Still crazy, work colleague sold his top floor one bedroom flat near tainmount rise in forest hill for ?378,000 last week. Listed for ?250,000 then the bidding war started. -
The development of the station area is going to happen much sooner than later I think, good mate works for a creative business in blenheim grove, they have upped sticks due to uncertainty of the situation. There are also other artisans in the arches and on the street seriously thinking about a move. Over recent months there has also been a much higher than usual rate of health and safety inspections. And dont forget the dreaded compulsory purchase order which was used to great affect in the east end leading up to 2012 olympics.

Adventure bar closing?

Previous to adventure was Inside 72, that was a fantastic place. -
Not that I liked the place at all but better than another empty retail space.

Not going to make a detailed contribution so not to be seen as to perpetuate hearsay. However, I am very good friends with a chap who has had many business dealings with the gentleman who actually owns the capitol building.....lets just say watch this space. -

Moved to HOP five years ago after ten in East Dulwich, ED was cool, but I really love living in HOP. Move to HOP was based on house prices and transport links. Great places to eat, relaxed vibe, close to ED, Forest Hill and many parks. People sometimes sneer that we dont have a pub, however Forest Hill close as is ED. Not having a pub also means we dont have roaming packs of drunks on the streets at night or the associated crime. The bars are busy and have great food and drink. great deli, overground, sainsburys, good chippy....oh and we will have access to thameslink when it opens.

Honor oak station is having lifts installed at present.

They are probably waiting on the peckham station redevelopment before the works, in regard to pathing take place.

Opposite problem for me in honor oak park....have had two weeks of disruption and cant park in my driveway due to road resurfacing and new footpaths. I have noticed that all the new resurfacing and new footpaths are occurring in areas serviced by London Overground...honor oak, sydenham, penge west and starting in anerley shortly.

When was East Dulwich at it's best for you?
Angusvanfrehley replied to Otta's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
2000 to 2009 was blinding time.....inside 72 just rocked, the foresters, edt and the early days of the gowlett arms. Great community spirit, great fun. Used to cross LL without having to look twice for traffic! Moved to honor oak four years ago, cheaper housing and better public transport..very rarely hit ed very often, very good memories. -
Heathrow or Gatwick from ED?
Angusvanfrehley replied to LucyInTheRye's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yesterday gatwick...east croydon...honor oak park 35mins door to door. -
The HOB is usually pretty good, a mix of covers and indy outfits.......I was there Friday, the bands were not to my taste either. The half moon and the great exhibition are generally good localy.....you can also try the amersham arms and the new cross inn down at new cross, bands most nights.

Old Moo Too, Sew East Dulwich Shop 45 Lordship Lane
Angusvanfrehley replied to IanSE22's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
To be fair I am not an expert on businesses rates.... I have it on very good authority the rent doubled..... a friend enquired and was told ?36k a year. With insurance, pay for public radio use, accountant fees, wages, security, utilities and purchase of stock your looking at a lot of loot to make it work. -

Angusvanfrehley replied to IanSE22's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Moo Too.....the rent was esentially doubled, this impacted on the business rates, it just became non viable to remain open. I wish all the best to owner and employees nice people. -
Small world.... I was at a bbq today and I was introduced to someone who happens to be a member of staff at Goodrich, so I just outright asked them about the trapping, alleged or otherwise. The person confirmed it as fact and informed me that there had been about five or six foxes trapped to their knowledge and also one, possibly two domestic cats.
-
I was at a friends house last night for dinner and my friend and his wife were having a terrible time with their daughter, she was very upset and crying constantly. The couple were telling me that their daughter, who is in year three at Goodrich school, was upset because during the day whilst playing, her and her friends went into a garden behind the old school house? In the garden they found a fox that had been caught in a trap, their daughter said it was shaking, looked hungry and scared. Basically their daughter does not want to go to school today, because in her words "their hurting animals". I realise that foxes are a pest at times and need to be relocated or put down, but really cant this be done in a better way. Surely the traps should be checked each morning and emptied if need be, before children are exposed to this kind of experience. I am no great fan of Mr Fox, but I also feel that animals need to be treated in a humane fashion. I personally can think of much places to be than stuck in a small cage with no water, especially given the temperatures we have been experienceing the last few days.
