Great for Kingsdale and David Cameron's visit last week. Get Barack and Michelle Obama, Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Alan Sugar and the like and I'm sure this will help propel the school into orbit, but still remaining grounded and providing a great education, and my child has not started yet! Great job. To add I'm not a Cameronite! but it's a start!!!!!

Hi I've had a week to calm down, step away and reflect on all of this. Thankfully been contacted by the school, which boosts my confidence. I am a person that gets involved with my children's education and not just leave them to the school, but allowing them to do their job. I think deep down I know it is the correct choice and after hearing about independant education and reading 'To Miss with Love', am determined, with I hope other parents and teaching staff to make Kingsdale even more academically successful, but having emotionally competent all rounded men and women in whatever society that they choose to live and work in. Their engineering specialism and that they will teach Latin, which my daughter has been learning from year 4 installs further confidence. I will no longer be a novice when I go through this all again later this year! Thank you

Thank you Peckhamgatecrasher The allocations say that because my daughter was given her 2nd choice all other choices below that automaticaly drop off the register. So it appears that there is no hope of being allocated these or appealing? Got Kingsdale (silly me got taken in by the hype and PR sell) Odd thing is I work in PR! Prendegast and Haberdashers HC was 3rd and 4th. Haberdashers sent a letter that they were aware that they were not placed higher! I have sent my acceptance twice to Kingsdale as recommended by the allocation letter, with no acknowledge of receipt, as well as an email to the head with my concerns and wanting to me with him, deputy and/or chair of Govenors. For my sins I go through this all again later this year with my 2nd.

Was just reading some posts re Harris boys school. What is this about older Kingsdale boys mugging them?

Thank you westof. yes, and it is that awful feeling! Also any possibility of appealing for a school lower down than the one choosen is automatically removed!

Thank you westof, yes my anxiousness is showing correct re A'Level results. Re applying to schools outside of borough lived. on your SCAF you can name any secondary school (outside independant and priviate of course) you can name any state or state selective school. You do have to ensure that you meet their admissions criteria. One must consider that however much you may want your child to go a grammar school and they prove themselves to be able to, distance has to be considered. However, I know of many children who have been offered places at Grammar schools, which are mostly outside of London. How the admissions system really works has been very intersting and I am now far more informed when my second child becomes part of the 2012 Year 7 cohort.

Kingsdale was my daughters 2nd choice, after a Kent Grammar school not offering my daughter her first choice. I have had sleepless nights feeling that I have let my daughter down by her now being offered a place at Kingsdale and not putting them lower on the SCAF, where Prengergast and Haberdashers HC were also listed. Perhaps I was also taken in by the sell and hearing that the published 2010 GCSE and A'Level may not be as great as indicated, makes me feel rather ill. I am trying to find something to hold onto which will not disadvantage my daughter in the long run by attending this school.
