Any ideas of any bulge classes in Lewisham? -
One Tree hill in Honor Oak

Yes, I was also going to suggest air bnb. Brilliant idea and you're bound to find one close by. We are using it for the second time now after really good experiences first time round.

Best taps and toilet for family bathroom
vez replied to LV0210's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We got Grohe taps when we did our bathroom and we got mixed reviews. They are generally good quality and not extortionate. But we don't have great water pressure so the bath filler produced a really soft flow which is not great if you want bubbles! But we are very happy with our grohe basin mixer tap and the thermostatic shower. we bought them all on amazon. -
We stayed at the Olde House in Cornwall last year. Stone cottages on a working farm. Indoor swimming pool, play barn and play ground. It's located near Padstow near some great beaches. Brilliant for families..

Got one for baby number 2 and it's been used daily since the day we got out of hospital! Cannot recommend it highly enough. Bought ours second hand off someone on the EDF - great quality like new!

What is the traffic through FH like in the morning now that you cannot drive up one tree hill? I have an appointment in Brixton around 10 and trying to gauge how long it will take me...

I also just heard about Langbourne totally being turned around with new head. People are now considering it who wouldn't have in the past. Tiny class sizes, motivated teachers etc. The area around has good housing and your husband could take a direct bus to Kings (not sure about trains there may even be a better route).

Have a look at Honor Oak too! It's in the Forest Hill post code and your husband can catch a train straight into Denmark Hill from Crofton Park. Car journey roughly 20 minutes. Honor Oak has lots of families and decent primary schools like Dalmain, Stillness, Fairlawn. Decent houses too. Green spaces like Horniman Gardens, One Tree Hill, Blythe Hill etc. high street recently got a Sainsburys too.

We are interested in getting some opinions from families who have kids at Judith Kerr school. We do not live in the catchment area but wanted to know if it's worthwhile the schlepp every morning, apparently there is a remote chance to get in via a lottery system? We have a nice school down the road but need to decide which school to put first. We went to their open day which was interesting but in the end you only get a very brief snapshot of life at a school. Cheers!

I have always wondered what actually is a white noise machine?? Can you buy them? Or is it a phone app? Quite keen to get this mysterious miraculous thing for Number 2 due in January...

Toddlers Haircut - ED recommendations?
vez replied to frankie77's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, we always go to Little Clippers on North Cross Road. One of their 'chairs' is a car and they also have little video screens showing cartoons. A simple cut of my 3 year old's hair was 9 pounds if I remember correctly. -

I am over 29 weeks and have not really been wearing the badge at all. If I cannot find a seat on the train I go straight up to the priority seats and ask the person sitting in it if they need the priority seat and if they didn't mind giving it up. So far it has worked everytime, my bump has been very obvious for a number of weeks. I prefer this to being passive and just hoping that someone will notice the bump or badge (this is what I used to do and once at 26 weeks had to stand for the entire journey and got very very faint), I'd rather make sure I get a seat when I know that I need it!

sleep trainers/consultants - do they work?
vez replied to etta166's topic in The Family Room Discussion
What do the sleep trainers actually do? Etta, 4 months is a typical time for sleep regression as babies usually go through a growth spurt. You may want to google 4 months sleep regression for more explanations. It's very normal. -
I did it 3.5 years ago. I seem to remember that it was a very long session with the main takeaway (for me) to convince people of the benefits of breastfeeding - they were preaching to the converted in me! The thing is when you are still pregnant the practicalities are difficult to teach as it is all really theoretical and hard to relate to without your own baby in arms. I would still recommend to go though, you probably do pick up the odd thing. My main recommendation is to have numbers of really good breast feeding councillors handy for after birth just in case you have difficulties breast feeding. Unfortunately I did not get much practical help by the Kings midwives and after a difficult week of trying to feed I called an excellent NCT councillor who helped us so much by finding the correct positioning with my son that we carried on breastfeeding until he was nearly 17 months!

Hi, we are currently waiting for our SALT referral for our 3 year old son. We have been told that waiting times are long so we are keen to go down the private route. Can anyone recommend a speech therapist in the ED area? Thanks!

Hello, would also like to join this thread! Due with my second on 17th January! Not planning to sign up to NCT classes this time, but did it first time around and really enjoyed the classes. Quite interested in hypnobirthing as I love the concept! But price of the class is putting me off (we are renovating at the moment so all spare cash goes into the house) and not sure when hubby and I would be able to join the classes together as we have no babysitter for our 3 year old... But would be lovely to keep up with all of you and share experiences.. We are also in SE23. -
Stillness School - anyone have any opinions?
vez replied to BeadyBoo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We went along to the summer fete and there were a lot of very nice families there. Very promising!
