  1. Karter, when you said Jeremy did you mean Jamie? If you did then yes I would be up for a game. Just let me know time and a place.
  2. I'm reasonable......its been a while since I have played but I can hold my own
  3. What sort of pagan and witchcraft rituals? If anyone is interested in celebrating new moons and hugging trees then that is something I am always interested in.
  4. I've been trying to find some chess people for a while so I would be up for a game or two.
  5. Mark, watch the film as it makes you realise how good a man and a public speaker Al Gore is. Huguenot, if you do happen to meet anymore of those in need of an "extension" then please tell them about the hybrid lexus cars which supply all the schlong (dependent on what level of status they require of course) you need in an environmentally friendly manner. They even have a 4x4 version for the family. DM - 9/10 soft bottoms choose high quality Nouvelle recycled
  6. I just watched this film for the first time last night and I was shocked by the scale of the issue and how long the knowledge has been denied the human race. As my own personal follow up to the programme I would like to know if everyone on this forum uses Low energy bulbs? I would also like to campaign for people to stop using their cars to get around ED. I must say after seeing this film I worry that we are not individually and as a collective doing nearly enough. Anyone else have any thoughts or has seen the film?
  7. I have to say I agree with Paul. I love SMB and get on really well with all the guys there. Sometimes they are happy sometimes not. That's life no? Also got offered a free haircut in there last week by Village Hair. Apparently on Tuesday they are short of men for practise so offer free haircuts and acost you if you loiter to much... Really good haircut actually
  8. "Many youngsters congregate around the area of the new bespoke home bringing an artistic and exhuberent energy to the area. The Mcing (modern day poetry) is a speciality and as sure as your woken up to the dawn of the day by beautiful choral East Dulwich birds, these youngsters will send you to sleep with some hard hitting lyrics of life on the street" An Except fron the latest sales brochure
  9. There is a man in Hampstead that shoots them. Not that I am into that sort of thing but it is allowed. Apparently some of the local residents hire him to go out every week and cull a few. It was a very interesting article in one of the London newspapers last year...... Fractionater - Do you still have your Bengal? Just wondered if you let them outside on a regular basis unsupervised?
  10. Dear Ed, Whilst I agree that PHP represent the devils work, may I go back to a thread I started previously about house prices. If you (and everyone else) in the area is all up for getting the most out of the rising house prices, how can you be upset by PHP ethos of essentially destroying the prospect of more small businesses moving into the area. Same principles apply and the sooner everyone in the area accepts responsibility for letting estate agents make this a prime area for rich, cash paying property investors, developers and the like, the sooner we will stop companies like PHP controlling the real estate (although may be a bit late now). Lets hope white stuff give the third store to a nice independent retailer on a low rent just to piss off PHP. Jamie
  11. Might be interested after the summer. Let me know more when you have enough people up for it
  12. How did Omarith end up with 1%. They are great
  13. Any one know if it's for sale or which department in the council is responsible for the building?
  14. Why are there so many angry men......? I'm at a loss. Is there a logical arguement for why so many male obstetricians cut women open rather than supporting them giving birth naturally......answer according to Today's E.S.......Lawsuits. Is that logical or fair....no.... Is it something that people should spend more of there time thinking about and signing a petion about compared to a womens only swim lane....most definately. Will any of you get angry about this....Probably not.. I think that any of the arguements regarding religious beliefs or the things set out by abby are perfectly logical, plausible and real reasons that women should have there own PEAK time. You lot should be ashamed of yourselves not Fusion!
  15. Thanks Spymum, As you have been so kind in your compliments I have had to take some time to read your blog and I must say that "manny's" would also be a great thing for young boys to be trained into. That would make them a bit more prepared for fatherhood and reduce gun crime, because they would be far to busy with chores and being adored by loving mothers than to be concerned with ego driven fueds! x
  16. That is a great idea.....6 months of hard military training and some front line action. Although I do think there is too much alcohol and drugs in the army these days too. Anyway I think military service should be bought back but changed to the peace core and everyone has to do a year of travelling to a part of the world that needs support, learning and exchanging skills and community building. That would really make a difference to people's lives
  17. I have started this up again because last night a van was firebombed at the end of our road. I agree with what you are saying about drugs being untackled in this country, however there is not the police man power or will to do this. Essentially it is a global industry and a global problem which does not get solved by a localised or UK wide crack down. People who are taking drugs need to change their views on their habits. It is the only way it will work and will probably lead to an enlightened society. I also think that the only way to really get control of the situation is to legalise it, tax it, monitor it and use the money raised to stamp out the problem. However lets be real about this Alcohol and cigarettes wreck an equal number of lives than drugs. I will not be swayed on this point. Its a slower process sometimes but abuse/addiction is the issue and not the intoxicant. Running away from life choices and having no sense of direction, feeling miserable, lonely, unsupported, unworthy, unable, useless, not part of society, etc etc.... These are reasons that dependencies exist. These reasons are also some of the reasons kids do what they do. I believe that they are angry at the world, that they need help, support and guidance. There are lots of people in the communities doing this so I say again that I think people should get together and work out something to do to help these people in need.
  18. Sorry but I think they are pretty awful too and East Dulwich Cars or Carriages have always been 100% reliable and with lovely drivers. There is another thread I started on here about Panther cars and I would never use them again either.
  19. Funny, I was going past this place today thinking how on earth does it survive? I've read a lot of good things about irish-mexican fusion food.
