  1. Forgot to say that you could always try and switch to an earlier course if they have space? x
  2. Hi there, I'm not an expert by any means - I'm also expecting my first baby but have just signed up for NCT classes myself. I looked at both cource options (intensive and standard) and it looks like the intensive courses tend to run over 3 weeks, so you should be fine timing wise. If anything it may not leave you much time to buy any last minute new baby things that you may have forgotten about that the midwife may suggest during the course but I'm sure by then, you will have stocked up on all the essentials so I wouldnt worry yourself about it too much. I'd suggest you contacting your course leader and let her know what your concerns are. There's also lots of baby groups in the area that will give you loads of oppurtunities to meet mummies. I'm still researching them but happy to share the info once I've got my head round it all! Hope it goes all well for you Best wishes
  3. I got on the new 484 Wednesday evening and it was nice to see the new bus but felt horrible for the poor woman with the driver shutting the door virtually in her face, and drive off. Seems like the new buses come with at least one young-ish driver with a nasty attitude.
  4. I'm in the process of switching GP's - hopefully that doesn't matter when registering with a midwife. I'm going to try and get an a "booking appt" with Kings.... I've heard some mixed things about Kings, but generally reviews of the midwives have been really positive. I'll be packing my own food though! At this stage, I can't think of anything more scary than having a home birth even though the idea of being in a more familiar surrounding does seem appealing. The only thing that puts me off is that they can't adminsiter epidurals...that is big thing for me. Candj - thanks you so much for your kind offer!! That's so very sweet of you. A couple of very nice people have offered me their books so I might start with these and see how I get otherwise I may just get myself even more muddled up by reading too much...(if thats possible). x
  5. Thanks so much to everyone for your advice and most importantly, your support!! You're a brill bunch of people! I will check out the books recommended and also the websites. Pickle - That would be great if you dont mind me taking the book off your hands. I'll PM you for details? That's also been the confusing factor...the difference in healthcare provisions in the UK and back home so hopefully, the books will sort me out. Thanks again everyone x
  6. Hi there, Sorry if there are threads about this already, but I've just found out I'm pregnant and my partner and I have decided to continue with the pregnancy after much thinking and discussion. :) I'm excited but scared shitless, and have been reading various articles online but thought it be easier to buy a great new mommy book(s) that would tell me everything there is to know from pregnancy right through to birth and beyond. Does anyone have any recommendations?? Thanks!
