  1. Oh dear! I think the heat, the daylight doesn't help, certainly not with the older ones, my 3 year old has been waking up at 5 ish for a while now, in the winter I used to drag her out of bed cos she was making me late for work. I am cutting down the sugar, increasing activities, she goes to sleep at 8 and so does the baby. doesn't mean she doesn't walk down the stairs asking for the nappy to be put properly or some cream on her feet or something silly like that...but generally it does work Do not despair, it will get better, did you try homeopathy for the teething, it calms them down and soothes the pain
  2. My role is full time and it's not practical for the company to do that, I know that so I am not even asking, if there is a change or restructuring I may ask, otherwise just need to change I guess. Something with flexible hours where you can drop and pick up easily etc... if people do it again and again it's must be doable!
  3. We do, but it's 10 days I believe, and I have to go back full time. of course sometimes i wish i was out of the house, the house work drives me mad and unbelievably ungrateful, and i m not mentioning cooking dinner, paperwork, phone calls, gp's. still I don't miss work and want a much longer break, doesn't make any sense.. probably need a 4 days job by 2012 :) as a compromise!
  4. anyone on ML, knackered, overwhelmed and doesn't even imagine how getting back to work full time will be like?! sorry this is a little on the dull side!!!
  5. Another trick around running in the morning is carrying my 5 months old in the carrier and pushing the buggy with a 3year old up the hill...an excellent work out...however i always feel i need cappuccino and choc cake afterward...
  6. CP has trains to London Bridge, Victoria and the Ginger line, surely someone should think soon about the passengers around CP... a lot of them are parents with kids and some with disabilities, but my gut feel this may not be anytime soon, I did sign the petition though, you never know!
  7. You are right they have messed up and this is the reason why they are offering me the funding value as a credit for July, and some adjustments for the holidays so I don't lose completely. I can't imagine they would do that if it was my fault. I have contacted the council and will ask for more info
  8. well that's what the Finance dept of the nursery told me, and I linked it to the code of practice the bit about extended absence and thought that made sense...
  9. I think it should simply be an agreed rate per hour, plus contribution
  10. simple as that: do not take your child for longer than 2 weeks during the term. otherwise you lose your funding for that term. I wish I had known but please note for your own reference!
  11. Yes I did sign it early April, just after she turned 3. now they just said sorry when LA came to do the headcount they found out she was absent, and they withdrew the funding! hard to believe especially I did ask the nursery prior to going away if it was ok. I never thought by paying they could stop the funding. I did ask for their contact but they are being very evasive and answering one thing at the time!
  12. The nursery has just sent me a very casual email: sorry you have unfortunately lost the funding!!!! unbelievable! I contacted the MP. Hopefully something can be done... surely it has to be written in big red letters, do not take your kid on holiday for longer than x days during the term...or maybe simply, nursery managers should know just a tiny bit what their job is about other than ripping parents off sorry but I am mad right now (6)
  13. no she is 5 months in a couple of days
  14. I started slowly weaning her yesterday and she was chewing away, she seems ready for it but I am reluctant to try anything that may cause a reaction before I get the results hopefully soon. she is so hungry I can tell, and although I am eating very well :) she is not satisfied with my milk only. anyway, I may resort to private doctors if insurance covers some of the cost, it must be really expensive.
  15. I sympathise as I had the same with my daughter, although she was breastfed only, it is an evening thing as that's when their digestive system gets tired and all the winds become painful, I found Gripe Water a bit more useful than Infacol, you can start it as it's for 1month plus. but equally try putting a blanket under the mattress so he doesn't lie horizontally, helps with reflux good luck
  16. Hot showers are soothing too, for me it wrks as the excess milk comes out just by pressing the breast hope you get better quickly
  17. I spent the day between GP and Kings yesterday, luckily and after much insisting on the pediatrician, we managed to get blood samples taken and the tests will be carried out. they could not tell me when the results will be ready but at least we just have to wait and see now, Hopefully not too long before I know the results. thanks for all the tips!
  18. thanks, I think I need a gp referral to be able to get the insurance to cover the cost, or some of it. but if it's not too expensive I guess I could just go myself. The gp said she's trying to find something but King's is definitely a month's wait. they now have that choose and book system too, but I tried that with my other daughter (pneumonia follow up) and it was 5 weeks wait to go to an other hospital in tooting....
  19. Update: I saw the GP this morning and she is arranging a referral, but the soonest appointment is in a month!!!! I cannot believe a simple test cannot be arranged quicker or even to be done in the surgery they have simple patches to stick on the back these days, a month for a 4/5 month old is like 25% of your lifetime just waiting to get some food...am I being a difficult customer to the very efficient NHS. How do private referrals work? Any advice?
  20. I just did...exactly how i feel...super angry at everyone and everything :) somehow I am glad I am not alone
  21. I feel terrible about it and know that bf is great and I won't be having more kids so my last chance to enjoy it... however, I find myself so irritable when she demands breast too often and would not let go in the middle of the night, I want to snatch my nipple out of her mouth with rage!!! does this sound crazy!!!?? so I am thinking for my own sanity, it's best to combine and stop completely when we are both ready...hopefully I am not just being a terrible mum I am also thinking of sorting few things out and returning to work soon, so need my independence and hers rather soon I think the fact she is allergic to formula puts even more pressure on me and I feel I have no other option but bf...which is not helping enough whinging now
  22. Oops, I had forgotten, left dad wake up early with our older one, and I took a little nap in the morning. No card, no present...we'll do something nice for lunch if it's not pouring down with rain Happy fathers day!
  23. I did try with a spoon to eliminate the latex allergy hypothesis and she reacted to that too, even with just a drop of milk on her face and lips, but I called a pediatrician in France and she said, do NOT ever try again, having a mild reaction doesn't mean she is not allergic and she could have a serious reaction later, some family members said with a serious reaction she would not even make it to A&E!!! I panicked so much I went to wake her up and check she was alright!!!! I cannot believe the GP (with advice from the pediatrician) asked me to try again...anyway, I am seeing the GP again on Tuesday and will insist on getting tests done. I didn't know you could get hypoallergenic milk without prescription, I may resort to that if my patience with bf runs out
  24. I was frustrated to hear the GP suggesting I carry on bf, as much as I believe it is good, being forced to do it just drives me crazy!!! After some negotiations she suggested to give my daughter more milk and go back if she has a reaction, I may be referred for tests. only if there is an evidence of allergies I will have a prescription for an suitable milk I think... they even advised to wean her early...i think all options will be explored before I get a prescription.
  25. I am using Aptamil but will try Hipps..thanks for the tip, i didn't know they were similar
