  1. Telegraph Hill is great for fireworks too! Amazing views and good crowd. Enjoy!
  2. ToastEd and love Perks and White in Herne Hill!
  3. Love Lorenzo - will defo be checking this out. Hopefully they'll have the lunchtime deal too...
  4. Hi, does anybody have the Guardian 'Weekend' magazine from last Saturday 2/2 please? I can collect. PM if so. Many thanks.
  5. Admin... Would you consider a jobs section on the forum? I understand jobs get posted from time to time in the businesses and trades section but I think it would be really handy for ED employers and those in ED looking for work to have a dedicated page for jobs. Just a suggestion... Thanks!
  6. I don't think it is sterotypical to worry about running in South London (or anywhere else in London) it can be quite rough and if it is still dark at 6am I wouldn't feel comfortable despite living around here all my life and being quite street wise. I think you have to be careful because people are often up and about at that time coming home from clubs or just hanging around! You do hear of stories about women runners being targeted. I would say go for it but just have your wits about you and stay away from any parks or woods
  7. The old gothic Nunhead cemetery is perfect for walks. Skehan's pub (near the station) is a good proper community pub - great for live music, with a pool table and thai kitchen! Telegraph Hill park is lovely with amazing views of the city. FC Soper fishmongers is great. Ayers bakers for bread and cakes and delicious doughnuts! Grocers is good too. Old Nun's Head is alright they have a Thai cook who is amazing. Where are you moving from? All the surrounding areas are great too! Lots in ED, Peckham Rye, Brockley etc. I love Broca food market in Brockley and Ganapti South Indian restaurant on Bellenden Road (in Peckham). Bar Story (nice cocktail place) under railway arches by Peckham Rye is another favourite! North Cross Road (off Lordship Lane) is nicer and quieter than LL with better shops and nice market at weekend. Welcome to the area as you can probably tell I love it!
  8. Whoops just realised it was for yesterday evening - maybe another time : )
  9. Not strictly ED or traditional curry house but we went to Ganapati (South Indian) on Bellenden Road on Friday. It was lovely and they managed to find us a table despite no booking.
  10. Oh no I am sorry to hear about your bike. Do you have insurance? You may be able to claim it on your home/contents insurance? If you do replace your bike you could maybe think about bike insurance. I didn't really know that there are specialist bike insurance companies until I was buying a new bike and the guys recommended it to me. It may be worth looking into. They did say though that it is important to buy a lock with a price approx. 10% of the cost of your bike as insurance companies won't pay out if it is a cheap lock. I know a little late but may be something to think about. Hope this is of help!
  11. The Broca Food Market in Brockley - 10 minute drive/30 min walk from ED - you said you wanted to explore : ) is great. It stocks lots of organic/wholefood stuff, fresh fruit/veg, fresh bread, farm shop meat/dairy produce and ethical cosmetics, cleaning products etc. It is quite a bit cheaper than ED prices too. Wellbeing in Sydenham is also a great wholefood store, again a bit cheaper than ED. The Nunhead cemetary is interesting - gothic/Victorian - good for walks.
  12. The Rivoli Ballroom in Crofton Park has a Jive night. It has a really good reputation and looks like a lot of fun! I think they have a website. I know it is not in ED but its a famous venue so may be worth a try!
