  1. I can highly recommend Aston. He came to our rescue when we were let down by another local carpenter. He fixed the shelves that had fallen down and has since done lots of other jobs. He even fitted guttering and a water butt to our shed. Very professional and reliable. We will definitely use him again.
  2. I was delighted to take part and really enjoyed chatting to all the ladies who came along. It was such a good idea for an event, very well organsied, not least due to the well stocked bar and standard of canapes. It was good to see everyone go home happy with their items of clothing. Sallyx
  3. I'd agree with Top Shop's Leigh, they are a very good quality fabric. Overbump definitely stay up better in the later stages - I'd try ASOS, New Look and Seraphine for these. As with standard size the fit very much depends on your bodyshape. Top Shop's are slim fit and Seraphine a bit more generous on the hips.

  6. ...I tried to send this as a personal message but it appears your account doesn't exsit any longer. I thought I'd post it anyway in case you are still out there somewhere... Hi Ms B, I understand that you don't want to splash out on a personal stylist but I feel compelled to offer a little bit of advice as I understand how frustrating it can be when you shop the high street. I do work with most of the personal shopping departments on the high street and you are right they can be a bit hit and miss. The problem is even the best department store stylist is limited to what?s available in the store. You?ll really need to visit a few other stores to give yourself the best chance of getting some lovely outfits. I?ve never managed to source a client?s wardrobe from one store alone. Obviously I am biased but aside from advising you on what suits you and your body shape, an independent stylist will save you time and money in the long run. They?ll know exactly what?s on the high street, what?s value for money and the best brands to suit your style. This cuts out a lot of the ?faff? involved in shopping. If you do change your mind or want some further reassurance a number of my clients have posted on the forum in this link:- http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,745173,882283#msg-882283 You may want to PM them for additional information I?m happy to recommend some stores for you (free of charge) but first I?d need to know your personal style. Please feel free to call me if you would like any more information. Happy Shopping! Sally [email protected] www.queenbeestyling.com M: 07956 293845

  8. Hi there, Don?t worry you are not alone. I work as a personal stylist and find that most women, me included, have to adapt their wardrobe when they have children. We need clothes that can endure mucky hands and make us feel modern but not too trendy. I agree that the high street woefully under provides for anyone over a size 14. This is crazy as the most popular sizes are 14?s and 16?s. In my experience of shopping, and that?s over 20?s years worth, there isn?t a one-stop shop solution. If you haven?t already done so I would advise investing in some key classic pieces. As a lot of my clients are mums like you I have found the most useful items to be:- Plain indigo straight leg jeans ? try Levi?s Curve Id. They have different fits depending on how curvy you are. Bit more pricy than Gap or Uniglo but worth it if you struggle with jeans fittings. They have a store on Regent street and concessions in most House of Fraser and John Lewis stores. Cotton roll hem trousers are very versatile too and come in some great colours. Try John Lewis Weekend Collection and M&S Indigo. Cotton jersey striped tops are great for adding colour and layering under jackets and cardigans. Very.co.uk has a lovely one in its ?So Fabulous? collection in Navy/white & Cerise which starts form a size 14 and isn?t frumpy. The other item I swear buy is a casual blazer/ jacket, they look great and can hide a multitude of sins. ?Inspire? at New Look have some great coloured jersey ones. These are very comfortable to wear and what?s more are machine washable and don?t need ironing. Finally accessories can add life to most outfits. Zara always have a great collection of scarves in fantastic prints and bright colours that won?t break to bank. I agree with the other posts that Uniglo are excellent for good quality basic tops and knitwear. John Lewis is great for choice and range of sizes. I would consider Zara again for tops and accessories. The trousers and jean fittings tend to be smaller though. If you would like any more information I?m more than happy to help. 10. Despite a long career in fashion I too had a Vicki Pollard period after the birth of my first child. I've since set up my own personal styling company and used my experice to help lots of local mums get their style back - aka being human again! So here are my top five tips to help you on your way:- 1. Plain indigo jeans - worth buying even when your body is in transition. If you are carrying a bit more weight on your tummy and thighs try a straight cut instead of a skinny as these are more flattering. Also find a style that has at least 2% elastane as they are more comfortable and hold their shape better. Aviod lots of bleacing and distressing for obvious reasons. Gap's real straight are great. 2. Jersey jacket - Will cover-up a multitude of sins and are very on trend at the moment. They are really versatile as you can dress them up and down. What's more the jersey fabrci doesn't need ironing you can just wash and hang. Great for baby lefovers. Try Zara. 3.Lightweight printed scarf - excellent way to add colour and a little extra something to everyday outfits. Try Zara and Mango 4. Statement necklace - will add a new lease of life to old evening tops and destract eyes from the tummy area! Try Top Shop or Anthropologie if you want to push the boat out. 5. Woven blouson top - any print, colour or style you like. They skim nicely over the tummy area and work well with jeans. 11. Hello Little ED Family, I'm a local mum with two children and have recently set up my own personal styling company, Queen Bee Styling. Having worked in the fashion industry for 20 years I decided to set up the business in response to so many mums feeling just like you, myself included. Most mums I work with spend so much time focusing on the little ones that they forget about themselves but it's not too difficult to get back on track. I'm not going to give you the hard sell because you have been given some great advice but I'm happy to talk to you, free of charge, if you would like a bit more advice. As well as the usual personal styling services, i.e. personal shopping, wardrobe refreshes and style sessions we also hold styling parties. These are a great way to enjoy an evening with the girls in the comfort of your own home. We cover a range of topics such as: the latest trends, how to make the most of your body shape, building a capsule wardrobe, jeans (best brands, fit and where to shop for them) and how to accessorise. We're also looking to hold workshops at a local venue where there will be a small charge on the door. These group events give you a really good introduction to personal styling at a fraction of the price, having said that our prices are very reasonable. If you would like more information please email me at [email protected] (our website should be finished soon) hope to speak to you soon Sally
