  1. I had a lovely wander down Lordship Lane at the weekend and bought quite a few presents. Most of my shopping was in Moo TOo and Oliver Bonas (I know it's a chain, but they do have great cards) and the East Dulwich Deli. I also love Review Bookshop on Bellenden Road - they are so helpful with suggestions and recommendations. And Amazon may be able to suggest what else you might like, but isn't able to help when you know it was published about two years ago, the author is getting quite alot of attention recently, didn't win the Booker and it's a one word title. Which was enough for Ros in Review to get what I was after! And I found the children's bookshop and the bike shop in Herne Hill hugely helpful. Sorry - I know the most of these aren't on Lordship Lane. But they are local and (mostly) independent shops.
  2. I can recommend Andyman, who did various jobs on Saturday. He put up a CD rack and a big picture, some shelves, filled various holes in the walls, hung a vegetable basket from the ceiling in the kitchen and resealed the bath. He was clear about what the options were and the results might be regarding the bath. He posts on here as Spoiltdog. His number is 07564194363.
  3. I can recommend my cleaner, who is looking for more work in the area. I'm hesitant to say she is brilliant, as I know from sharing a cleaner years ago that different people have different expectations. She is very responsive when I ask her to do something new or different (or when I've told her that something are not important to me). PM me if you'd like her details and more any more information. Lou
  4. Once the new Overground trains start in December, you'll also have the option of going to Highbury and changing to the other Overground line for the last couple of stops. Some of it is underground, but most is above ground.
  5. Hi Bruce, sorry to hear about your bike. I must admit I've given up trying to insure bikes. I had a bike stolen from the shared entrance to the flats and it wasn't insured under either my contents policy or my specific bike insurance as it was locked with a cable lock, not a D-lock. We aren't allowed to install a wall or floor anchor as the entrance is part of the fire escape route (despite there being space under the stairs which is well out of the way) and Dlock was too small to reach any solid object. I also wasn't covered when another bike was stolen early one morning - the policy excluded thefts between 11pm and 7am. I now use a gold rated D-lock on the frame and have Pinhead locks on both wheels. Which didn't stop someone nicking the saddle last year!
