  1. From DHFC's FB page: "BREAKING: The Southwark Council cabinet has voted unanimously to release funds to attempt to acquire Champion Hill to provide social housing for the borough, and safeguard the future of @DulwichHamletFC. We urge Meadow to enter negotiations swiftly so we can return home. Note: Social Housing would be provided on the current site of the ?car wash? car park, and the stadium would be protected from any future housing development. "
  2. Now in the Law Society Gazette (thanks for the tip - Bookworm)... https://www.lawgazette.co.uk/law/firm-in-trade-mark-row-with-embattled-football-club/5065125.article
  3. Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment/give advice. A mirror in the kitchen no long feels "weird" and I have made a decision...I am going to get one! Sue, don't worry about "deviating", I have learnt so much about mirrors, glass, splashbacks etc...
  4. No - I'm talking about a "normal/standard" mirror which you might consider placing anywhere else in the house. Sorry for not making this clear at the beginning...crikey, I never knew about all these different types of mirrors/glass until I started this thread. :-$ Perhaps I need to "google" more...
  5. I completely agree with all the positive comments on this thread. I also agree that Brian's company is not cheap. However, we wanted a job which meant we didn't have to redecorate for at least another 7/8 years. In our first dealing with Brian, I could not help but smile - we experienced him as charming, easy to deal with and confident about what he could deliver. I told him "Brian, you realise you are setting yourself up for a fall...my expectations are high...I can only be disappointed". Unperturbed, Brian responded with "it will be fantastic", to which I replied "I have high standards...I don't like this...I don't like that...I am fussy...". Brian continued: "it will be crisp...the finish will be smooth...it will look like Buckingham Palace" (yes really!). I thought, this guy, whilst remaining courteous at all times, speaks with conviction and so we decided to give him and his team the job. If I am 100% honest, I was kinda hoping he might have a minor slip-up somewhere so that I could have a bit of banter with him about not being quite so "crisp", or "smooth" or "fantastic" - never mind palatial. But FECK ME, Brian has delivered! Thank you Brian, you talked the talk and you walked the walk. Hats off to you and your workers - especially Malaki who worked long and hard. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending you and your company.
  6. WOW EDFers...I am touched that so many of you have responded! Thank you so much. You have made me think...the exact position of this potential mirror would actually be in the dining section of the kitchen (so not near the hob, Sue). Dulwich Fox, it never occurred to me to google "mirrors in kitchen". Spring Time, I am thinking of quite a large mirror. Does having this additional information make a difference to your opinions/advice etc.? It's a small kitchen/dining area (one of those new-builds of around 22 years' ago). Once again, thank you all very much...and keep those comments coming please...I promise to take every one into account. (tu)
  7. OK EDFers...this may seem really mundane...but...what do people think about putting a mirror on a KITCHEN wall? I.e. is that a bit weird or... I am being serious and would really appreciate advice/comments/feedback etc. Thanking you in advance.

  9. Just to throw in some good news...the Pink and Blues are TOTL! Personally, I am amazed, given the enormous stress they must be under.

  11. Contemptible, underhanded and cuntish. Surprised "Pink and Blues" isn't on that list. FFS.
  12. Thanks BNG...posted and shared the FB link...
  13. It feels grim and uninviting...especially with the rushed black-painted hoarding.
  14. ...so if you've 3 grumpy kids, a heavy buggy, tons of shopping, have trouble walking up hill to the next stop which is some distance, or are just generally feeling knackered...then turn back towards the bus stop opposite Kings.
  15. Sue, I use soda crystals.
  16. WTF?! http://www.brixtonbuzz.com/2017/12/meadow-residential-developers-threaten-to-lock-out-dulwich-hamlet-before-foodbank-donation-match/#more-105142
  17. The Spin Dr. is most definitely back. Competent, efficient and very honest/reasonably priced. Thank you Steve.
  18. I sung the praises of the Hunter brothers/Hunter Heating Solutions about a year ago. Billy recently returned to do some more work and I really cannot recommend him enough. Billy, I KNOW you read the forum...so thank you so much for the work that you do, your humour, your fabulous attitude, and - this time - for going above and beyond (Billy did an extra job which really wasn't within his remit at all). (tu)

  20. Having just got to grips with making up some business cards on Vista Print, I now wish to create an A3 poster (must be A3). VP provides for this, only the minimum purchase is 25 and I only want one. I am not very tekky minded (and struggled enormously with the business cards!) so, any advice suitable for a newbie with regard to such things, I would greatly appreciate. Thank you.

  22. Does anyone know please whether Tom King is still going? I've rung his number ending...859 several times and left a message...but nowt. He has so many recommendations, I'd like to use him. Thank you.
