I used stick on ones ( height of laziness!) but they worked really well, you just stick them on the label. All have remained on. I keep spares, cso when we take an item of clothing, or buy something I can easily label it. If interested I will find the website.

A few questions about flying (to SA) with 2 under-3s
hazelnunhead replied to akc74's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The flight to cape town from Jhb is only an hour, so if you needed to save on tickets not a problem. Easier than changing in the middle of night via Europe. However just note that job airport is big and you will need time to get from international to domestic terminal, and might need to get your bags, clear customs and then pick up flight. You will need sufficient time to do this. There are quite a few airlines in south Africa like kulula, one time etc that do cheap internal flights. -
Nursery recommendations and baby groups- recent
hazelnunhead replied to uzma's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi and welcome to the area. The dish and spoon (cheltenham rd, nunhead), is running daily sessions for babies and toddlers. Lots of mums and dads and careers... Also pick up a copy of the local Families magazine which has lists of activities. Library should have a copy and they generally run rhyme sessions as well. Check out your nearest park should have some sessions. Peckham rye has a lovely session for under 5,s twice a week, as does Telegraph hill etc. Loads to do in the area ... Good luck! -

What size bike for a 5 year old girl?
hazelnunhead replied to hazelnunhead's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for that. Will check there site for measurements. Have heard of Isla bikes and hoping to get one second hand. -
I want to buy a bike for my 5 year old daughter. I am a bit confused by the different sizes. Just wandered if there was a general rule / size for this age. She is not very tall, around 110cms I would guess. Feedback appreciated!

Sorry cant do links from my iPad but if you do a search for "free schools in southvlondon" you will find a discussion going around this. Just thought I would point you in that direction to give you an idea of previous comments . I think it was in family discussion as well. Or just do a search under Steiner schools on the forum.

have a look at this ..... http://www.campiglioni.it/index.asp?s=1&lingua=_L2 this was self catering, and the lovely women who ran it would pop fresh vegetables from the farm on our table! Once again we would meet up with other families in the evening (from all over the world) at night, drink a glass of wine and watch the children play ...... You even got your own little reserved spot around the fabulous pool area! You definately need a car for here, but absolutely beautfiful ....

Advice wanted - holiday in Portugal
hazelnunhead replied to esme's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes you can choose to self cater. As we booked late, we ended up getting a room with bathroom which we shared with my daughter. (The other bigger/self catering units were fully booked) We ate every night (except one and regretted it!) at verdemer. The evening meal was lovely and social. Wine provided freely, all the guests gathered around, and a fabulous meal made. My daughter would eat with the children around 6.00pm and adults later. But you could choose if you wanted to eat there or not. It just became quite a lovely part of the holiday, and after the meal we would spill out onto the verandah and chat .... We didnt use a baby monitor, but I could see the room where my daughter was from the table, but you could ask them this, as there were quite a few families with children of different ages. They were great people who ran it, did a fab breakfast as well, and we really enjoyed our time there. We hired a car and would drive down to different beaches daily (about a 10- 15 minute drive if i remember). Go out for most of the morning/early afternoon, and then come back to the pool and lay out there. There was a nice garden, and at night all the children would run around the garden playing, and the adults would sip wine on the verandah.... maravellous! I also have a fabulous place, similar vibe in italy! -

http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,794486,906086#msg-906086 The thread above might help you (there are probably a few others with recommendations ) - I was going to suggest Fiona Foster who is on that list. -
I got a recommendation from the forum for a cleaner, who I needed for 5 weeks. She is lovely, cleans well, takes pride in her work and I really enjoyed getting to meet her. At the moment she has availability for Mon, Tues and Wed. If you would like her number send me a PM and I will pass on to you.

Popular group activities for 3-4 year olds?
hazelnunhead replied to notesink's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The library usually has a copy of Family Magazine, which lists lots of activities. The library also usually runs some sessions. Look into children's centre. Ivydale school has a children's centre which runs daily activities. Not sure what is close to you but most of the parks have a club (but you will need to check dates and opening times) -
My daughter recently went to a swimming party at Peckham Pulse - they did an hour of softplay, followed by an hour in the hydrotherapy pool. She absolutely loved it, although it does require parents (or a certain amount of adults) to be there as well. Lots of toys; floats etc were supplied as well as a private changing room!

Toca Boca games are lovely - favourites are the hairdressing one, tea party and doctor. Montessori apps for letters and counting Maths bingo If you do a google for best apps for children I think the Guardian has a list of the top 50, which includes some interactive books.

I am sure the Actress does. My husband has watched the last two matches there.

local kids entertainer - any recommendations?

I used tricky Toby (his details are on the forum if you search). He was recommended to me by Simon who I contacted and was busy on the date. My daughter still speaks fondly of Toby. He was brilliant. -
A few questions about flying (to SA) with 2 under-3s
hazelnunhead replied to akc74's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Definitely fly without stopover with children. As its (almost) same time zone they should sleep most of the flight. Prices vary from ?500 to ?100o. I often use flight centre, I can pass on the details if you want, and they have sourced ,e good flights. You can of course go via Europe or Africa on a stopover which is cheaper, but not as easy. Take snacks as dinner only usually served around 10 pm, few toys and you will be fine. I have used BAA, SAA, virgin mostly. I can't remember thevagevlimit, but I think 3 is almost full fare as they have a seat.Try book seats beforehand so you can all sit together and get a bassinet the reserved as well. They only have a certain number of these. Enjoy, I used to live in cape town and love going back! -
Those moth traps do work. Some of the health shops sell similar eco friendly ones ..... Not sure what the difference was!
