However, there are many who don't share your view. People attach different meanings and values to things in life. Why do you feel the need to politicise? And how on earth can you possibly know that this forum is comprised of members that are "predomi[nantly] middle class"? I, for one, had never heard of Karl Largerfeld until today and my total wedding bill was ?30 (including bus fare). > Also to be fair, the poster didn't say she got a > discount. She said it cost nearly 5k, to make some > kind of point. The vast majority of weddings > around the world have no need of expensive > designer gowns. It a consumer con that some people > are daft enough to be sucked into. So what that the poster didn't mention the discount? Why do you say that s/he was making "some kind of point"; that is your psychological projection. And even if s/he were, so what? As for this "consumer con" that "some people are daft enough to be sucked into", well, so what? I experience you as judgemental, but so bloomin what!
  2. Ahahaha Quidsey...you may have a point...those plasterers's "bonding" fumes...woooooooooo... (Glad to see you are still about). :))
  3. That's a bit harsh on pondlife! :))
  4. ...and, as usual, I allowed myself to get "hooked". And I have enjoyed every second. I'd like to think that this is completely "normal" behaviour - whatever that is.
  5. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Thank you for my daily laugh for today, RD. (tu)
  6. Haha.. Thanks for that, ruffers. (tu)

If you are referring to NewWave's post, I don't find any irony at all. And I don't hear Newwave "accusing others of not being charitable enough" either. What I do hear is Newwave's pain: as s/he says "This is a cause that [means] a lot to me so apologies if I've gone off on one!". You, on the other hand, I am experiencing as bitter. Do you have an issue with someone spending nearly 5k on a wedding gown?

  9. TOTL TOTL TOT TOT TOTL :))
  10. I've no idea, Mako. But he looks about 12!

  12. Oooops...forgot to attach: http://www.brixtonbuzz.com/2015/09/dulwich-hamlet-look-pretty-in-pink-as-they-dish-out-a-met-police-thumping/
  13. Never mind all of this football talk...just look at how pretty they all look in more pink than usual! :))
  14. Not neccessarily 5-a-side but sometimes is, and there are some not so fit and at least one over 50! http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?6,756381,page=1
  15. You are a cheeky buggar with knobs on! You wait till I see you! >:D
  16. IATM/Sue, I LOVE PGC's link and the idea of making my own chalk paint though am a bit nervous about how quickly it apparently dries, and I now have in my head this picture of ending up with some sort of plaster-cast on my hand! Might try it for something small like my kitchen-towel-holder just to satisfy my curiosity. But for the larger stuff, I shall probably go for eggshell as suggested by Pocket. I'll let you know the outcome, seeing as you have expressed interest. And BTW I agree that AS paints ARE hard work to use and the idea of waxing puts me off. However, I did use it for a terracotta plant pot, Sue, without waxing and the effect was good. Incidentally, I enjoyed the micro-dialogue between Azalea and Ladygooner. Made me smile.
  17. My friend pixysunflower just alerted me to this thread. DHFC astro costs ?35 an hour, which is cheaper than most other astros for hire. PS: @ what time do you play on a Sat. (and now I'm intrigued as to whether I know any of you). :))
  18. I really appreciate your responses. Thank you. (tu)
  19. Hello! I want to "whitewash" an old table in an attempt to brighten it up/modernise it. I would welcome any advice, but having watched - goodness knows - how many youtube videos it seems that all I have to do is lightly sand down, paint and partially wipe off "excess". Question: can I use "ordinary" indoor emulsion to do this or do I need to buy (expensive) "special" paint as some of the videos seem to imply. Also, this may sound like a bit of a silly question: presumably I don't necessarily need to use "white" in order to achieve the desired "washed" effect? Thank you.

  21. Oh dear...you are not wrong numbers. I've just realised...I got the wrong end of the stick (again). :-$ But, for the record, I CAN blink with both eyes at once AND can wink with either eye (not all at once!). I also make excellent pig noises in case you wondered. :)) .
  22. Well I have learnt something today because I thought that a "wink" was only a "wink" when executed with ONE eye. I can blink...I mean...wink with both eyes. I write with right hand, pluck eyebrows with right hand, saw branches with both right and left arm and play football with left and right foot.
  23. Or there is the Camber TC on Dulwich Common. Edited because I've just seen Sue's post. And again because of a typo. :-$
