  1. Yesterday morning, a white, balding man, slighly overweight, and carrying a large bag, knocked persistently on our front door. Fortunately I had taken the day off work, so was at home. When I answered the door, he insisted he had a 'parcel' for me. Of course, I slammed the door in his face and dialled 101 to report the matter to the police. The guy was quite persistent. Before he left, he pushed a small card through our letterbox. The spidery scrawl of his handwriting was quite hard to read, but he seemed to be inviting me to a 'sorting office' to collect a 'parcel'!!! Obviously this incident has left me quite distressed, and I'm glad my wife and children weren't home at the time. I've seen other people dressed in similar (blue) clothing, but always in the afternoons, never in the morning. I live on Barry Road, but would advise people to keep an eye out in case this guy is still operating in the East Dulwich area.
  2. I'm not in the market for a k itchen, but let me know if you have any s ofas from S underland, or any b athrooms from B ishop A uckland, and we might be able to come to an a rrangement.
  3. Bugger! I was hoping for a thread about a couple of Dulwich's yummy mummys grappling on the pavement of Lordship Lane. Oh well ....
  4. Hi Martina Max here I feel very bad to see your inappropriate commercial response to Otto's original message. If Otto ever catches up with you, and if you want more information, then please visit the below links. ==================================================== http:\\www.howtostopanosebleed.com http:\\www.privateambulancesrus.com http:\\www.moneygrabbingpersonalinjurylawyersrus.com/wheretheresblametheresaclaim
  5. Cate, Funnily enough, I did once have a job as a stand-up, though it didn't last long as I would get to the end of a joke and then I could never remember the, erm .... no, it 's gone. Now I'm forced to live a hand-to-mouth existence and eke out a living where I can. Let me know if you ever need your windows cleaning, or I'm a dab hand at tarmacing (spelling?) drives or replacing loose tiles (special rates for OAPs and the vulnerable).
  6. In a similar vein, I was recently approached by a man wanting to know whether I would like regular deliveries of some sort of white liquid in a bottle, in exchange for cash. Apparently, he could also get me 'eggs' and 'juice' if I wanted them (obviously some code for drug-related paraphernelia I shouldn't wonder!). I slammed the door in his face and called the police, who were less than helpful. Be on your guard if you see this man. He drives a slow-moving electric vehicle with crates stacked on the back, and he seems to tour the area in the early mornings.
  7. Alley Kat, You might want to take a look at this website which gives details of planes flying over your location: http://www.radarvirtuel.com/ In my experience, use a browser other than Internet Explorer, such as Firefox, as IE seems to take ages to refresh the page ... or perhaps its my computer!
  8. ... and switch the oven off?
  9. There were a number of Chinese Flying Lanterns released from Sternhall Lane in Peckham. The folks in the flat below me were having a New Year's Eve party, and each person attending the party released a lantern, containing their hopes and dreams for 2010! As you mentioned, somehow these seem more atmospheric and beautiful than a regular fireworks display.
  10. My wife collected Tarquin & Jocasta from their private tutor yesterday afternoon in the 4 x 4. The worst part of her journey was when she popped in to Caffe Nero on LL for a latte and almost tripped over an elderly person lying prostrate on the pavement outside having slipped on the untreated surface. Fortunately she didn't spill any of her coffee!
  11. Sam, If you're interested in Nick Drake, there's a tribute event being held at the Barbican on 22 January 2010: http://www.barbican.org.uk/music/event-detail.asp?ID=9914
  12. Thanks Pickle! That's more likely to be the answer, rather than the chimes of Big Ben!
  13. I live in the Peckham Rye area, not too far from Goose Green and East Dulwich. At quiet times in the morning and at the weekend, I can occasionally hear the chimes of a clock, on the hour. Could I be hearing the chimes of Big Ben, albeit from 3-4 miles away, or is there a clock that you know of in the local area which chimes on the hour? Just curious to find out! Thanks Michael
  14. At least the guy was showing some initiative! In the current downturn, it's not enough just to stand on street corners, offering your wares. I commend this chap on showing entrepreneurial spirit and a more proactive approach to drug dealing. Perhaps he might also like to think about offering a midweek discount when business is slow, or even a BOGOF deal (buy some ganja, get some ketamine free)!?
  15. Thank goodness I live in the relatively peaceful backwater that is Peckham Rye! When I get in from work and have taken my stab vest off, I do so love to log on to the EDF and see what mayhem is occuring in the East Dulwich 'hood. Perhaps the BBC should commission a new docusoap ... East (Dulwich) Enders! Any takers?
