  1. Anyone seen "Any Human Heart"? Really enjoying it - tis on 40D
  2. I don't think it is fair. It isn't your fault you can't get in. Why should eat into your own holiday because of it.
  3. City thameslink is rammed. not letting anyone on. I've heard no trains going southbound from either LDN Bridge or City Thameslink.
  4. Keef - I have a PS3 copy of Red Dead Redemption which I can loan or swap for something else. I didn't like it, but then I have never got into any RPG - Zelda, GTA, Red Dead I've tried quite a few. As for black ops there is sooo much variety playing online. The stealth and tension in a search and destroy map is a vastly different experience to a free-for-all on a small map. I've even got the Wife playing split screen zombies.
  5. Last time I was in there on a Saturday people were skinny dippy and carry on a la the swimming pool scene in Wild Things. Not sure how family friendly that is!
  6. Black Ops is really very good indeed. Have played the single player bit yet but online is brilliant. Still don't understand how people are level 40 already. they must play it constantly.
  7. any got black ops? came back from working abroad last night and had a quick couple of games. too early to give feedback
  8. inbetweeners has finished now so only things i watch religiously is university challenge and spooks.
  9. just out of interest. why do you want to do that? when you can watch on iplayer anyway? in case you don't have time before it comes of?
  10. Went to Halifax vs Mansfield Town on the weekend. Belter of a game. Same Deano didn't turn up.
  11. Defo do whatever you want; short notice wedding might mean some people can't come but all the most important people will make it there one way or another be it sickie, babysitters etc etc. You don't list the details of your row with you best mate but I do know that sometimes it can be a very emotional time and your friend might have thought she was trying to help and it spiralled out of control. We considered having our reception upstairs in the EDT (The lodge). I thought it was a really cool space and would make a great cheap reception pleace.
  12. I think it is a disgrace that EMA is being cut. EMA is there to encourage, or make possible, young children from low income families (?20,817 for the highest award) to stay longer in school. I think the attitude of "if they really want to stay in School then they should get a job on Saturday" is stupid and naive. A lot of children that qualify for EMA will come from families with parents that left school at 16 those situations don't inspire all children to push themselves to gain further qualifications. If EMA helps 100 or even 1000 children break the cycle of leaving school as soon as possible then I think it is positive thing. As I have said previously on here I think how likely you are to gain A-Levels or a Degree is positively correlated to how likely your parents did. So anything that breaks supports breaking thay cycle is positive in my book as I believe education is a positive thing. *Just a quick caveat to say that clearly not all EMA kids have parents that are unemployed or left school at 16 and that is not what I am trying to say.
  13. i've used a similar tactic before...put some rumours out there that you are looking around or interviewing and then use it to your advantage in a pay-review. This is his job and he wants as much cash as he can get out of it....if that's the way to do it then fair play. Funnily enough Mourinho called it.
  14. Could it have something to do with this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-11419498
  15. Count me in. I'll provide the Roast Beef canapes
  16. Not sure what I think on patriotism. I am not particularly bothered about being British or English. I have more affinity with the places within England that I have lived than England as a whole. I think it is interesting that England had such an important part to play in world history but that is because I am interested in History generally. Personally I think the concept of country will be eroded in the same way that the importance of counties and county identity have been eroded over the centuries. I think it will be a progression to the United States of Europe and common leadership. And then, when eventually they find life further afield our affinity will be with Earth and the differences between Islam and Christianity and Atheists will be the same as the differences between Englishmen and Welshmen. Sounds slightly different but are essentially the same. So, to sum, patriotism is pointless and time-limited. (Although the time-span will be quite long!)

Massively - I am sure I have waxed lyrical about Deus Ex before on this thread. I am not sure I'll like it on a console so much but I will purchase this the minute it hit. COD to come first though from the other studio so might not be great. Anyone want to swap Red Dead Redemption on the PS3 for anything?

Try Youth in Revolt, most would say it is Juno's weaker younger brother and Cera is typecasting himself playing too many of these kind of parts. But I really enjoyed it.

I think you have to be in a certain frame of mind to watch that kind of film...but I was just quite bored for the first hour or so. It is powerful and you almost feel like you are living in the mountains but i thought it dragged a bit. I think the performances from the Girl and Teardrop are fantastic though. Other movies I have watched recently; 500 Days of Summer - better than your average RomCom but still not great Unthinkable - Samuel L Jackson, straight to DVD thriller (as studio went bust) turning into a bit of a culty hit as it wasn't promoted at all. Plot is full of holes but there are some genuine shock moments and it goes along at a pace. Girl with the Dragon tattoo - Personally though it was the best film I have seen in a year or so. (I haven't read the books) so the twists and turns were really interesting. The Prophet - French movie about a kid in Prison - standard prison fair but much more powerful than recent ones I have seen.

I am sure this does happens. But there are also people who will rob you in the street, on the tube, in Bars and Cafes and you wouldn't stop leaving the house. I would imagine there are many more robberies in that mould than house breaking when people are in. I just don't think there is any need for people to train their children not to answer the door, or instil fear in them about people who knock on.
  21. Yes kids, don't answer the door. Why Daddy IN CASE PAEDOPHILES ARE KNOCKING ON. Perspective please, your kids aren't going to change your gas provider or buy a cloth from the wierd guy who sells them. Your kids should see how to deal with situations in a calm but assured manner so they don't end up cowering in their house when the doorbell rings.
  22. I asked my brother (the only veggie) what he wanted to eat at the wedding breakfast of my recent nuptuals. His response was - the normal will be fine - just swerve the bacon and make sure there are some veggie sausages knocking around.
  23. Latest guilty pleasure - a fry up in the Uplands Cafe. It is actually rwally nice - good sausage, hot toast, really good Hash Browns and it only sets you back about 5/6 quid for a full English. Also Four Weddings US, i don't know why I like it but i do.

The pay-off is lack of continuity. I potentially like the new character (Beth) but just don't care about Harry and Ruth.
  25. He's clearly got issues, but he didn't really need much convincing if you see the video. I think he was making a point that there should be more reward for things like.
