Did you put it in the Wheelie Bin?

Berlin is incredible; I suggest hiring some of those little electric scooters to zoom around the parks, the big avenues and round the brandenburg gate. They are really cheap and the most fun I've had ever. (not really but up there) Also you should go to a restaraunt called "The Bird" and try some Napalm Chicken wings.

Do you ask for seat on train/bus?
paragon replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Assertiveness works both way. As shown on this thread there is several women who wouldn't feel confident enough to ask for a seat when it would benefit them. there is going to be 3/4/5 times as many non-pregnant people who don't feel assertive in offering a seat. especially when going to work in the morning. if someone was standing close to me I would offer them a seat, but i wouldn't shout down a bus to a pregnant lady offering my seat to her if she was 10m away. I don't offer my seat to elderly men unless they look frail or struggling as I woould worry about offending them. "I've survived the Blitz young man, I can certainly stand on a bus" -
Bought Red Dead Redemption. Never really got into any open story games like GTA or Zelda before and always thought I was missing out on something. Played it for 5 hours or so and I still don't think it is a genre I'll ever go nuts for. The game is really impressive and the scale of it is mental, loads to do and side missions and storylines all over the place. Quite like the hunting and scavaging aspects but it is ultimately unrewarding as it just seems to plod on. Going to perservere and give some serious hours to it to see if it changes my view. I just like games with distinct levels, or missions and I don't like find from a 3rd person perspective. THe most enjoyment I have had so far is killing Marshalls and seeing how long I can stay alive, a bit like the odd foray into GTA and trying to get the SWAT guys out (i think SWAT can't even remember now!)

Late night licensing on Lordship Lane

This is utter bollox. I agree with some of your earlier points and no-one should have to be woken up all weekend by drunks. But to say you can't find someone to eat at all on the lane that isn't full of offensive drunks is ridiculous. If when you say Peaceful you mean Empty then you won't really find anywhere. Although if it wasn't busy then you wouldn't find some many different places to eat! -
someone has a spiderman bouncy castle in their back-garden on CPR. Looks incredible, nearly knocked on for a go.

someone hacked down the bush on CP road. Half a job but you only have to swerve slightly to get round. Pretty confident it was the power of the EDF

Prep/junior school options for boys - some questions

Prep/junior school options for boys - some questions

I agree it is probably a matter of opinion. I think there was an article in Freakeconomics about it which had some data to back it up - i'll try and find a link. Neither of my parents went to Uni, but I did. Although my Dad has managed to squeeze into the middle classes after being the son of carpet weavers in Kiddiminster. But i still think on balance that when parents go to Uni the kids are likely to go to Uni. And things like which Primary or Secondary School they go to won't make a material difference. I know that there is lost of angst amongst parents in this area, i guess i trying to temper it a bit. -

Slightly off topic, but your own education and your own jobs will have more bearing on what your children end up doing than which school they go to. -
tis a wind-up. look at his posting history.

Defo don't get a bird. Everyone who does is gutted five or six years later. There is always someone better than you who loves doing group cooking. Most meals will be crap or booze or both. Remind him that everyone is the same boat (apart from the group of school mates who plan to go to the same Uni, I hate that) My only serious advice would be around budgeting. I spanked all my loan pretty quickly and was always hand to mouth or doing odd jobs, or begging. So if he/she isn't used to being in control of cash, some advice might be worthwhile. Other than that, don't be Ronnie "No" Johnson, don't eat Yellow Snow and make sure whatever you get up to that you ultimately come out with a degree and a great group of mates.

Someone should agree a code. Could be a like a little green sticker on shoulder or something like that. No-one not in the know will wear one and if you see someone with one on then you go up to them and say "Paragon, I presume" If you are wrong their response is "You must be mistaken" and you part company without another word spoken. If you correct then the response should be "Pleasure to make your acquaintance" and then you walk off without another word said (or reveal yourself) -

Police damaged property and refuse to pay for repairs

And that is wrong. Fair enough, i thought you meant that you wouldn't assist the police in anyway at all again. If what your family are asserting is true (the policeman forgot to do a damaged property report and then lied) I would suggest that it is the policeman who is at fault not the pen-pusher. -

I have always > been a big supporter of the police (my family is > littered with serving and retired Met police > officers) but my attitude has now changed and they > can no longer count on my, or my neighbour's, > support. Just read through this thread. To start with I agreed with you, i would be annoyed if this happened to me and would have expected some kind of recompense. I probably would have accepted 50% but that's just because i doubt i would be bothered about taking it further. However to say that you don't plan on supporting the police moving forward because of this incident seems petty and over the top. If a Copper knocks on your door asking if you have seen anyone suspicious in the area are you going to slam the door in his face because of your fence panel? Considering your family is littered with Plod it seem bizarre that you don't have any perspective on this incident. -

very early days. I don't think you can tell much from that performance. As all the papers are saying Italy drew 1-1 with the US in WC 2006 group stages. We need to win our next two games to avoid the Germans. I thought Heskey did quite well. Concern is Carragher, he looked unfit and out of his depth. Should have stuck to his guns and retired. Algeria and Slovenia looked dreadful in their game. Do you not think when watching the games that no shots seem to be going on target from range. Most free-kicks have gone well over the ball does seem to slice or balloon very regularly. Maybe i am just looking out for it.
