  1. Made the same point on another thread - I fully agree. Time to get out and show some community spirit.
  2. I kind of agree with the sentiment but also agree it should be done in the right way. Perhaps we should show our support by filling the pubs and restaurants of ED tonight rather than staying hidden in our houses. Round here it seems events are isolated and opportunist - a few kids are not going to attack a full pub and or smash a shop with 100 people watching from the pub. While it was tense on Lordship Lane last evening it was re-assuring to see groups of residents and shop keepers gathering together....if we can keep that spirit up tonight we will best these thugs in te right way.
  3. Well I have only just recovered from the last one...perhaps another stab at it in the autumn to ward off the misery of the shorter evenings? For those who cannot wait that long I attach my handy "ED Pub Crawl Guide" in case you want to follow the now famous route. Seemed to go down well on the day - and yes, clearly I do have too much time on my hands :) I did have to delete the jpg pictures for each pub as well as it took it over 614KB which is the limit for files size on ED forum it seems. Quick caveat....for ED aficionados, I freely admit some of the facts in the attached document may not be 100% accurate.
  4. A sky blue VW camper van with vintage style number plates has been parked on Crawthew Grove for a day or so?
  5. Gowlett will take pride of place on the Peckham Rye pub crawl in the autumn! At 12 we had enough venues this time round.
  6. I will take note of the free Jaeger.... The Bish (personal ED favourite) is just a short stumble to home on Crawthew Grove in any event. I think The Bishop would have scored higher but the resident dog was a bit moody and not up for a stroke. I had banked on that to get the scores higher from the girls in the group. Good times though. A few weeks to get back into shape for the Barry Road race on the 23rd :)
  7. Vague impression based on your experience in the pub. Vale certainly benefited from people having had a fair bit to drink already! It was a very nice warm evening to sit in the garden out the back. Certainly not my first choice but there you go....the scores are the scores!
  8. Yesterday 8 intrepid drinkers completed the East Dulwich pub crawl (see my original post) - a fine time was had by all. Each crawler gave the venues a score out of 10 so I thought I would share the results with the forum. Some surprising results, not least The Vale coming in at second place. I suspect the Vale's scores were inflated by the fact it was the last venue of the night and the live band caused some excitement. The Clock House average score 8.6 out of 10 The Vale 8.3 The Bishop 7.8 The Plough 7.7 EDT 7.6 The Actress 7.4 The Magnolia 7.0 Adventure Bar and Lounge 6.6 CPT 6.1 Black Cherry 5.5 The Palmerston 5.5 The Castle 5.0 Steve
  9. I presume your dog was almost run over while on its short lead? (As the signs in the park clearly state is required). Perhaps the cyclist was riding cross country in the also clearly marked dog exercise areas. Why can't we all just get along.....
  10. When we moved house to ED earlier this year from West Hampstead (which is only a short drive from the end / start of the M1) we had to make two trips right through Central London on a Friday afternoon via the Park Lane route. It was actually quite quick and will be way better than trying to battle the M25 / North Circular so long as there are no accidents or road closures for any reason. It is also quite an easy route to navigate as well which will help hopefully.
  11. Genius - this sounds like my sort of event. I'm in. Best get training :)-D
  12. What's is the Barry Road Race? Sounds interesting.
  13. Alan - I guess you won't be accepting the invite to join us when it comes through? It is a lovely day to sample a few pubs today me thinks. Might try some of the Peckham pubs kindly suggested by many of the posters on this forum. First post on the ED forum and close to 2,000 views...a proud moment for this newbie.
  14. Early thirties rather that 20's sadly, but if enjoying a few drinks in the summer sunshine is childish then I don't want to grow up just yet thank you :)-D MP - good map btw.
  15. It is a marathon not a sprint Jeremy... With a bit of food en route and some fresh air between the venues I think 14 is possible - not easy, but possible. A few halves may be allowed in certain venues :) Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I am tempted to lose the bars and add a couple of the pubs up nearer Peckham Rye station.
  16. We have recently moved to ED and as is becoming tradition amongst my friends, we are arranging a pub crawl of our new local area to celebrate. Been enjoying doing my research over the last few weeks and I have put together the following proposed route (see Google Maps link): http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=212829290048979094436.00049c2b67f02105551f1 Would welcome any comments or suggestions on the route or venues that may have been overlooked. The route includes a few of the Lordship Lane bars rather than true pubs to keep the numbers up! Steve
