Save TigerSharks Swim Club at Alleyns
buntytrumpet replied to Abba's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It just seems like a school that wants to invest in the local community would support long established club that is helping multiple generations, rather than close it in order to start something new. Looking at the approaches of different headteachers, research does show you can see trends or styles of headship. Maybe current head isn't looking to get recognised for the long term community investment. Which isn't necessarily surprising given what sort of headteacher gets recognition by current system. This is a shame for the local people, but this may not be something that will affect the head/school leadership. -
Save TigerSharks Swim Club at Alleyns
buntytrumpet replied to Abba's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
My young family and I have been able to swim together for years because of this amazing club. Absolutely gutted to hear that the decision was made with no consultation or transparency. I hope they are decent enough to reconsider. -

I can also recommend Phillip Quinn as professional, highly skilled and very pleasant to have working in ones home. He has done fitted wardrobes, decking, cupboards, flooring, ceilings, walls and our loft. If you'd like to see pics or have further questions happy for you to message me.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
buntytrumpet replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi James, Are you allowed to keep crowing cockerels in the Peckham Rye area? I know people like to call Bellenden Road and the surrounding areas a village, does this affect laws on keeping livestock? There is a cockerel somewhere nearby that crows for up to an hour every morning. Are you familiar with the case of Terence in Greenwich, I have attached a photo of him. Thanks -
Hi, Anyone know anywhere good to pick some holly to decorate my lounge? Cheers

Howling Dog Choumert Road / Danby Street
buntytrumpet replied to buntytrumpet's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
apologies, by fine I meant i didn't think the dog was "poorly mistreated/starved/dying etc". I suppose I didn't consider it was psychologically poorly. my appeal on here was for any clues of where the dog owners might live. i can not see it anywhere, and as you say the noise carries a lot, so is hard to place. any further info would be appreciated, if only for the dog's sanity (rather than my own). -
Howling Dog Choumert Road / Danby Street

I am sure it is fine, it is just making a lot of noise! -
Hi, For the last week or so there has been a dog howling in one of the gardens in this area. It did not happen at the weekend, starts about 7.15am and goes on for a few hours sometimes. Does anyone know who owns it? I asume it's someone shutting it outside and going off to work as it is very loud. The council advise having a quiet word with the owner. Before I traverse the fences to find it I thought I'd ask on here if anyone has any further information. Thanks

police were called as we heard someone in the garden climbing over sheds at 4am this morning. Police didn't catch anyone but lots of sheds have been tried and doors left open. Next door says nothing was taken form his but worth people getting locks for their sheds as I have heard that burglars often use tools from your own shed to brake in!

Increase in Aircraft Noise
buntytrumpet replied to david_on_grove's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
seems to have been loads more planes than usual yesterday and today. or is it because i've been lunging around in bed past 5am? -
Hello, Is anyone able to receive digital HD with a normal aerial in this area? I'm reluctant to start trying to sort mine out until the big switchover in April but wondered what I should expect to receive at the current time... Thanks.

after various trips and routes i reckon cycling to paddington then the train is the best option they've also banned consumption of alcohol on the rattler in recent years, which has really dented the mood on the upper deck in my opinion. this was a draconian knee jerk reaction to all the stories in the press about the darker areas of the bus being used by sex workers to solicit.

it's so you can work out with no shirt on

Do you not plan escape routes from your house in case of bomb scare?
-
Is it easy to get into this row of gardens then? Always thought it looked quite tricky from google earth, streetview etc.

Did you see him? Did they catch him? Was he a him, or a her or a them?

Saw this on the Greenwich Council Twitter. Does anyone know of similar plans for East Dulwich/Peckham Rye etc. Of course will all be dependent on the ELL extension....

Is dogshit the sign of a safe thoroughfare? Suppose it implies regular traffic. -

oh good news. i removed my flasher comment as i realised this may have been facetious or seeming to poke fun at a serious crime. sorry to have caused offence. i was pleasantly surprised by the lighting. thank you for the vote of confidence ironjaw. BT -
Hi, I'm moving to the area and am considering my different commuting routes. I've traversed the bridge mentioned above after dark only once and didn't spot anyone hanging around. It is well lit and the area seems to be very safe. Does anyone use this route late at night? I am a sensible person and understand the fallibility of anecdotal versus actuarial evidence on risk, but would just feel a lot safer if i knew there were lots of people using this thoroughfare without issue already. Thanks all, BT
