  1. Good idea to spend some time in the flat during the shop's hours of operation in case there are any unforeseen smells, weird noises or other drawbacks which aren't immediately apparent.
  2. I agree with bawdy and Luz. Go Amy!
  3. >>I can't quite work it out either. Especially for what is a pleasant, but not really high end part of London. Where are all these people with 900K to spend coming from? Clapham, Jez
  4. Bellenden Road is not a road. It is actually a person.* And it is saying this: "Ooooh I do 'ate myself for being a bit common. I know what I'll do, I'll associate meself wiv east Dulwich some'ow. That way people will fink I ave got class." *In the mind of Dulwich Fox
  5. What kind of people actually go to Boho bar or Adventure bar? I have a feeling whoever they are, they are not from around here!
  6. M&S vouchers?
  7. Thanks both, will call enviro health. Might take a few sneaky pics on my phone (if I am feeling brave). It annoys me so much when people sh*t on their own doorstep. There is just no excuse for it.
  8. Just around the corner live some people whose house is always an eyesore. They currently have a rotten old mattress in the front garden. Their bins are usually on the street, often with rubbish spilling out everywhere across the pavement. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to tackle this? Is it worth calling the council?
  9. Ah, the internalised self-hatred of the middle classes. The guilt of secretly wanting an M&S Food to open... it eats you up inside.
  10. >>Full of the Christmas spirit, eh, James? big grin Hey Sue, this was sort of my point. Seems a bit mean spirited to sit around slagging off people who set up successful small businesses. Especially when they support charities!
  11. I've got an idea for all you miserable moaners who whinge whenever a shop opens that isn't exactly to your taste. Why don't you open the kind of shop you want yourself?
  12. The "reasons why" are as bonkers and nonsensical as the entire notion of petitioning a charity shop not to open.
  13. A charity shop is opening and someone on this forum suggests petitioning them not to. I never cease to be amazed at how twisted and deranged some contributors to this forum are.
  14. Called today and was told the wait for a pre-booked is ONE MONTH! Sorry but this is just ridiculous.
  15. Is there a chapter in it where everyone argues about whether they want an M&S Food or not?
  16. I believe there have been experiments where fake queues are set up and passers-by join them, assuming that if there is a queue it must be somethinmg worth queuing for.
  17. For a moment, I thought this said 'Gently Elephant is hiding.' Surreal.
  18. East Dulwich GBK has really gone downhill. Went in there a few weeks ago and it was a total shambles, so that may be why they're more empty of late. When they first opened it was much better run, portions were bigger and better presented.
  19. No way. Draft House was mediocre, Franco Manca is amazing and they will make great use of the space I'm sure!
  20. Fusion is such a waste... lovely space and gym ruined by terrible management. I remember going last summer during the heatwave and the place was steaming hot with no tissues available and worst of all, both water fountains constantly broken/empty. Hopeless.

What sort of donor? A heart donor? Yes, as a meat eater you may be needing one of those at some point.

    >>Just because someone is veggie does not mean that they eat a more sustainable diet than a meat eater (am not anti-veggie by the way, just want to make a point). Categorically incorrect, as meat is more unsustainable

I recently flew to China with Virgin Atlantic and my only real complaint was the dull, completely uninspiring veggie meal. It seemed as if the assumption was that if you're vegetarian, you're not really bothered about food. Contrast this with my experience of Air India. Delayed by 6 hours, the flight was chaotic and the interior of the plane outdated and shabby to say the least. But the vegetarian curry served was fantastic. By far the best plane food I've ever eaten. They could teach Virgin a thing or two.

Ah, I get you now Bob. I agree that veggie options are often poor, but this is due to ignorance and bad cooking. You only need to go somewhere like Kerala (predominantly veggie region of India) to realise how wonderful it can be. So in a way I suppose we agree on this point.
