Have had a Mini Clubman as family car for a few years now - much better than the standard 2dr. Can really recommend. Lots of boot room. Also incredibly cheap to run, and if you buy via Mini Cherished (i.e. second hand through Mini dealership) you get all servicing thrown in for a given time.

Good grief. What a miserable, joyless post. 100% of responsible dog owners have their dogs microchipped; it's routine during first vaccination / check-up. With council cuts I really can't see Southwark bothering to DNA test dog faeces. The long and short of it is for people to control their animals. The majority do, but as with all things in life there is an idiot minority who don't. Absolutely bonkers that buses get priority here anyway (what is it with bus priority - they clog up the road enough as it is - especially as there are only about 3 people ever on the darn things).

20mph is absolute bananas. It is simply making the roads even more congested as the flow of traffic is being reduced to an absolute crawl. 30mph was a much more realistic speed limit.

So? from that brilliant list of proposed artworks, this is the winner? Was this the one voted for the majority, or was the decision based on other factors (such as cost)? Personally really disappointed - there were other more exciting and engaging options presented, and it seems the safest (and most bland) concept was picked. All in all rather dull...

As a resident of one of the affected streets I've contacted Southwark's Public Realm Projects, Parking Design department to request a reconsultation. And I urge anyone else who feels it's time for some fairness to do the same. It's now been two years and the situation has gone beyond breaking point - and it's only going to get significantly worse with the proposed massive Camberwell Art College development on Peckham Road. Currently we have commuters arriving as early as 7am to get a space - the street is horribly congested, traffic has increased seemingly tenfold, and it is absolutely impossible for any tradesperson to visit - let alone ourselves park - within a 5 minute walking radius during the day. We have the same commuters arriving day in and day out - who, we believe, work at Kings, the employment office on Peckham Road, or who use Denmark Hill station. What is required is not a new CPZ zone but an extension of the Lucas Gardens CPZ to cover Shenley Rd and the parallel roads that adjoin Vestry Rd (it really does not warrant an extension to Talfourd or Denman - and residents here are incredibly vocal about how they don't have a problem - so these streets should remain as is, and allow us residents on streets that are affected to be fairly heard and have a CPZ). As one of the posters on here has stated it's not about being able to park outside your own home (all but a pipe dream) - but to have the opportunity to park and lead one's daily life at least within a decent walking vicinity. It's also about reducing the traffic, noise, pollution and making our street a pleasant place. At the moment we only have the weekends where we can do, or have, any of that.

Just wanted to give a watch-out. Someone has been going through our recycling bin on a regular basis over the past fortnight (during the night) - pretty methodically taking stuff out and sifting through. There could be lots of reasons; identity theft being one of them of course. This weekend we found this person/s had also defecated in our front garden as well. We're just off Lyndhurst Grove. The local police community group has been notified. If anyone else has had an issue with this please do report it. And take care to shred anything personal etc before throwing it in the recycling bin.

I have just discovered the amazing Southwark Recycling centre on Devon Street, SE15 (off Old Kent Road): can recycle all manner of things, from clothes, to plastics (such as plant pots), to books and CDs. If you can drive over (you just drive straight in to the centre and drop off) I'd definitely recommend it.

We do the journey down to Exeter regularly. Always, always M4 to Bristol then straight down the M5. Wouldn't dream of going down the A303 (unless you like getting stuck behind a tractor, or crawling past Stonehenge).

I'd be wary of reading too much into the list that details how many children go to which school. Yr 2 children usually take exams for approximately four schools, many get multiple offers - including 'making it' into the 'big independents'. Where the child eventually goes is more often than not down to parents' preference, finances, and suitability of school to child.

Surely buildings in a conservation area (I'm talking about the Victoria on Bellenden) need to get permission and public support (i.e. seeing the 'artwork' that is planned before it goes up) before this goes ahead?
