My mother in law is staying with us at the moment, and she needs to see a doctor (insect bites looking rather red and nasty and not disappearing despite cream from pharmacist). I would like her to see a doctor and need to find someone who takes private patients, preferably in the area. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I have just booked some half price tickets (?16) per child with the website Little Bird for Kidzania. thought I would pass on the information as this is the cheapest I have ever seen for Kidzania! You book the tickets via their website (little bird) or phone them (there is a contact number on their website) and then confirm time slot on the day with Kidzania.

My daughter attends Juke Box Drama which she loves. They hold different classes during term time aimed at different ages of children. The classes are fun, and the work they produce is always wonderful, with a real care towards the children, and a commitment to their development. You can contact Margaret at info@margaretsmusic.ltd.com and perhaps your son could go to one of the classes to see if he likes it. Her number is Tel: 07588 845 042 I know Margaret is also holding a summer drama workshop as well .

Well done to your son for doing so well in athletics! My understanding of scholarships are that they are usually offered by the school, for your child to attend that school. I would look at schools that have strong athletics teams (lie Dulwich) then phone the school and ask them to send you the details of applying for scholarships - that should tell you how much of the fees etc they would pay, how to apply etc. I think the other way - if he was to stay at his current school, but to receive support for his athletics would be some type of sponsorship for him or grant from the council. I think the coach at your athletics team would be the best person to ask about this as they should have dealt with this previously.

Theatre for 6yo and 4yo - Wicked?
hazelnunhead replied to Undiscovered's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I agree with redjam that Matilda might be just too long for a four year old, and it is more aimed at around 8 and above. However if you are looking at some theatre options, an alternative (more local and cheaper) I can highly recommend the Albany Theatre in Deptford which run many plays aimed at this age group. http://www.thealbany.org.uk/events/Family There is also the Little Angel Theatre in Islington (easily reached on the overground) https://littleangeltheatre.com/category/whats-on/ -

Friday morning swimming - Dulwich Leisure Centre
hazelnunhead replied to emilyr0se's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I can't link but if you Google Dulwich leisure centre you will find the pool timetable. That will tell you which sessions are open to all and which are just for swimming. Peckham pool also has a quite warm smaller pool for swimming with toddlers. -
Xmas sweets for the kids ward at kings THANK YOU!!!
hazelnunhead replied to Fox_tail's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi foxtail, I will organise this this week . Should I text you to see when a good time to drop off? Can do this weekend, or around 6.00 most evenings. -
If you are thinking Christmas ice skating, we have gone twice to the one outside the Natural History Museum .... although it gets quite hectic out there as the skating rink is quite small and there are a lot of people who flail around the rink. But it feels Christmassy and there is hot chocolate afterwards! I have always wanted to do the Somerset house one but it sells out quite quickly. Time out do a review of ice rinks http://www.timeout.com/london/things-to-do/ice-skating-in-london and I am sure there is one around the Southbank as well. For fun on an ice rink, the Streathman one is lovely. (very easy to reach via train). It is really big and never seems to be that over crowded. Went on an inset day earlier this year and practically had the ice rink to ourselves.

Recommendations wanted pls: really good apps for 4-8yrs
hazelnunhead replied to sarahew's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My daughter loved the Toca Boca apps (age 4 or so). Sweet make believe games, no in app purchases or anything. There was a really fun medical one and we had a tea party one as well. If you search it under your App purchases a whole lot will come up. -
You can pick up 30% off the price of circus tickets pamphlets which are usually in the shops around Peckham rye. I picked up one today from the shop on Cheltenham road. I think you need to take the voucher when buying tickets to get the discount.

Gymnastics in the summer holidays
hazelnunhead replied to mybaby178's topic in The Family Room Discussion
When I have dropped my daughter off at Dulwich for the Holiday Drop Off (HDO) , there always seems to be a gymnastics workshop that is taking place as well at the same venue. If I remember correctly it is Charisma gymnastics http://www.dulwich-london.com/dulwich-gymnastics.html -

There is quite a decent range at Decathlon http://www.decathlon.co.uk/yamba-cruiser-skateboard-blue-coral-id_8319140.html We were there the other weekend as my daughter is interested in one - and there is enough room to have a try out of the boards!

Look on the online shop for the Science Museum, they have a few things that might be suitable.

Thoughts on Colourbox and Little Climbers
hazelnunhead replied to littlebillybiscuit's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My daughter went to Colourbox for around 6 months (we had just moved to the area, and needed a nursery place for this amount of time until school started). I was forever grateful that Colourbox took her in knowing it was for such a limited period. They were lovely to her, helping her to settle (she missed her old nursery and friends), and they went out of their way to try and make this transition easier for her. As Nunhead mum says, its small, friendly, family atmosphere. So I would recommend them.