  20. Old Timer, I hear what you are saying but drugs is only a part of a much wider issue. As I have referred to before there is a really interesting book called Freakonomics which details a study over 5 years with a gang in NY, I think, where a rogue socioligist went and studied Gang culture, drug deals and the economics behind it. Essentially drugs is an economy like any other. For low income kids (Black, brown, white) it is a way of earning money that is easily open to them, more so than the traditional jobs like newspaper rounds, shop jobs which they may not have the necessary social skills for. For kids to be earning ?500 a day there has to be a person earning that/stealing that. This person will be any colour and more likely than not educated and a cocaine or crack addict. Robbery for drug addiction I would estimate accounts for a smaller proportion than the rich. I would hazard a guess at 20% of people in the UK have taken drugs and probably 50% of that number use them regularly. Drugs are taken to avoid the reality of life, they are taken by nearly every demographic in society including customs officials. I know this as a former addict I have met many people from all walks of life that take drugs. I would say to take on Drugs you have to take on Alcohol, Cigerettes, Gambling and all other forms of addiction. You have to be committed to creating a scoiety where their is no poverty line because everyone lives above it. I agree that there needs to be a zero tolerance attitude in some area's but not in all. I would not have got through my own addiction without my partners unfailing love. Everyone needs to know that this is the one defining quality that saves us all . For if there is no love what is the point in living, hence gun carrying and the general degradation of our society. Love is the binding thing that pulls us all together. I definately agree that there should be more jails and people should be sentenced properly but I also think that with that you need the proper counselling and psycho therapy solutions for in mates otherwise they will just come out and bite you on the arse again.
  21. I think that kids need a place to go. I know a lot of people that run community projects and they all say the same thing, kids on the street are generally not wanted at home by their parents. Therefore I would suggest that they need to find their parenting from some other place....namely the community. I also believe that kids will not buy into something or respect it unless they created it and are a part of the whole process. A good project will give a positive group role with an equally positive outcome. We cannot do anything without so we need to get a large group of the young and unhelped. We also need people that are doing the work in the community already, would not want to step on anyone's toes, and we all need to help each other. Funding (as the news has just reminded me). If we can get something good together then we need to get wealthy individuals to fund it. It also needs a constant guaranteed 10 year funding plan (minimum) Personally I have had many dreams about the Peckham Rye school and I think that it needs to be done but I also think that funding needs to be found for the few things that are left in South East doing this sort of work. So 1) Contact with youth group organisations and arts organisation doing this sort of work already 2) A coherent plan of what we want to acheive and how we are going to achieve it 3) Money - When we have a concrete idea of what everyone needs fundraise it.....If people give money they need to be assured that it is going to work otherwise what is the point. Therefore any planning needs to be amazing and accurate and the people involved need to be the best.
  22. Whilst debate is good blaming society is counter productive. I think we should do something. I also think that the "reclaim the streets" is a good idea and obviously behaving in the correct manner in public is great. However it needs more. Is anyone up for having a go as I have some good idea's, enthusiam and some contacts to get idea's out of ideaville but I also know that I have a varying degree of time as I already run one business. I don't think government is going to change anything but I do think that if a lot of community people come together and do something then it would be worth the effort....... Any takers?
  23. Best Indian Restaurent I've been to in Central london is RASA in charlotte street. Vegetarian and fish instead of Halal but should be ok? Anyway best tasting food I have had. Traditional Kerala food. Sat at the table salivating and trying to decide what to eat for 30 minutes...Staff lovely and mid range pricing. 5 hungry people with starters, main, two bottles of good red and dessert ?160.
  24. I think there are a whole host of things that need to be taken into consideration. Yes DISCIPLINE and RESPECT are a big part of what is needed, but so is LOVE, CARE and COMMUNITY VALUES. This is how people learn D and R. I was listening to a programme last night about how young black youth (and I think a lot of youth in general) are missing a family structure, extended and Nuclear. Also what is there for kids to do that is interactive with society at night...not a lot. Some parents are resentful of having kids, some parents do not know how to deal with them as they may not have the older generation to teach them and there is no real choice (probably how they feel) in what they can do. Maybe they want to feel part of a unit/part of a society so join a gang. Then they get scared and arm themselves because it is dangerous on the streets. Ok a little simplistic and sure there is more to it but surely a good way for people (us) to get involved it by going to people like the Street Reverend Guy who I have heard a lot about recently and ask what we can do to help. One suggestion, get the money together to make the abandoned school on Peckham Rye and turn it in to a big Youth centre where young people can learn outside the curriculum and it is supported by people who want to help young people find themselves and find a safe home. Kids are evolving and need to learn boundaries but also they see through a lot of the bullshit of society and they want to know what the point of life is.....and its not sitting in an office (no offence to office people but everybody is looking for something more real and a deeper more meaningful connection....young people need this more than "here's a job")
  25. I was discussing this with an Indian gentleman whilst getting my car fixed the other day and he put me right and said it has less to do with race, it is only that you hear about it more when it involve black communities. Apparently happens in West London a lot too and obviously there are a number of other places all over London that are the same. List of possible reasons why things are like this (instincts rather than fact necessarily) This affects everyone! Poverty Education (lack of) State of families today Drugs (read freakonomics....very interesting) A general lack of discipline and respect for elders A culture that is obsessed with wealth accumulation TV....people don't communicate with each other The fact that adults are scared of kids. Yes they can be dangerous but you cannot be scared of them. The boundaries have gone and they know it. (lots of really interesting reality TV programmes that show this - The one occasional good thing about TV) Nothing for teenagers to do So much anger and no one to help people deal with it What do we do? What do young people want us to do? The "pretend" police cannot do anything and kids know it. They also know that the jails are full and they can pretty much get away with anything.
