106,74. Many gold buyers are not losers! And are still buying, even at today's prices.
