  1. Yea wasn't snow. Sounded like a big crash or explosion. I'm stumped. Anyone else hear it?
  2. Did anyone hear an unusual noise at around 230 this morning? It woke us up as it was unbelievably loud and couldn't place it. Sounded like an explosion or crash of some sort. Called the Southwark police but nothing was reported. Strange...
  3. I'm also still missing various pieces of mail that I know were sent to me but never arrived. I have complained to the post office but no result....
  4. Back door job. Tried to break in through the window by using a spade in the shed (which they also broke into). Police came round and were apparently successful in getting some fingerprints. Heard there were a few other attempts last night in the area.
  5. Just to let you all know that there was an attempted burglary on East Dulwich Road. Happened during the daytime, police are aware. They were unsuccessful but very ambitious so just keep your eyes peeled...
  6. Lastest Somerfield/Co-op update... could be another 2 years before we see a Co-op on Lordship Lane. From The Independent this morning: "Peter Marks, the chief executive of The Co-operative Group, has revealed that he plans to close Somerfield's head office in Bristol next year, putting hundreds of jobs at risk, and that it will take "at least two years" to convert more than 650 Somerfield stores to its own brand. Speaking for the first time about his plans after the Co-operative's ?1.57bn acquisition of Somerfield is completed next month, Mr Marks said that the UK's largest mutual retailer would run Somerfield as a "separate entity" for about 18 months while the integration of the two local grocery chains takes place."
  7. good point it's not the same without yank commentators. not that i watch what happens before or after the half-time entertainment...
  8. Hi all, any other Americans in ED know where I could watch the Superbowl locally? It doesn?t start until late next Sunday night (Feb 1) which makes me think I?d probably have to venture somewhere more central to find a place showing it. But would much rather stay local - especially since I only want to see the half-time show anyway!
  9. yep coop bought somerfield but they won't keep all the sites which means there's still hope for a waitrose! but hey i'll settle for a co-op over somerfield any day.
