  1. Guessing one of the private schools. My cat is terrified
  2. I get the 40 to and from work. I normally leave the house around 5am. I have been known to get the first 40 of the day, which if anyone is interested is 3:15am. People get on at most of the stops. It?s mostly cleaners, coffee shop workers etc. I?m going to switch to cycling. How safe that will be at 5am I will find out next week......
  3. I miss Concorde too, the noise doesn?t bother us either. The flight path was there 25 years ago when we moved in. I used to live in East Anglia and the RAF supply plans flying over and so low you couks see the pilot was a lot louder. Where ever you are in the city you are going to be close to a flight path. I?m guessing you don?t mind when you fly away on holiday or for business.
  4. parkrun is always looking for volunteers and supports the Duke of Edinburgh awards. They have had Duke of Edinburgh volunteers before
  5. Van Parked blocking the Road, police including dogs out. 3 cars damaged that I can see.
  6. We are one of these people with a dropped curb driveway. It was done before we moved in, It was one of the reasons that we brought the house. As for taking away parking spaces I am happy for somebody to put it back to a front garden, then we would be taking up 3 parking spaces on the road....instead of the one we take up ( two cars and a motorbike)Also both working full time leaving early and getting home late I struggle to keep the back garden in a reasonable state. I'm guessing an unkept front garden would be an improvement to the road? And the person who put the snotty note through my front door a few years ago, SIGN YOU NAME if you would like to complain. We had lived in the same house for 20 years before somebody starts insinuating that we a upstarts moving in.
  7. We have sash windows and the police advised us to check them as often when you get burgled they open the window so they can come back later. When I checked after we had be burgled they had unlocked all our sash windows. I now have locks and restrictors on them.
  8. We live in the area of Beauval Road and were broken into while we were sleeping a few years ago now. It happened to be the day my husband came home after being away on a business trip for a month. I had been by myself for the month and just using the Yale lick, I now lock the door at all times even when we are all in the house.
  9. I always go to the lovely people in the dry cleaners next to the post office, I've only tried the man on Grove Vale once. He was overpriced and rude! I doubt he has changed in the last 15 years.

    Rugby??

Is the Cherry Tree showing the Rugby?
  11. I spend a lot of time in Forest Gate and I would move there. My best friend lives there and it's very up and coming. almost like Dulwich 18 years ago. There are some nice cafes and bars in that area. Hope you find some thing soon!
  12. My daughter is now 18 and we have lived in the area for the last 19 years, she has been in most of the pubs along Lordship lane when she was younger, she was sat down and given a book or colouring pencils by me, she knew not to run around or scream. She is now anti alcohol ( not like her dad and I!)I would love to go into a pub where I could enjoy a drink without having children screaming or running around or putting dirty hands on my clean white trousers with no apologies from the parents. I have been to the Flying Pig twice now for food, Both times there have been children in there screaming the place down. If for any reason my daughter acted like that when she was younger, we would either take her outside or leave. I've done my time now I would like my pint in peace! And as for kids on scooters, The adults on the scooters with them are just as bad!!!
  13. very upset by this. We have been going to there since it was the mexican! and it has always had the same guy running/owning it ( We have lived here for 18 years) one thing guarantee to put me off is a chain! I won't be going! Lordship Lane is loosing it's charm and character.
  14. Thank you for posting this I am often out early in the morning by myself running. It has made me more aware having lived in the area for so many years you take it for granted and feel safe in your home area.
  15. Maybe if people didn't drive 200 yards and walked instead this wouldn't be a problem!
  16. Yet again, people that believe what's featured in the News without in-depth research or only pick out what they want people to read as scare tactic. Fluoride is not harmful in small does. It is good for children's teeth, and the australians have excellent teeth because of fluoride in the water. the rate of children's decay is lower in areas with fluoride. Otta is it the flavour that your little one doesn't like? if not there is now a toothpaste with no flavours added but does have fluoride.
  17. I enjoy the Ivy house, I'm hoping for a pint there on V day after my bag of chips on the walk over! we would be happy to put into a community pub. Say that the Magdala/Mag/Patch...... Would be a better option for a community pub.
  18. It's nice to know people are still willing to help, we are always quick to complain and moan!
  19. Happened to my husband as well. he didn't feel anything but he woke up one morning with 6 large swollen bites on his back.
  20. I know how horrible it is to have this happenn to you, with us they broke while we were sleeping. It was my husbands first night home after working away for two weeks. I dread to think what would of happened if he hadn't been home. At the time we had a yale lock and a chub lock but only used the chub when we went out. now the chub and yale are both locked wether I am in or not and we installed window locks and restricters on all windows. We were lucky they only got my handbag and my husbands wallet which were both on the hall table. I did wake up and chase the guy down the street but couldn't catch him ( It was 3am) It took me a very long time to feel safe in my home again.
  21. This opened a can of worms! I have had my newest tattoo done in the last 6 months. No none of you will see it whilst I am pulling my trendy shopping trolly down Lordship Lane. I am in my late (very Late) 30's and have lived in Dulwich for over 10 years. I had mine done to remind me of the most important people in my life and yes I have the memories that will never fade but I had this done for me. My Husband is not a fan of tattoo's. I think that you should go for it and open up your new venture. you never know until you try and good for you wanting to do something for yourself! Working for yourself is very hard work but a great achievement Reading some of the posts on this page has made me ashamed. We are not all judgmental bigots in the area!
  22. We will be trying them after yet another bad experience at Lordship Lane vets. We have been using them for the past 14 years for a very spoilt and pampered pussy cat. I want the best service and to know that my cat is in the best hands.
  23. Kings is a great hospital with great staff. My friend recently had a heart attack. It happened on the Saturday morning they had operated Saturday afternoon and we were allowed to see him sunday and he was discharged on Tuesday and we can't thank the staff enough. my friend is now recovering at home.
  24. Great to see that everyone is pulling together. would be down there to help but had to work today. I had to drive down the Walworth Road around midnight last night and it's the first time I have been truly frightened. The metal shutters did nothing to stop the looters. there were gangs, riot police and smashed windows everywhere. I think I just caught the tail end as it headed down E street towards old kent road.
  25. My husband and I would be interested in going. Many years ago they used to hold something a bit like that in Dulwich park as part of the dulwich festival, unfortunatly they no long do that.
