  1. Take a couple of Sudafeds.
  2. The Foresters really was grim.

    PIZZA

Pizzeria Castello was great. So busy and fun.

    PIZZA

Il Mirto, Gowlett, Franco Manca, Sodo. I like 'em all in different ways. FM might be edging it for me at the moment (cheapest, I like chewy, good ingredients, nice atmosphere and staff).

Gentrification must have started then.
  6. I used to like the Heber Arms. One of the sad things about my return to ED was finding in closed.
  7. Another thumbs up for the Ivy House and the Great Exhibition. Both examples of really good neighborhood pubs.
  8. Says something like Temporarily closed due to unforeseen circumstances. What it probably should read is 'Permanently closed due to foreseen circumstances'.
  9. Not sure what the topic of this thread is anymore. But I don't think people really ever used to eat out 4-5 times a week. We certainly never did. I took my son to Franco Manca last night. I thought it was great. Really delicious pizza, good ingredients and the bill for two of us (inc a beer for me was ?17). I think that's great value and we'll go back. My advice to B&S would be to do a couple of really good, simple kids choices for about ?5-6 and the punters will flood in for the early sittings and weekends. I'm sure it'll be a success, the menu looks fab.
  10. I've gone in there off my face after an afternoon on the juice and always walk away satisfied. High praise indeed.
  11. Black cab. If you book one they'll bung a bit of ribbon on.

Anyway, a quick look at the Gaucho website shows you can get 3 courses for ?26 which is hardly high end.
  13. So, another thread has dissolved into the old class war debate.'Gaurianista, blah blah, Chelsea, blah blah, snobs, blah blah' zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I miss the old fashioned steak house. I remember Never on Sunday but never went. There was one in Camberwell we used occasionally the name of which escapes me. I guess Gaucho is the nearest to it these days.. without the red velvet opulence of the 1970s.

  15. I was only saying to my son the other day (as we looked at the B&S building site) that we're lucky to live somewhere where new shops and businesses are opening.
  16. I like Semas. I'm also looking forward to some B&S pasta. Good luck to all our gallant traders old and new (except Le Chandelier).

  19. Rye bread with cheddar cooked util bubbling and just starting to brown. Twist of black pepper and a dusting of paprika. Unfortunately as I'm currently on a low sats diet this pleasure is denied. However, mashed avocado on toast is proving to be a good alternative.
  20. Three of my favourite things: http://www.johnlobb.com/uk/models https://www.naimaudio.com/products http://www.merciancycles.co.uk/
  21. I quite like it also.
