Suggestions for 40th birthday venue around Clapham?
hazelnunhead replied to budur's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I recently look at some venues and here are some that I found. you can rent out the Lido in Brockwell. (herne Hill). In Depftford you can rent out the top part of the Red Bus, and then there is usually a DJ in the bottom part. the IvyHouse in Nunhead has a room where you can eat/ use for a party. there were pubs on Lordhsip Lane that had rooms, but you cannot usually do just canap?s. (Exhibition) . If I think of any more will let you know. Another option is to use your own space if possible and hire in a caterer / bar person to serve cocktails. -
Roald Dahl & Imagination Seekers at Southbank
hazelnunhead replied to nunheadmum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for that, in the end decided against it (more me not having the energy to face huge queues) and ended up at the Peckham Plex! -
You might want to contact the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) as they work and advocate for quite a few people who have dyslexia, and their rights and experiences in the work place. They might be able to put you in contact with people who are willing to take part in your research, who may not have wanted to disclose.

Bi fold door advice please
hazelnunhead replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in The Family Room Discussion

Difficulties having arm in a sling for a few weeks?
hazelnunhead replied to Alan Medic's topic in The Lounge
Alan, if your partner needs (and her arm is in a cast) I have a spare waterproof thing you can put over it to shower/bath. I broke my wrist 2 years ago, had my arm in a cast for 6 weeks, got used to it after awhile! Easier to wear pull on type clothing, got the hang of basic cooking etc, but difficult to chop etc ..... Hope she heals soon. -
MEN'S xmas pressie advice - help wanted!
hazelnunhead replied to Tanqueray's topic in The Family Room Discussion
TrAvel guide for New York? So you can start reading and planning. Or a novel or book set in New York (writer like bill Bryson) Tickets for statute of liberty or something like that? Long way off but you need to book well in advance if you want to go to any of the levels. -
I think there should be another 7, so 077 then the number. (Or look at the start 3 digits of numbers and see if that is the number missing) My gut feeling would be that it is a repeat number that has been left out! Could you leave a message on the lamppost, saying that the number is incnplete and leave your number, perhaps the person travels to work that route daily. Good luck with this, fingers crossed for you!

How about the "This is London " book for one of them http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0789310627?keywords=this%20is%20london%20book&qid=1448629070&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1 Uno cards or such are small and they can also play with them whilst travelling This Melissa and Doug Hangman is superb (and good for travelling as magnetic) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Melissa-Doug-Flip-Win-Hangman/dp/B0020UZ1DO/ref=sr_1_1?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1448629165&sr=1-1&keywords=melissa+and+doug+hangman For the 8 year old you could also look at those Brainbox games - fairly small to pack away in a case ....

King's College Dental Hospital
hazelnunhead replied to alaska721's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My daughter was referred to Kings, but she has some dental issues related to her enamel. I wonder if your dentist was worried about the discolouration, or if they thought the tooth might need to be extracted, or something other than an injection needed? Kings offers gas and other types of sedation that local dentists can't. We have found the care at Kings superb, and haven't waited for longer than 10 mins or so when booked in for an appointment. Perhaps you could ask the consultant in 4 weeks time, but they will sign you off in no major issues. (That is my knowledge). We waited almost a year from referral so I am not sure it is routine to refer children because of the wait list. -
HI T&G I think there is always room for a craft club. Some of the difficulties I would have is that on the days that I can pick up my child from 3.30 from school are perhaps not the days that I would then take her to an activity, and the rest of the days are scheduled for either after school club or another activity. I would make an exception if it was a craft or something that she particularly wanted to do (like clay making) rather than a general craft. For the weekend, I would prefer something to be drop in (although I know that might not be the best for the person organizing it) as I do not want to commit our weekend away too much and sometimes just don't feel like doing an activity. Would your classes be a drop off? However 45 minutes doesn't leave too much scope for the parent/carer to go anywhere - if it is longer, e.g. 2 hours then the person doing the drop off can conceivably get something else done, rather than wait at the venue. For a 45 minute session I would expect to pay around the ?5 - 8 mark, and that would depend on what was offered (materials and crafts used) etc.

half term creative courses for 13 year old?
hazelnunhead replied to DiD's topic in The Family Room Discussion
That never occurred to me either! I wonder if you could look for things happening at the Bussey Building, I am sure I have seen drama stuff for that age group advertised before. -
Well the question was of interest to me as I use the choumert parking lot about once a week. I thought perhaps your post would contain some information about why it could be closed (works been done etc) and might be of interest to me to check before I next went. Sorry icant answer your question, I used it last Saturday when it was open.

I saw an advertisement for film making advertised at peckhamplex cinema, it was on the wall where you pay. If I see the details again will post them for you. -
Yes to Mr Gum! The Astrid Lindgren books are lovely, there are the Pippi Longstocking, Milo's kingdom etc. vArjack is just brilliant. Two in the series, and I was as interested as my daughter!

Half term camp / activities for 4 yo?
hazelnunhead replied to westdulwichmama's topic in The Family Room Discussion
two that come to mind (both advertised on her if you do a quick search) are Artastic and Nimble arts. My daughter has gone to both and they do full or half days. Keep a look out in the "what's on " thread as quite a few are advertised there. There are often cooking workshops, sport days, tennis workshops and different drama groups that advertise.
